Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I wrote a report on this one already. However, I was contacted by Mr Martinez, a manager, after he saw my report. He said the service technician did not follow company requirements and quickly took care of the cost problem. Mr Martinez was responsive and I felt had my concerns as well as his company concern well covered. I fetl after our discussion that everything was resolved and I would use this Roto-Rooter service again. I will contact Mr. Martinez first.

I called because they say there would be no additional charge for weekends . I have used them one before for the same problem. They said they had a person in my area ant he could be by in less than 3 hours. He called and we gave hime direction. He arrived on time and I explained the problem. We had an easy clean out access and he set up his machine and in 15 minutes the drain was flowing. He went to his truck and said it was $273.00. I questioned the amount and he said that was the normal charge. I went to get the checkbook and when I came back he said had made a mistake it was $337.25. I again questioned the amount. He said that is the normal amount. I unfortunately paid the bill. I called the office I initially called and they told me they do not have set amounts. The service man can charge what ever he wants. I called the manager of the facility on several times and left him messages to call me and he never returned any of my calls. I will never use Roto-Rooter again and will never recommend them to anyone. The nicer the house the higher the price.

For the techs that came out, Bryan, Alex and Fred, each one showed an excellent level of professionalism and knowledge of the issue. And I thank them to the world's end. They were awesome! The whole process took a lot longer than I thought it would take. It appears as though Roto-Rooter is thinly staffed - especially "in your area" during the after hours times. My house is in Hollywood and I was told by the dispatcher that the tech "in my area" is on another call and wouldn't be able to get to my house for another 2 to 3 hrs. I don't understand why they don't have some one on stand by. The really good thing that the dispatcher did was to keep me up to date on almost an hourly basis to let me know that the tech was close to completing the current job or he was on the way. This happened with all three techs. This was a great relief to know that I wasn't forgotten about. They were great, but it just took too long for them to get here. Except for the third tech, Fred, he got here fairly quickly. That's why I gave a GOOD review instead of EXCELLENT for Responsiveness and Punctuality. I first noticed the problem around 10pm. When I realized what the issue was, I made the judgment that I could not fix this on my own with Drano or a snake. I had to call the pros. I called RR as I had done in the past for a related problem. The first tech, Bryan, got to my house around 1:30am. I explained the problem and how it appeared that nothing could be done inside the house, we had to and snake the sewer line from the Cleanout connector outside. He agreed. I knew the location of the cleanout, but we couldn't see it because the grass had grown over it. Here you have 2 men, me and Bryan, poking the lawn with screw drivers, trying to find the cleanout at 2 in the morning. We almost gave up, but we said to try one more time and we found it! Hats off to Bryan!!! Bryan go it open and ran his 80 ft. snake down there, but he found that it wasn't long enough and that he had to call in for another tech that had a longer snake and a camera. Unfortunately for me, at 3:00am, that meant I had to wait. The call went in and I was assured that some one would call me around 8-9:00am and give me a time as to when the next tech could come out. The dispatcher called me around 9:00am and told me that the tech would try to be at my home by 1:00pm. It was closer to 4:00pm when Alex finally got there. Again, he was the closest tech to me, "in my area", and he was on another call. For 2 and a half hours he tried to clear the line but the the snake, though it was long enough to get to the clog (he showed it to me on the camera), his snake didn't have enough torque to clear it because of the distance. The clog was just too far from the clean out and the snake was at it's limit. Plus Alex said it looked like grease, paper and possibly roots that could be causing this. Alex gave me a choice and he said either one would be pricey. I could either get a crew here the next day and cut the pipe just before the clog and clear it then install another clean out there, or call another tech, who was on another call in Pompano, who has a "Jetter". It uses water and high pressure to "blow out the clog". I opted for that option. Alex made the call and told me the price could be anywhere between $700 - $900. I had to do it. I could not wait another day. I needed my bathrooms, plus I had clothes in the washing machine sitting in water! Alex left around 7:00pm and Fred showed up about an hour later. REAL QUICK!!! We went over the issue and Fred went to work. Luckily, his Jetter worked! He was done in an hour. He showed me how the camera saw cracks in the pipes and some remnants of roots - which probably caught and collected paper that eventually plugged up the line. The camera reached all the way to the city sewer pipe and showed the water flowing freely. I was happy! The price was worth it! I should note here that that Bryan and Alex did not charge me for their service calls. After a 24 hour ordeal, including a missed a day at work waiting for Alex, I finally had my line cleared and used my bathroom and shower. I thank Bryan, Alex, and Fred for their expertise and professionalism. RR needs to hire more people like them and have more techs on stand by. It should not take 24+ hours to fix this type of problem when you're paying that kind of money.

This happened 7:30 at night, Roto Rooter does not charge an emergency fee. They do no charge a fee after hours. They quote a flat rate, you are not charged by the hour but most importantly was the fact that it happened at night and two or three places I called before Roto Rooter charged anywhere from $65 to $130 just to come to the house because it was an emergency and it was after hours. They are open 24/7 so if you call them at 3:00 am on Sunday morning, you're gonna pay the same price you would at 3:00 Monday afternoon. I was extremely impressed with them.

Plumber did a great job. Explained how to prevent the main drain not backing up in the future.

Arrived promptly and investigated. Discovered the location of the clog and cleared it quickly.

Bill and Juan showed on time and did a great job replacing a second slab leaking pipe. It was hard work but they never lost their cool and maintained their level of professionalism at all time.

