Sutter Filtration Systems

The communication or lack there of is evident by the reviews - we had the same response. We contacted Carl after a neighbor suggested him. I had one phone conversation and literally within an hour, my spouse comes home to be greeted by a different neighbor who tells my husband that he just found out that we are buying the filtration system! I hadn't even spoken to my spouse about it but Carl or someone from his office thought it okay to discuss our private conversation. I let that go. Then it took MONTHS to get his business license and insurance info. We live in a HOA and I needed approval to get this done. Then when we finally get the docs, Carl and his tech drop off all of the equipment on the side of my house near the AC units - which sat for TWO MONTHS after they told me the install would be the next Wednesday morning. Then when the tech finally did the install, the guy had to dig through sand and rock and he deposited all of the sand and rock IN OUR LANDSCAPING - almost smothering the bushes. I had to remove all of it otherwise all of the hedges would have died (confirmed by our landscaper). So, Carl couldn't respond in a timely fashion in any other interaction, but showed up promptly about a week after the install with the bill, which we paid the nearly $3000 within a couple of days. Fast forward a few weeks, three of our hedges start turning a red/bronze color - they are dying because the tech directed a hose releasing who knows what into the landscaping. I call Carl to tell him and he assures me he will stop by immediately. He never shows. I call multiple times thereafter - no one answers the phone. I text. Nothing. I email him on 1/30/23 with a dozen photos - no reply. Mind you his office is a four minute drive from our community. Nothing...... So now the HOA is asking us about the landscaping replacement. Why do we have to incur the time and expense to repair/replace landscaping that was killed as a result of his installation technician's mistake???? He is the owner of the business and should make this right - stop by to see the issue and fix it. Reply to the email. Answer the phone calls or texts. I would NOT recommend this company. Do your research first and look at the reviews and the dates of the reviews. This was our mistake - we listened to one neighbor. They didn't even leave us guide to the system... Terrible business practices. Terrible customer service.

HORRIBLE! I cancelled my service in Dec 2015 and went with another well service provider due to the shoddy system he installed and I paid for at my home. The new service provider told me it was the equivalent to one of those "security systems" door to door salesmen sell, a total piece of crap. It caused my new GE Profile washing machine to deteriorate as well as constantly had issues. The worse.... This guy then goes and continues to bill me for YEARS since and has a collection put on my credit report. Ask yourself... who will continue to service anyone for YEARS without pay??? Stay away from this company.

I live in Southwest Ranches & Carl has been take care of my filter systems for the past 15 years. Pros: He is very knowledgeable and he knows what he is doing. When he is available, his work is more than satisfactory. His charges are fair I believe, never tried a competition to compare. Three of my neighbors are also using his service and they also are happy with his service. Monthly salt replenishment is done on time. He has a couple of techs helping him and they are pretty good at what they do. Cons: Time factor, he would never say he could not make it, but will not show up as promised. You cannot blame him, because his business is water systems, when people have issues with water systems as emergencies he takes care of them first & this is only fair, but this will further delay what he promised you. So he may not show up as promised but eventually will, if its not an emergency. Once my water system shut down on a Saturday afternoon, had a party that evening, he left other non-emergency works and showed up within an hour, so I would say he is reliable, especially in emergencies. His accounting (his wife) department sends bills every month and he never chases you for payments. I pay him for all his service and bills, but mostly when the bills get a a few times past due. He never complained.

Carl charges people 50$ a month for a bag of dirty salt that costs 2$, that salt then clogs your system and valves because of impurities in it, he then will charge again to come and fix it if he ever does , I had to hire a company to fix all the damaged caused by his dirty salt which he overcharges for , don't fall for this trap, there are plenty of great companies to work with, he is not one of them

Had to fire Sutter due to their negligence in maintaining a brand new $8,000 whole house RO system that I had them install a year ago. Carl is a very nice guy, but he constantly misses appointments that he sets. I've had a leak at the pump that he installed for over a year which is starting to rust out the pump. I have asked him multiple times to correct the issue and to this day, it still has not been fixed. Also, there were certain components in the system that should have been stainless or plastic due to the system being outside. There is a reason he has so many F reviews on Angieslist. Carl is slightly cheaper than some other companies, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for.

I used Carl for over 10 years and once upon a time he was really good but like so many businesses these days they get lazy. In my case after installing a brand new system by Sutter Filtration my water just was of poor quality. Clothes weren't coming out clean, dishes in the dishwasher turning white and chalky and then ridiculous bills to follow. I finally had enough and dumped this company and better off since.

EXCELLENT JOB COULD HAVE SAID I NEEDED A NEW PUMP, BUT WAS HONEST AND REPLACED ONLY WHAT WAS NEEDED. ALSO, GAVE GOOD ADVICE ON HOW MY SYSTEM COULD RUN BETTER.

