Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Contractor arrived as arranged and found no problem other than a less than level line.

They attended and quoted too high

Called them to clean sewer drain. Quickly came to the house. Initial quote to pass a snake through the sewer drain was $340, then dropped it to $250 after bargaining. Work took 10 min, to remove some tree roots. The service guy was nice and explained everything but feel that we overpaid for something that can be done for no more than $120 at another plumber. So unless it is an emergency, try other plumbers.

They fixed the problem and removed the root.

saved us over $4,000.00 to have work performed we didn't need. The problem was on the city side of the property and Oakland Park had to do the work

Good work, probably worth $250, not $375. In the end I used a $40 coupon, but still expensive...I think. If that is the fair market price, then the experience was good.

I called several companies at 0930 Sunday morning. Rapid Rooter was the only one who actually answered the phone. Carey told me their tech would be calling me. Two hours later I recieved a call from their dispatcher who said Mike would be arriving shortly. Mike arrived within 20 minutes and after he checked out the problem he explained my options. The job was finished within 90 minutes. I was very thankful and impressed.

Two technicians came to the house before the scheduled appointment, dug down to the septic tank. A third technician came at the scheduled time with the pump truck. The four drains in the house were jetted and afterward the lead technician made sure that all back splatter from the jetting had been cleaned up. All stages of the process were explained to our satisfaction and when a problem was noted with our drainfield the technician recommended that we not do what we had planned as it wouldn't make any difference which was a cost saving to us. Unforturnately he did recommend a new drainfield (it was installed in 1968 when the house was built) and said he would rather see us put the money toward the new drainfield than spend it on something that wasn't going to work for us. His company does not repair drainfields, so he could have easily done the work we wanted and we would have paid for something that wouldn't have helped. Company policy is not to recommend contractors who repair/install drainfields, but he did provide information as to size of drainfield, etc. and recommended using a drainfield contractor, not just a septic company, to eliminate the middleman.

I was not as happy with the warranty work as I was with the previous service. They left a bit of a mess for me to clean up.

I water heater fried on a Sunday afternoon from a internal rusty leak in the water heater. I called the Roto Rooter 1-800 number and got a women who seemed rushed and bothered that I would dare call on a Sunday. I should have stopped here. But I have a wife and two daughters that would have killed me if I didn't get the water heater fixed. So I asked the lady what it would cost to have it replaced. She said she had no idea. That she could not even give me an estimate. But that the plumber would give me a free estimate when he showed up to my house. She also said that if it needs to be replaced that he wouldn't be able to get a replacement one since it was a Sunday. I asked if I picked one up at Home Depot could they do it then. She said sure. So I booked the appointment and rushed off to Home Depot. Got a Water Heater and headed back home. When I got home the Roto-Rooter guy arrived and seemed upset that I did not buy the water heater through them. I explained that the lady on the phone said that we couldn't on a Sunday afternoon and he said that was wrong and I should have waited. He then said that because it was a Sunday afternoon that the price to swap it out with be $500. I had noticed a same day installation sign at home depot that said $150. I can understand marking up on a weekend but this was ridiculous. But because it was now late on Sunday and I knew I couldn't get anybody else I paid it. He had the new heater up in less then 30mins. Essentially I paid him $1000 an hour to do a job that if I had realized how easy it was I would have done myself. UPDATE: I received a call from Roto-Rooter following up on the above review. I definitely appreciate the follow through and they genuinely seemed concerned with the service I received. And I believe they will follow through to correct the issues I faced. They did state that their price was $500 for a Sunday water heater installation. So I cannot change the review with regards to price. I did however move the professionalism part of the review up one notch because I believe that their follow through was excellent and that they really do want to have good service in the field. I can't promise I would now use them again, but I certainly appreciate the follow through.

I thought that their prices were a little high. They did a good job.

They showed up promptly and did the work. They worked on a most reasonable price and they gave me a discount on some fees for transporting whatever they got out of the drain because I am close to the storage facility. They explained what they were going to do and the guy gave me his cell phone number. They explained the different kinds of claims and I did not know which one was going to be mine. They were informative and the guy who came to do the work was very friendly. It was an urgent matter because we had a road at the rainstorm, so I needed to make sure that I got it cleaned before the next rain and I got the better off them.

