Chris is amazing. Cut our shower tile perfectly to widen the hole so the plumber could remove a faulty diffuser. He also cut the drywall on the back of the shower to reach the water pipes to stabilize them. He replaced the drywall and will paint the wall to finish the job. He is knowable in all areas of construction and I have him working on other projects for me. He is easy to work with and makes suggestions along the way. Is always prompt in his communication to keep me informed of the scheduling of a job or updates on the status which is rare these days. Would highly recommend him for any job you may have.

We are very satisfied with the stairs. Chris and Alli did a great job sanding the old color off and replacing it with the new color. They were professional, helpful with advice and cleaned up everything well. We would highly recommend them!

Chris Downie and his wife Allie did a great job sanding and staining ouir porch and deck. He also applied white plastic trim around the porch, repaired the broken screening and reconstructed our hallway light at the bottom of the stairway to the cellar. Arrived on time, worked hard completing tasks, and gave a fair estimate of the materials and labor. I expect to use him again for painting the screened porch before fall.

We initially reached out to Chris in connection with a few small projects (fixing a leaky roof, hanging art, installing curtain rods, etc.) that we needed done around our house. Once we met Chris and realized how competent and helpful he is, we decided to hire him not only for those projects, but also to install flooring, paint staircases, and renovate our bathrooms. Chrisâ s work is impeccably done and he is very thoughtful in how he approaches his workâ always asking us our thoughts when appropriate and communicating clearly and with photos. Chris provides a detailed breakdown of his work and what each element will cost, which has been really helpful for us in planning out the work weâ d like Chris to approach first. In renovating our bathroom, Chris even provided some really helpful advice on what materials to choose and gave suggestions on what fixtures (toilet, light fixture, sink, etc.)!would look best for our style of home. Heâ s been a fantastic collaborator at every turn and weâ re looking forward to working with Chris on more home improvement projects in the coming years.

When we needed ASAP work done extremely ASAP lol I went on Home Advisor and Chris at Hammer Down answered immediately. They were able to be there ASAP and did the job beyond my expectations. They were also extremely nice and professional. We will DEFINITELY use them again and highly recommend them!

Chris was a professional right from the start. He arrived on time for both the initial consultation and for each day he worked. We hired him for a wall repair and tile job in our master bathroom. He did the job right, finished on time, and stayed at his estimated price. We were very happy with the finished product and his quality craftsmanship.

Couldn t ask for a better job & he s a good dude too.

Chris Downie owner of Hammer Down Construction was personally able to complete my project on time at a fair price. Quality work included painting, patching around house & repair of French Doors, getting home ready to rent. Previously doors were hard to open, now track repaired & secure with weather stripping. Highly recommend & will use him for my next project.

Very good service.attention to detail

Chris was an unknown, but we had an emergency repair from storm damage - a large tree trunk slamming through the window and wall traveling over 25 feet inside the house. He came and finished the reconstruction/repair in a week s time as he estimated. We have since hired him for another residence. He has a wide degree of construction knowledge and skills. He s also a friendly and amenable craftsman.
