I had water leak into the house in 2 places during a rain storm. Kent came out, checked roof and gave me a contract with a description of what needed to be done and an price for doing it. From what he said I assumed that caulking and sealing would be needed is several places and up to 4 feet above the roof in the wood paneling. He said he would send over 2 of his best men. 2 guy showed up, one spoke English and the other didn't. The English speaking one seemed to know what he was doing. He had written instructions from Kent as to what to do. The other knew nothing. They were here for a touch under an hour. 2 weeks later it rained and I had the same 2 leaks. I called Kent several times and each time left a message with no call back. I let things slide until the next rain and this time I had the same leaks plus a new one. I called Kent again. This time he answered on my second call and came over. He said he would send some of his guys over to do a water test to see where the leak was coming from. 5 guys showed up in the late afternoon after working another job, 2 were roof guys, the other 3 just helpers. Their water test did not replicate the leak. They spent about 90 minutes doing things and left. The next rain was a heavy one and water came pouring in. Kent answered the phone when I called and said he would have someone there soon. A guy showed up, saw water leaking in. Said yes, it is leaking, took a picture, and left. He did not go up onto the roof. I called Kent and he said he would be at my house today. No show again. This time I called a roofer who was referred to me by a neighbor. He checked out the roof and outlined the problem. He said that Kents work was useless, that some caulking was done but did not cover gaping holes in the area caulked. That the wall caulking was also inadequate with gaping holes left for water to get in. My problem with Storm Proof Roofing: Poor knowledge Poor workmanship Warranty useless because they do nothing it honer it. A total waste of $550
Description of Work: Painted some sealer on a few metal panel edges. ignored gaping holes in panel caulking. Put some silicone into wood panel seams up to 4 feet above roof. Ignored the rest of the seam. Did nothing that stopped the roof lead when it rained next. Did not honor written warranty.

Craig Hall is a salesman for this company and uses their license to perform work but took my money and never came back to finish the job. The company owner will not talk to me, only has the secretary tell me if the offer was not made on official letterhead then they are not responsible. I paid him on the first day for him to install aluminum pipes (instead of copper when I paid for copper) and he never came back the second day to finish the job. I only found out it was aluminum when I had three other companies verify the pipes and found out they were not. I also had trouble with him in June 2012 when he was supposed to make everything secrure from having rodents in the attic. He gave us a 5 year warranty on the sealer he used to fix the issue. A couple months later the roof looked terrible and he once again did not use the correct products as promised. I have called the owner multiple times and he will never call me back.
Description of Work: Craig Hall was to install 3 vents on the roof to help with the ventilation in the attic.

Overall the work and service were very poor. After taking my down payment the promises made to get the contract failed to materialize. The work did not begin for quite sometime after taking the down payment, it took almost three months to complete the tear off, and replacement of the paper. From there the waiting game began, with one creative story after another for the delay. After 10 months of looking at my home covered with nothing but tar paper I was forced to settle for a clay tile which I never would have chosen but ALL of my choices offered during the sale could not be found. The tile was installed without the support beams in the ridge caps as promised, the gooseneck vents installed leaked, and the turbines were installed so low that their performance in cooling the attic was greatly reduced. After numerous complaints to the Dept of Prof Regulation I got very little help. There is nothing more frustrating that installing a new roof that leaks. Stay clear of this one!
Description of Work: Storm Proof Roofing was hired to replace my Spanish S tile roof.

I am reporting on a problem with the 10 year warranty. Original roofing job was completed in May of 2005. In August of 2007 we encountered a leak which was immediately reported to the company. They did send someone to check it right away that confirmed the leak and said he needed to check paperwork and I needed to provide cancelled checks before work would be done but that he would be back in a few days to place a tarp over the area (this is the rainy season). It is a tile roof and care must be taken when walking on it or they can break so not just anyone can walk up and tarp the area. He did not show up and despite daily calls to the office who assured me he was coming and messages on his cell phone, he continued not to show up. It is now 5 weeks of almost daily rains and still no tarp or work completed. They were notified we have the checks form the original construction company on September 3rd. Do not use this company!
Description of Work: Complete re-roof after hurricane.

Before I used a roofing company I checked references and everything checked out ok. Apparently, as a I later learned, they had complaints against them but the clerk at the Consumer Affairs office failed to inform me and told me they had a good record. They had a very nice, experienced, roofer, named Glen, who gave the estimate and told us he would supervise the job. After taking our money, we never saw him again. He advised us to put cobra vents on the roof. The installers did not correctly install the Cobra vents, and used nails that were too short and not Dade County Approved for Hurricane Resistance, according to some roofers we spoke with. At the first sight of wind the shingles came flying off the house. We only had the roof installed 6 months before when the shingles came flying off. We have a warranty and they did not honor it and make the repairs. It was only a small job and any other company out of a common courtesy would have been happy to do this.
Description of Work: Installed a new roof on my house.
