Coastal Tree Service

To start it all off. We live in Neptune Beach who takes pride in its trees and has a law in place to preserve its them, making it illegal to cut down any trees without permission from town hall. Recently our insurance company decided (for some reason) that they would send someone to inspect our house (we have only been living here since March 2013). The inspector found nothing wrong with the house except that there were a few low hanging branches over our house, and Florida being prone to hurricanes they wanted them removed. So we contacted a few tree service companies and Coastal Tree Service came out as the most reliable/reasonable. The Coastal Tree Service team were at our house by nine am, and got to work right away. On the day, we asked about an old tree stump we had in our back yard and what it would cost to have it removed and the availability of the removal crew. The price was reasonable and the removal crew/machine was in the neighborhood that day, so they could do that while they trimmed the branches. Perfect! At some point during the tree trimming one of the workers had an accident and possibly broke his wrist, luckily he was otherwise unharmed and is well (they are insured, so no liability on us, so please don't worry about that when hiring them). The crew were able to complete the remainder of the work even with one man down, and made great time doing so. Later on in the evening Mr Madden came by to pick up the check, and we had a chance to chat with him about our trees. He is a certified arborist and said he would help us out with a letter for our insurance company if the trimming wasn't enough to satisfy them. If I need any work done on my trees in the future, I will definitely hire them again.

Talked directly with Mr. Madden and date of work was scheduled for 9:30am. In order to accommodate his schedule I rescheduled other work being done at my home for the afternoon. At 9:40am I called the office to confirm the schedule and was told Mr. Madden and crew would be at my home between 9:30-10:00. Close to 10am I was called back by the office and told that I was now scheduled for service by Coastal in the afternoon. Since I had already rearranged the day for other services based on Mr. Maddens commitment to be at my home at 9:30am we cancelled the service with Coastal. People in the service business in this area seem to believe that customers should accommodate their schedule rather than the commitments to and schedule of their customers. Very inconsiderate and unprofessional.

Coastal Tree Service was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. They were extremely prompt in responding to our inquiry, They were able to fit us into their schedule the very next week. They were extremely flexible in accommodating our work schedules. When they arrived, James and his team were very pleasant and professional. The work was done quickly and well. Cleanup was thorough. Payment was easy. Great service!

I called Coastal Tree Service and they took my information. Within 2 hours I received a call back and was able to schedule the service. They were on time and left little evidence that a huge limb had ever fallen in the yard. They also quoted some additional tree work which I will get done some time in the future using their services as well.

Whole crew (4 or 5) people showed up next day as promised and finished task in a couple hours. Cleaned up after themselves after doing very professionable job.

They are very good. They are pretty quick to get back to me. The guy who came out really knew about the trees. Instead of just coming out and saying if I wanted that tree to be cut out, he was able to tell me what looks like a fungus on one tree was not harmful and it didn't mean that the trees was dying. He said that it will grow naturally. Whereas there was another tree that I had an issue and he showed me why it had an issue. He told me to watch it. He knew what he was talking about more than anyone else I have dealt with. I used him because I felt he knew what he was talking about and not trying to sell me more than I was asking about.

They are great! They respond quickly. Their prices are less than some but more than others. However, they have been more reliable compared to other inquiries. James is very knowledgeable and honest.

They attached a cable to the top of the tree and had to lift the tree up. They were here for 4 hours, but when they were gone, you couldn't even tell they had been here. They were quick, clean, and nice! It was a dangerous job, and there were gardens and sheds near by that could have been ruined, but they did a great job.

After they were through they tried to leave without raking up and taking away any of the pile of woodchips left from the stump grinding. We spoke to them and were told that this is not a normal part of cleanup (our past experience with another tree company proves this is not true and we specifically said "taking down a tree, grinding the stump and cleaning up" when getting the quote). They said they would come back later in the day and indeed they did but we discovered that all they did was barely touch the pile and instead raked it around and smoothed it out. We just filled 4 large black lawn bags of woodchips. Good price, quick getting the tree down, very poor follow up and customer service.

Gave a quote that was much less than others. Came when they said they would and did all promptly and neatly.

Coastal was very proficient in their trimming yet I found that they made a mistake that I wish I could have corrected. Unfortunately, they cut off a limb on one of my oaks that shouldn t have been cut, but otherwise they did a great job. They cleaned up extremely well. Although the price in their estimate was a little steep, it was not a hindrance in my decision to use them.

We called to have two trees taken out, but thanks to the owner we found out we had a very large water oak too close to the house and leaning that needed to go for safety reasons.