I bought a warranty from them that supposedly covered a problem pipe in my backyard. It had been serviced twice before for roots growing into it and blocking my system up. The warranty was sold to me specifically for this, but when the same problem happened again I was told it did not cover pipes with exterior damage, i.e. roots corroding it. I explained that the technician who had sold me the warranty did not explain this to me, and had sold me the warranty to protect me from paying for this same problem for the next year. They temporarily fixed it for free, after hasseling me, but the problem came back 2 days later and I had to have the same argument with the new tech. I did not pay, but was very unhappy to have been sold something that I apparently could not use, and to have to clear my schedule for a second visit because the first time they didn't do a thorough job.

They were way too expensive. I found another company that did the work for half the price. They were friendly and prompt. Everything was good except the price.

Their service turned out great. It was a wonderful experience.

,Repairman came and checked out the two bathrooms, told my neighbor (who I'm doing this report for) that they had a package deal to clean the 4 lines, sink, washer and each bathroom for $650.00. My neighbor, thinking this was an emergency situation and needing to have this done , said ok. Then he told her that there was a problem, and showed her some roots he brought up. Told her he'd have another guy from Roto Router come out with a camera to see where the roots were. Second team came out went up and took picture, then went into the house with some kind of a gieger counter like machine and pin-pointed the main bathroom toilet. Said there was the problems, roots in the pipes and said it would be $2400.00 to fix it. She is definitely going to shop around, this price is outrageous. Showed her a cd of the pictures taken,with the roots, but she is not certain. She told them she could not pay that amount of money and one told her they could do a payment plan with the bank. She told them she'd have to confer with her son. They gave her 10 days to decide. The first repairman was very nice, polite and seemed to know what he was doing. The second team seemed to have one of them in training, as one was prompting the other. She is not happy with the outcome.

This morning, the toilet overflowed while my husband was taking a shower. Turns out we had a clogged sewer line, sadly not the first time this has happened. The last time this happened I used rapid-rooter but, I was not thrilled about spending that kind of money again and we had just missed the 60 day warranty deadline. I called Roto-Rooter at 2 pm and set an appointment for a plumber to come out. The best they could tell me was that someone would be there "sometime before 6:00 pm". At 4:00 pm I got a call from Roto-Rooter saying somone would be at my house between 5 & 5:30 pm. At 6 pm I called roto-rooter and they told me that plumber would be there by 7. At 7:15pm I called roto-rooter and they could not give me a time frame for arrival. I cancelled, not entirely politely, and called Rapid Rooter. Richard from Rapid Rooter was at the house within 30 minutes of my phone call and fixed my problem quickly and cheaply. Richard was professional, courteous, entertaining, and sympathetic. Overall, I had an absolutely fantastic experience and I will never try another company again. Richard gave us a great deal even though we had missed the 60 day warranty. I could not be happier with how it went (except maybe if I had just called rapid rooter in the first place).

I was told that the plumber would be there by 3 pm Saturday. After seven hours, we learned that only one person served the whole county.

Professionalism (or lack of it) is something that is just as important to me as the quality of work. He was competent and the job he performed was acceptable, but there are plenty of others that can do the same job just as well without being disrespectful to me. Figuratively speaking, he threw the coupon in my face.

They were very nice and did a good job. The two gentlemen were very pleasant and helpful. I was very pleased and will definitely use them again.

The initial technician came over, said he couldn't fix the problem and called a second technician. The second technician quoted me an approximate price of $400 - $500. I know plumbers are expensive but this sounded outrageous. I called another local plumber and he completed the job for $200. I think this company is out to scam vulnerable people and I do not recommend them.

We found a crack in the tile, our tile guy told us to have the plumbing checked to make sure that it was not a bigger issue than just the house settling. We called out Roto Rooter to check. At this time they informed us that they pipes that were under the house were copper not PVC, because we lived so close to the water the copper pipes would corrode and explode if we did not install a water softener very soon. We contracted for the new water softener with them. In the middle of the project a neighbor asked us what we were having done. I informed him about the copper pipes and the need for a water softener. He tole me that the builders didn't use copper pipes and that all the piping was PVC so we really didn't need toe water softener. I went to the home builders to make sure. They provided in writing that the homes were built with PVC and a water softener was not necessary. I went back to roto rooter, told them what I had found out. They informed me that it was too bad, I had already paid and that if I wasn't happy they were not going to finish the job. I then went into the main office to speak with the office manager. Who told me that there was nothing he could do and he then threatened to set his Pitt bull on me! At this time I decided to take them to small claims court. I did win my case because they were just trying to pull the wool over my eyes as a new home owner.
