+ 1 moreWhen they couldn't get a pump truck the day the on premises estimate was given, I should have tried another service immediately. It was a simple procedure....pump out the tank to see if there were roots or some other problem.
Description of Work: They came to inspect the backed up septic tank, but could not send a pump out truck until the next day. The next day they were supposed to come between 10 and 2, and called to say they would be on time. When no one showed by 1;30, I called them and they said their truck broke down and I would need to wait another day. They didn't respond to the urgency, since my drains were backed up. I called Rapid Rooter and they came with the pump truck within two hours. I had used Roto Rooter twice before with no problems, and assumed since they were the largest and most expensive service, they would have one truck functioning somewhere, and did not expect to have to wait two days more without being able to flush! So all I got was an estimate from Roto Rooter of $425 approximately. Rapid Rooter only charged $375 with a coupon.

+ -1 moreTechnician showed up promptly on time Sunday morning (the next day), assessed the repair, and provided a very reasonable estimate. Other ballpark estimates I received over the phone for the same work on a Sunday were almost twice as much as Roto Rooter. Work was completed promptly and in a quality manner - tech's name was Kevin and he was very courteous and extremely professional.
Description of Work: Called late on a Saturday evening to replace our main shutoff valve that was no longer working. I had turned the water to the house off to do some remodeling work and when I tried to turn the water back on, the valve was no longer operable.

+ 0 moreDo not use this company under any circumstances. There are others on Angie's List. If for some reason you do use them, charge it on Amex and if it goes wrong, you probably can get your money back--but you will still have the problem and need to go through this a second time.
Description of Work: There was a sewage backup. It appeared to me there was blockage, which was resulting in the tub filling with sewage, etc. A worker came to the house. He assessed the problem as a blockage in the tub drain. He did some work and declared it resolved. I paid $200. Within a week, it was backing up again. I called for additional service; they sent another worker (more senior). He checked out the situation and said the first guy was wrong; the problem was in the pipe to the street. He put a grinder device into the pipe and declared all things were resolved. Another $250. He would not refund the first payment and referred me to corporate; they eventually refunded the first payment. In October (the house was empty while I was on Cape Cod), it resurfaced. This time, I called another company. They put a camera into the pipe and showed me the previous work churned up metal flakes which clogged the pipe. To repair their work cost me another $1500. At least now it works.

+ -1 moreEarly in the morning, I could hear water running; however, after examining all possible water connections inside and out, I could locate no obvious signs of a leak. Having used this company twice before with satisfaction (a clogged drain and a plugged toilet), I again called them. The service person arrived promptly and after some searching, concluded that the problem was an old underground water line to an outside faucet. Repair required digging in 90 degree heat and a trip to find compatible replacement pipe (the house was built in 1947). It took several hours, but the job was completed and the disturbed area returned to its original condition. Good work!

+ -1 moreI paid him $500 for that job. They were punctual. The hookup thing he had put was fancy but was not strong, so I had to call him again. He did not give my money back for the first thing he had put.
Description of Work: I used Roto-Rooter for some plumbing work. I brought this washing and drying unit which is a single unit unlike the double unit you get. I had to get a plumber as I wanted a hookup thing for that.

+ 0 moreThe first plumber on the 27th did a good job replacing faucet,grinder,and discharge pipes under kitchen sink.The cutoff valve for hot water line was almost completely cut off,with very little hot water coming from faucet. Upon trying to turn hot water valve fully open,there was a lot of resistance, and it didn't fully open. the cutoff valves were 40 years old and i was concerned that the hot water valve would break if I turned it any more.So I called the second plumber on the 28th to replace both cutoff valves under sink.The second plumber replaced cutoff valves and hot/cold water lines from valves to faucet.full price both days $1480.
Description of Work: Replaced kitchen sink faucet; replace drain pipes under kitchen sink. Replaced food grinder and misc.work on both kitchen sinks. (replaced steel collars on top of both sinks.)The second plumber on following day replaced cutoff valves and associated pipes for hot and cold water lines to faucet.

+ 0 moreHad an underground water leak at the county water main, called Roto Rooter. They sent out Alberto Melendez he had to dig down a couple of feet. He found the leak at the PVC connector to the county's water source. He did a great job of cutting off and replacing the connector. Alberto represents a great plumbing company, Roto Rooter.

+ -1 moreThis is the fifth day in a row that I have been without plumbing in my kitchen after a flood. I have sat home from work for four separate service appointments beginning last Wednesday, each of which were a 4-hour window. Every time, I got a call one hour into my four hour window that said the exact same words(obviously read from a script)a service technician was just wrapping up on another job and will be at my house very soon. Three hours later, still nobody and I had to go back to work. Only one time in all of these missed appointments did someone bother to call me to tell me they weren't coming, and that was today. At the end of my 4-hour window when I was walking out the door to go back to work, someone called from Rapid Rooter and said the guy is not able to make it after all. Needless to say I am going to call someone else.
Description of Work: This is the fifth day in a row that I have been without plumbing in my kitchen after a flood. Rapid Rooter has promised to be here for four separate service appointments beginning last Wednesday. Today, Tuesday, I have been stood up for the fourth time and I will have to call someone else tomorrow. Almost a week without being able to use my kitchen, and four separate days sitting at home waiting for Rapid Rooter. It's shameful that they can stay in business like this.

+ -1 moreThe gentleman was on time and seemed to listen. When we went downstairs to troubleshoot the problem, the gentleman could not seem to locate the drain pipe even though there was an existing hole (albeit a small one). The units are designed the same so the drain are right on top of each other. After several attempts of me trying to tell him how to look through the hole to see the drain he finally saw it. We ran the water. I never saw a leak. He says he did. Going out the door he gave an $800 estimate on the repair. Not being satisfied that he did a thorough enough job to troubleshoot the problem, we hired a handyman to check it out. He cut through the drywall just below the drain so he could have direct access to the pipe & we quickly determined that the tub/shower was not leaking. The leak must have come from another source or another unit. The handyman charged us nothing.
Description of Work: Provided estimate on repair to my bathtub/shower leaking into the unit (condo) below mine.
