I called and spoke to Mary requesting a quote for a service, my A/C wasn’t cooling. She said she could have her techs out the same day which was great. I let her know I was concerned about calling because I did not want to be ripped off because I’m a female. She sounded like she understood and told me not to worry. A tech by the name of Angel came out and looked at my unit inside and went to check the outside unit, he came back within about 20 minutes and said he changed my capacitor $185 and said he added a hard start kit $140 with an invoice of $389.95, the service fee was $59.95 He didn’t ask me anything just changed the parts. I called back to get information on how much capacitors cost and Mary did not want to answer my question until she looked at my information. She then said that they are $185 because they labor cost is so cheap and they have to pay for insurance and other things. As I advised her that the work was done prior to letting me know the cost she said that they usually do not handle service calls this way and would be talking to the tech. Definitely a learning lesson for me, but I definitely would not recommend this company unless you want to be hustled out of your money.

This is the second time I've used Total Air. In both cases it was an emergency as it was after hours and during the summer. Total Air responded promptly and fixed the problem quickly and efficiently. Then they followed up by calling back to make sure all was well. I read another review that said their customer service was "horrible," but my experience was quite the opposite on both occasions. Furthermore, their prices are fair and they do not try to gouge you as some companies do.

They are a family owned business. I have been using them for years and I trust them in my home. They do good work and I would highly recommend them.

Total Air has no integrity.  I can't believe they get away with what they do.  My three year old Rheem had a pipe vibrate loose which caused freon loss.  I didn't know who to call, so I followed the big ad to Total Air.  Once he arrived, the service technician  diagnosed the problem, then called his supervisor for instructions.  After getting off the phone, the service tech told me the part was under warranty, I would not be charged for the part, and they would return the next day to fix the unit. He gave me a quote of $680 to put the new part in.  I paid him $89.95 for the service call.  The tech said that someone from Total Air would call us in the morning and let us know when a tech would arrive.  Well, by 11:30 the next morning, no one from Total Air had called us.  I called them.  I got an answering machine.  I waited ten minutes.  I called again, got an answering machine.  I left a message.  I left another message.  By 12:30, no one had called me.  Finally, I got a woman who told me that they couldn't come out until Wednesday, three days later.  In Florida, 90 degree temps.  I was not pleased.  She went on to tell me that they were told by their warehouse that it would take 7-10 days to get the part, but she put a $50 rush on it, and they would be happy to fix my unit on Wednesday, if possible.  She seemed pleased with herself for rushing this part.  I was appalled.  She hadn't even called me to ask if I was willing to wait or pay extra.  I was decidedly unhappy and explained that the service tech had said he could have soldered the pipe and been done, but we chose not to do that because he said the part was under warranty and that was a better way to go.  The woman at Total Air then informed me that the part was not under warranty and that we would be charged for it.  What?  They had already given me a quote.  They had already told me the part was under warranty.  Now they were taking that back.  I told her to forget it.  No one does business this way.  She should have called to give me an option rather than making the judgment call on her own.  I was really angry that I had dropped $89.95 right down a rat hole for them.  I called a different A/C repair place.  The new place told me the part I needed to fix my A/C unit was under warranty, the part was easy to obtain, and they could get the part the next day.  End of story is that the other A/C place fixed my A/C for $187.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Total Air lied.  Not only did they lie to me, but their bill for this repair was $680, plus the $89.95 I'd already paid, plus the price of the part which was under warranty.  Wow!!!  What a huge difference.  So, you readers can decide for yourself whether or not Total Air is honest and fairly priced.  I will always, ALWAYS use the other A/C place that came out, diagnosed, were honest, and didn't overcharge me.  $187 for the actual repair.  I am keeping the Total Air quote, just so people can see for themselves.  I'm telling the truth.  Maybe Total Air should start doing the same.  Total Air is nothing short of rape.  I feel used, and I wish I could get my $89.95 back.
