World Moving Services

I originally went with this mover because their quote was much lower than everyone else I had spoken with. They seemed nice and they seemed like they cared. After my original deposit was given to them, I never heard from them again until after it was now within 5 days before my move date. (you see your deposit is 100% refundable IF you cancel before 5 days before your move date) At this time a ?quality assurance? person called me, named Lamar. He asked if anything changed to the list of things I was moving. It had. I had sold much of my furniture making my moveable weight about 2 thousand pounds lighter. Meaning that my price should have gone down. Nevertheless, Lamar said that I must have more things to move that I don?t know about and so that would keep the weight the same. When I questioned him, he charged me an additional $800 deposit, then to boot, added $833 to the total price. (by the way they took the additional deposit from my bank account without my authorization) When I called the company about this they played real dumb saying that that $800 deposit and the $833 addition to the total price were the same thing. It took me 15 minutes to explain that if someone pays more money as a deposit, then the balance should go down, not up. The next day I was called by a manager who received all of the messages I had left after the deposit phone call, since no one would take my calls. This manager, Pete, said he would give back the deposit and bring the total back to the original price. He never explained to me why no one would take my calls or call me back. He tried to pacify me, but each time I asked what kind of operation they were running he kept telling me that he understood me because he was originally from New York too. I still to this day do not know what that has to do with anything. This company is a Bait and Hook SCAM. After speaking to the manager, Pete, I still kept calling with questions. No one would take my calls. I finally filed a complaint with the consumer affairs website about World Moving Services. Within 15 minutes I got a call from the Customer Care Center. Vanessa said she was sorry that I filed a complaint and wanted to know how she could make things right. She even asked me to remove my complaint. I told her that she would have to do right by me. I also told her that I did not trust her, her company or the people she was going to send to my house. I informed her that since I felt this way, I was going to have a local police officer at my home upon pick up and delivery of my items. Vanessa called me back several hours later to cancel my move. She told me"they did not feel they could give me the kind of service I was expecting". I asked er if she felt that her company was not obliged to provide courteous, reputable service. She did not reply. She simply said that they did not like the fact that I complained. I did get all of my money back.
