They used my hose to wash off the used aluminum, and just let it run the whole time, instead of turning the water off. I had a water bill of $385! I asked them to pay on the water bill & they refused. When the county inspector came, he failed the cage structurally. They came back two months later to repair, and it did pass the inspection the second time. The initial contract was $4000. Later they said they needed another $390 to connect existing patio roof to pool cage with a beam. I did agree to pay that additional amount. After the second inspection, the inspector said the pool cage should not be connected to the patio roof & to take the beam down. They took that beam down, but have not reimbursed me for that additional charge. They did not repair or patch the areas where the old pool cage was installed. They threw trash in the pool, and made a big mess. When their supervisor came he brought a skimmer and picked up the big pieces, but they used my pool pump against my wishes, to vacuum up what went to the bottom of the pool. Now my pool pump is making a funny noise.
Description of Work: I got their name from the builders association and they were supposed to have won awards. They were to construct a pool cage for me. They were to take the old scrap pool cage aluminum away, but they were using the old aluminum, cut and painted it. They set it up against my trees and sprayed it, and the trees have spray paint on them. They denied that they did this, although the paint did not cover everything. This was supposed to take 2 days, but took a week. Neighbors complained about their loud music. When I later looked at the permit, I found they had put down that the project was $2000, so they did not have to pay a fee for the permit.

Response from Nautilus Pools Inc
When the inspector came for the inspection, he determined the design loads for wind on the old and new sections, but they must be designed separately. The post and beam must connect to the house pan roof, mansard roof and the carrier beam must connect to the post. In order for this to be done we needed additional engineering. Also, your fascia/roof edge line was rotted, in which we repaired at no extra cost to the customer. Because of this we had to go back through engineering for additional engineering, we set up your final inspection immediately, as we informed her and the cage passed its final inspection as required by the engineer and inspector. Per the county inspector and us, there was no used Aluminum. In regards to the water bill, customer had neglected to say that she had the pool redone and refilled just prior to us starting the job. We used minimal amount of water to clean off the deck in completion of the job. This is a common practice in construction. We had contacted Charlotte County Utilities and found out that there was a credit for refilling the pool, because of a new interior, in which was signed by the customer on a official document requesting the credit.

When consulting with owner Pete at time of construction he designed and quoted the entire project with interest and prompt responses. Once the construction was completed and payment had been remitted, Pete personally has stated he wouldn't discuss resolving the problems described. As of this writing Nautilus is firm in their refusal to even reinspect their work notwithstanding independent contractors have explained the problems are design and installation flaws in workmanship.
Description of Work: Nautilus designed and constructed our swimming pool, spa and lanai, incuding pavers installation and pool cage screen. Subsequent failure in the construction materials and paver installation have been verified by contractors independent of Nautilus. Cracks in pool coping, leaks, cage screen separations from frame and subsidence of pavers all relate to work performed and for which Nautilus was paid. Telephone calls to Nautilus have been either ignored or a recorded message advises how busy Nautilus is and the caller is encouraged to call another company. In a conversation with Nautilus it was stated flatly they had no interest in the problems and made it expressly clear they weren't going to discuss the problems indicated above.
