I live out of state, so State Pro called often and sent pictures to let me know how the progress was going. I could not be happier with the work so I have hired them to do the rest of the remodel of the condo!

Besides being a really nice guy,Gianfranco was very professional, accommodating, punctual and always available by phone. He returned calls promptly. You can tell he cares about his work and takes pride in doing a good job. He pays attention to detail. We made a few changes in our plan after construction began and he accommodated them all in a helpful manner. He always took the time to answer questions and address all of our concerns. We were particularly pleased that he erected a plastic barrier between the work area (our kitchen) and the adjoining dining room to keep the dust and dirt out of the non-work area. He also laid down plastic sheeting with a Masonite cover on a portion of the dining room carpet nearest to the construction. Our work was done in our condo and he always followed our condo association's rules concerning contractors. We found him to be very trustworthy. We were staying at our condo during the construction but we would not hesitate to have him work if we could not be there. Thanks to State Pro Construction we love our beautiful new kitchen!

Emory Woodcraft was our original contact, but all the work was done by JF and his sub contractors. And since Bob Emory is retiring, we figured, might as well write the review here. Punctual and responsive is a great description. It was something lacking from other contractors we contacted. JF called when he said he would, showed up when he promised. That's important. Overall we are very happy. Even with some disagreements as to the quality of some of the tile work in the shower initially, in the end, it was fixed and completed to our satisfaction.

Mr. Marinelli came to give an estimate late last year on behalf of another contractor. We never met the contractor (Emery Woodcraft) we called -- based on reviews from Angie's List -- which is why I'm not leaving this review under Emery Woodcraft rather under State Pro which is Mr. Marinelli's company. I see he doesn't have any reviews yet and I feel his diligence earns him a positive review. Initially, I was a little surprised that I called one contractor and got passed to another, but what I understood from conversations with both Mr. Marinelli and Mr. Emery is that Emery Woodcraft was referring work out to him and they work together on many projects. He arrived promptly and even called as a courtesy to say he was running a few minutes late. He seemed knowledgeable, although he stated that does some of the work and for others he uses trades. The proposal that resulted from the free estimate was a joint one from Emery Woodcraft and State Pro although Emery Woodcraft wasn't going to do any part of the work according to Mr. Marinelli. We opted not to work with them for a few reasons, one of which was that the price largely was for labor only, meaning that the owner was expected to provide the fixtures, sink and tiles (in our situation). While those are things that it's likely best for the owner to pick out, we personally felt that one reason to hire a GC is that they coordinate the logistics once the item is selected. In other words, I'm certainly in agreement to pick something out, but the prospect of coordinating the purchase and delivery of some large items is something I would be looking for a general contractor to do if I hired one. We did like his demeanor and felt he likely would have done a good job, but too many variables overall led us to opt not to proceed with the proposal. Everyone's cirusmtances and projects are different, so even though we did not hire him, I would not hesitate to recommend him to come out to give an estimate. For many others, his services may be a good fit.
