Description of Work: Charlie was recommended by my next door neighbor (he fixed their sprinkler system). My pump was locked (after 20 years), and I needed numerous sprinkler heads replaced. He showed up on time, was very courteous and checked the pump to confirm what I had told him. He said he'd be back the next morning with the new pump. As promised, he showed up, replaced the pump and evaluated the state of my system while I walked around with him. I needed a number of heads and told him that there were areas that I wanted pop-up heads. He gave me a price and said he'd be back the next day. The next day Charlie showed up with a helper and they replaced all the heads we had discussed. There were several cracked pipes that they had to dig up and yet he stuck to his original price. After showing me that everything worked, he set the timer, got paid and left. The sprinklers did not come when they were supposed to, so I went out and checked the timer. It had not moved at all. It too, was 20 years old. I called Charlie and he was here with a new timer within 2 hours. As of this morning, my system is still working just fine. I don't understand how the other comment could be so far from my what I experienced. I'll use Charlie to repair, service or maintain my system from now on.

Description of Work: A neighbor alerted my elderly mother that her sprinklers were not going on, so we called Advanced Irrigation Design (Charles Odom) on the recommendation of that neighbor. His assessment was that we needed a new pump that would cost $575 to install. My mother approved the work on 1/16/12 but Mr. Odom left the premises without testing the new pump. My mother who is 89, called him and requested that he test the pump, since we had no way of knowing if it was working (the sprinklers are timed to go off at 5 am). He came by several days later and after some time, rang the front door bell with an additional bill for $165 for testing the pump as well as checking out each individual sprinkler, WHICH WE HAD NOT REQUESTED. We only asked him to check the newly installed pump --- not every single sprinkler! This additional charge was unwarranted. When I confronted Mr. Odom, he insisted that we had asked him to check the entire system, which was a lie. Later we talked to our neighbor, who is also elderly, and she told us that Mr. Odom, had also charged her for a new pump in the recent past and had also charged her for testing out the entire system, which she had not requested. My suspicion is that Mr. Odom is an unscrupulous business man who preys on elderly people and charges them for work that may not be necessary. Now I really wonder if a new pump was needed at all or whether this was Mr. Odom's way of making some easy money. After relating our experience to our neighbor, she agreed with my mother, that both of them would never use this person again for any problems related to their sprinkler systems.
