All Star Sod

I gave Joe a $1100 deposit. He never did any of the work. This guy will rip you off.

The owner of this company, Joe Smolinsky, will come off as a good guy at first, but once he has your deposit, he's unprofessional and a fraud. I gave him a $1,700 down payment to install sod, should have been a 2 day job. He failed to start on time and failed to complete on time. He essentially walked off the project, not to mention his shoddy work when he failed to cut the existing sod deep enough. He tried to rip me off by including more area in the quote, but trying to do less. Now he's refusing to refund me for all the work he never completed. He will have excuse after excuse when it comes to performing work. He has no dedicated workers, he finds them off Craigslist at the last minute, and pays them $100 a day. Since they aren't employees and he's paying them cash, they aren't covered under his insurance. If they get injured, they will go after your homeowner's insurance. The kicker in all this, he's not even the cheapest quote you will find! BEWARE!

Joe S is terrible terrible terrible! Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Sod looked terrible on side of house since day 1 and he told us not to worry it would settle! What a joke! His workers didn't bring enough sod initially and he kept promising to show up to finish the job and finally did after multiple cancelled times.. Still with not enough sod! We are still missing areas he promised to come back to do weeks ago!!! And areas had died due to the horrible job that was done without fertilizer or soil placed under and he tells us we only had 30 day guarantee on it and won't replace any of it. I'm sure he waited to come until his 30 guarantee crap was through. I wish I could give this guy Joe S. a negative star, he really deserves it. Waste of money and time. Beware of this sneaky and untrustworthy man.

Joe the owner showed up on time and made great suggestions. He uses high quality sod and it was fresh just cut that morning. Joe came on time the day of the job and did everything he said he would do. When I got home and saw the front yard I was very impressed with how great the lawn looked. I was really impressed with how well they cleaned up. Joe is very professional and extremely customer focused. I will definetly hire him again in the future for more landscaping.
