Jobs were completed to our satisfaction and wouldn't hesitate to use EXCEL for additional electrical services.
Description of Work: Installed 5 ceiling lights in our kitchen. Installed under cabinet kitchen lights in the kitchen. Installed chandelier in our hallway and mounted a ceiling fan and a TV on our outside porch.

The technician (John) arrived within 20 minutes of his scheduled arrival time. He had all of the parts and tools necessary to do the job because his dispatcher (Chad) had already gathered that information from his discussions with me when I called to schedule the appointment. The technician called me to explain what the price for the work would be before he began his work. He was thorough, fast, extremely polite, and at the end of his work he called me to explain what had been done and what my price would be for the exterior power supply to my generator which I will do on my next service call with Excel Electric. I have been a general contractor for over 30 years so I know excellence when I experience it. You simply can not get a more professional electrical service than Excel Electric. I will always call them first when ever I have work to be done. Their owner (George) has assembled a powerful team of excellent people that can not be beat by any other trade.
Description of Work: Excel installed a 230-volt outlet in our garage so we can use our industrial air compressor. They also removed an unnecessary live wire from our breaker box.. and finally they provided me a quote to install a weather proof 230-volt outlet on the outside of our home for a generator in case we lose power.

But honesty is a ZERO. Kidnapping of a family pet is a very serious crime. Is this the kind of employees that you hire ? No background checks ? These are our homes and our belongings how dare you ? I expect the owner to respond and contact me with some sort of explanation. A word to the wise be careful as to you hire.
Description of Work: electrical repair screwed bulb in, (supplied by owner) and installed a new rocker breaker switch which needed to be replaced with a timer switch that was removed.

From The Owner George S I dont even know where to begin with this review, the owner lost his dog after we had left his home and he called us saying our service tech stole his dog and then brought it back 3 hours later. So we went over our GPS tracking system with the owner to show him we did not return to his home to return his dog, the owner saw us come in and he saw us leave we never went back. I have contacted the owner to go over our GPS tracking Again personally. We train every one of our service professionals to close every door they open because yuo never know if the owner has any pets.

I have older 4' florescent fixtures in my kitchen. The ballasts need changing. I called Excel, told them I had the new parts and just needed them installed and what would they charge? I told them I got their name off Angie's List. The guy said they wanted to come out and give me an estimate. I said it was a long drive to the property for me and I did not want to make the trip just to get an estimate for a small job that should take about an hour to complete. I asked if someone could just show up and work hourly to install the new ballasts. Typical labor rates for an electrical contractor in PSL area are $60-$65 / hr. If the electrical contractor sends an employee out to do the work, that employee earns about $20 / hr. The guy asked if I could email pics and I could and did. I never heard back from them. My advice to any Angie's List customer is to find a licensed electrical contractor willing to do service work for $65 / hr plus parts. That is a fair labor rate unless the work is unusually difficult or dangerous.

From The Owner Of Excel Electric George S I can understand the frustration of this customer when trying to get a quote on such a small job which is why we offered to come out and provide him with a FREE ESTIMATE in which he declined. We offered to come and quote the job at absolutely no cost and he declined, instead he said that we should just charge him hourly and look at the pictures that he posted on Craigslist of the home and give him a price per hour which I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU DO NOT DO , Other wise there is no telling what you will be charged Unfortunately we do not give prices over the phone with out going to the job and assessing the situation no matter how small the customer thinks the job is we still treat it the same. That way the customer is not left with any question of how much it will cost when we give you a quote it will be firm no matter what obstacles we come across after the FREE QUOTE is given This is the best way we have found to best serve our customers , to provide an in person estimate at no cost to the home owner or in this case the realtor, and in most cases do the work right away Both the Service professional and the Home owner will sign the estimate before an work is started What most companies will try to do is give you a price over the phone or a low hourly rate just to get to your door then tell you Oh this is going to take longer than expected your left with an open ended bill ASK FOR A FREE WRITTEN QUOTE BEFORE ANYONE WORKS ON YOU HOME.

Appointment was made in a timely fashion. Appt was scheduled between 8-10 am. Sean called at 7:45 am to inform me that he was on the way. The guys were clean and courteous. The repairs were made and I am very happy with the service.
Description of Work: replaced a broken switch and fixed a blown switch caused from a ceiling fan's light fixture.

The ceiling fan didn't work and he told me that was it, that the fan was up there and if I wanted him to install another one he'd have to charge me another $120. He wasn't going to give me a credit or adjustment for having it not work. We've used them before and they were awesome that time.

The electrical work company was a bit expensive, he did not quite do the job to my satisfaction and it was too much money. They also charged me troubleshooting, level one diagnosis, for $197. I am not sure what that is. They also charged me $250 for a landscape bulb It was ridiculous. Then they charged me a $25 dispatch fee on top of everything else. I was not pleased and quite frankly I asked him to fix the outdoor lighting because some of the things were broken and some of the things were not working. They are still broken and they were not fixed. So I paid all this money basically to have them put on an outdoor light and to change the plug for the electric dryer. I paid $735.67 for that.
Description of Work: I used Excel Electric to put in a cord cap locking pole connecter. In my backyard I had an electrical plug that was not an outdoor plug and was an indoor plug. I also wanted them to change the cord for the electric dryer because it was the wrong plug.

I have contacted Mr. [member name removed] personally to make sure that we followed all the steps, before any work has been started. Mr. [member name removed] said that the Service Professional was a very nice guy, and he had no problems with him but he feels overcharged. So I asked Mr. [member name removed] if he was given a free quote before the work was started which is mandatory for Excel Electric and he said he could not recall, after looking at the invoice myself and meeting with the service professional I would like to share it with you, our next customer. The total bill was 735.67 and the scope of work was the following Trouble shoot why the dryer was not working, Replace the dryer plug, Trouble shoot the outdoor light, Replace the outdoor light, Trouble shoot why the outlets were not working, Replace 1 GFCI receptacle and install an in use bubble cover for it , Trouble shoot the landscape lights, Replace 5 MR 16 Landscape light bulbs, Replace T3 G4 base halogen landscape light bulbs . After the job was completed the home owner signed off on the invoice. We always will present you with a free in home estimate before any work is started I am not sure why the home owner authorized the work if he thought it was to high Please keep in mind the cost it takes to get a 7-10 year veteran electrician to your door, we pay our employee’s very well as we should so for a job like this to be ¾ of the day. It is our goal to add value to our services by good communication, qualified personnel, and a great experience.