We had to fire Sutter due to his negligence and lack of integrity. We have been having many issues with our water quality since we purchased new tank system from him. After many attempts to try and reach Sutter, he never showed up to his appointments to test the water or fix the issues. We had bad smelling water, our utensils were rusting , we had a white film on our glass. Our skin and hair were brittle and dry. We suspected fowl play so we ended up having to hire another company to come out and test our water and inspect our equipment. Our doubts were confirmed and we were not only shocked , we were angry that Sutter never cared about our water quality. My family's water was being comprised due his lack of professionalism. It was confirmed by the inspector that Sutter never properly maintained our new tanks resulting in damage to the inside of the tanks. The inspector showed us that our filter was black and looked like a piece of coal !!!! It was obvious that Sutter never changed our filter, which by the way should be done every 6-8 months. The entire system Sutter installed was incomplete and installed incorrectly, which resulted in water not being processed properly to get rid of unwanted contaminates. Our family had been using unsantitized water probably for months/years without knowing. Also we caught his salt driver cutting his costs by charging us for full bag of salt when he would fill it only half. This was a terrible experience for me and my family as we trusted Sutter to make sure we were getting good quality water , but unfortunately he fooled us and took advantage of our family and our money. In the end we finally hired a reputable company who confirmed all our doubts about our water quality. We now have safe, clean water and we definitely can feel the difference. We suffered for so long and I hope that by sharing my story, I can prevent another family from having to go through such an terrible experience.

The owner then said 'well then we'll drop it off from where it came then' and hung up. I wouldn't let these guys pour a cup of water;much less install anything.

Carl showed up and 9:30am to start diagnosing the problem. I assumed the pup motor was shot and Carl told me over the phone if that was the issue, it would cost close to $400 parts/labor. After being on site for 10 mins Carl was able to determine that the capacitor was blown out due to a stuck start switch. He fixed the issue quickly and to our surprise the repairs came to $101, a fraction of what we expected. This is the honesty that is worth it weight in gold. We could have easily been taken advantage of but not by Carl. He was also a very nice man who we will not hesitate to call again.

The installation went great. The follow up was non existent. Almost 3 years later I have called, emailed and instant messaged and was promised a return date to replace the filter but have heard NOTHING from this company. I have since asked Angies list to delete my rating that I gave them at the installation time as I now have to start all over with another company and have them re-install the whole house system.

In the entire year we used him, we identified all the issues, never him! So if your are looking for a babysitting of service, feel free to use him. Customer beware, you will have to monitor your system for all the necessities to ensure the timely and proper service is occurring.

At 11:00 I had not heard from this company and they had not showed up. I called and was told that the technician had to go to an emergency call and would be at my house shortly. I waited until 2 PM and still no serviceman and no phone call from the company. I called the company and told them that I was leaving and did want want them to do the repair anymore. The response I received from who I believe was the owner of the company was "ok, thank you". I felt this company was very unprofessional and had absolutely no respect for my time as the customer. They never called me yesterday to tell me their serviceman would be late or would not be able to keep our scheduled appointment. If I hadn't called them I would still be waiting! I would not use this company or recommend it to anyone else!!

Great! He was always punctual, very pleasant to deal with and showed me what we had to do. Very easy to maintain. We are super happy with the service and will recommend this company to anyone that wants the benefits of soften healthy water. It is worth every penny.

Can not be any happier with the system that was installed on my home. Great price and quality work. I highly recommend!

They've done a lot of work for me. I like dealing with him and his prices were pretty good. He's more responsive than other companies. The workers that come out to the house are of a little better quality than some of the other companies I've used in this area. I also like their availability. I had one emergency call and he was out to my house within a half an hour.

My husband called the company phone number on two occasions about two weeks apart. On both occasions, Carl Sutter answered. He told my husband on both occasions that he would call me in the next day or so to arrange for the service of our water filtration system. He never followed up with me or my husband on either occasion. I don't understand how someone who comes so highly rated on Angie's List could act with such a low level of professionalism. Incidentally, during the first call to Mr. Sutter, my husband mentioned to him that he was referred from Angie's List. Mr. Sutter's reply was, 'Well, I guess it works then.' Really! Works for who and just who was writing his reviews?

They have been fantastic and very good. They provide personalized service and are courteous. It’s probably a 2 or 3 man operation. They do home delivery for water softener systems, water softeners and well pumps. Most of the homes where I live around here are not on city water; they are on wells. The delivery for salt is on a per bag basis and the cost is $875 to $925 for a bag of 50 pounds of water softener salt. Their prices are very good too.

Prompt, courteous.reasonable price. Explained why I was having a problem, what it would take to repair, and how much it would cost. 2 1/2 hours from time I placed call requesting service until repair was complete. I highly recommend this company.

Bought a new house and wasn't familiar with the water conditioning unit or why it was spraying out water. Made an appointment with Mr. Sutter and not only did he come out on time he texted me to keep me informed. He spent a good deal of time going over my system with me. He explained the spraying water was normal and it was back flushing. He also informed me that at the time I didn't need a new filter but to keep an eye on it and call him when I wanted it changed. I appreciated that unlike other contractors I've had to the house he didn't try to pressure me to buy something or con me. I will defiantly use him in the future!

Great experience. Carl answered his phone on the holiday and got her a couple of hours later. He first tried the 'inexpensive' capacitor repair, but we both discovered that the pump had burned up. He had one on the truck and was done within an hour.

Excellent service and knowledge. Carl was excellent.

It is nice to meet someone like Carl, that has the knowledge and expertise when it comes to dealing with a well system. He arrived when he said he would and after a brief conversation about what he was going to do, he got right to work. He had all the parts needed to do the job and was completed in about an hour. After the job was completed we talked and I found out that a couple of my neighbors were customers of his. I will definitely be using his services to keep my system running properly.