They did great. Bill and Juan showed up exactly at 9 am as per our appointment and they did a spectacular job at a great price. We had 6 different estimates and we know we got our moneys worth for the work done. These guys are true professionals, they know their business, they are patient , answer all the questions we had, they were very pleasant even though I was watching them at every step of the way, they maintaned their professional attitude from start to end of the project. Also, they did the repair with a minimum amount of damage compared to what other companies had proposed. Plus, dealing with a well-known company put our mind at ease. We will defenetely use this company again.

They were clean and neat. They were very honest, low key, and nice to work with. We have nothing bad to say about them. Everything went great and we were extremely pleased with them.

Our service Technician Alexander Perez arrived on time within just a few hours of calling Roto Rooter. He was professional and courteous!!! We had a huge clog in the kitchen sink and after investigating found that it was caused by grease. Alex completed unclogging the drain with the least amount of disrupt to my kitchen and my wallet. I will definetely use Roto Rooter again!

The company sent rep Demetri, who was very professional and knowledgeable. My tub was draining very slowly and the toilet was backing up into the tub. He worked diligently to find the cause, explaining the details all along the way until the problem was identified and fixed, which took a couple hours and a lot of hard work as the clog was extremely tough. It was a dirty job, but he made sure the area was clean and not messy and kept me informed of the progress. I would recommend Roto Rooter to anyone who has a clogged drain or plumbing issues and their pricing is good.

UPDATE:THE STOPPAGE WAS THE CITY'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE ROOTS HE SNAKED OUT WERE ON CITY PROPERTY, NOT MINE. THE CITY CAME OUT TODAY AND THEY WILL DIG UP THE STREET TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE TECH SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WHEN HE FIRST LOOKED INTO THE CLEANOUT. OVERCHARGED AND RIPPED OFF!!!! Have your money ready if that Rapid Rooter machine comes out of the truck, because a camera comes out, too. They charge by the job to be done, not by the hour. They have a set price whether you call on a Saturday or a Tuesday. If your sewer line is clogged the charge is $452.50 no matter how long it takes to clear, and in this case it was just a few minutes. This service also comes with a "free" camera inspection which "normally" costs $600. So be aware you are buying the whole package...snaking and camera service...whether you want it or not. A real person answers the telephone, even on Saturday. Pat, the technician, came out before the scheduled time and they called first to let me know. He was courteous, professional, and once I swallowed hard and agreed to the price, he set about his task and got it done. The camera revealed a break in a connection inside the line, which had allowed roots to get into the system. That sewer line was new, and had been installed by another company 4 months prior. Rapid Rooter's charge to fix that connection? $3,000. I declined and decided to call the original plumber who will come out on Monday to will honor his guarantee.

I had finished a couple of loads of laundry early Monday morning; when I checked the dryer status I realized that there were puddles on the floor. Water was also running under the connecting wall into a den and closet area. I have used Roto-Rooter before for general plumbing problems so called them immediately; it was before 8 AM, so I assume I reached an answering service. The person I spoke to took down the information and estimated a plumber by noon that day. A couple of hours later I received a call advising me that I was "next in line" for service, and still estimating around noon. A call shortly after that changed the time to between 12:30 and 1. At 1:00 I was notified that the plumber was on the way and expected within half an hour. He actually showed up about 4 minutes after the call. Plumber was Bryan Rodriguez. He asked me to explain the problem, actually listened to my information, and asked clarification questions before examining the area. He quickly determined that one section of pipe was broken and that there was a crack in another joint. After checking with his supervisor, he quoted the repair price, which I agreed to, and left to get supplies. On his return he quickly got to work, removing the old pipes and cutting and fitting new pipes and joints. Mr. Rodriguez was exceptionally professional, which of course I expect from Roto-Rooter. He was also exceptionally pleasant and helpful. He cleaned up the area before he left and disposed of the old pipes. Quick, professional, quality; good combination. Roto-Rooter and Mr. Rodriguez continue to be my plumber-of-choice.

They did an excellent job. They fixed the problem, and were helpful answering questions.

Our experience was very good. It was a Sunday and he got here within a couple of hours. It is pretty rare to get a plumber on a Sunday. The price was expensive for what he did. It was a minor plumbing work.

Roto-Rooter came out June 2 and cleared toilet drain. Worked for a few days ans stopped up again. Had to come back out and clear line to septic tank. working fine now.

They did a good job. I had no complaints. If they did a bad job, I would remember.

I called rotor rooter an explain my problem, I was told that someone would be there within an hour.to my surprise the repairman was there 45min later. he was very polite, and knew what he was doing, ( I have some knowledge of plumbing, however my career is different) he completed his work in a reasonable amount of time, and I believe the price was fair, ,, I would vary much recommend Roto- Rooter Plumbing

The technician was very courteous and professional, but I thought the price was a little high.

The plumber was very rude and refused to even try to solved the problem. What kind of company sends plumbers out that have allergies!

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services did an excellent job. The guy was enthusiastic about the job and was thorough and didn't have a problem.

They charged me 720 dollars to look down a drain and charged me too much, I thought. Then they said to replace the drainpipe would be 7000 but that they would work with my insurance company. I asked him why did the other company want to only charge me 2,500 and he said that its a scam to charge me more. I could be wrong, but everything points to the fact that I got taken.

I have used Roto-Rooter for more than 10 years. They are very reliable and they are always very punctual and professional. I am always very satisfied with the work that they provide.

I'm a new lady to the area and needed to have my shower head changed. I tried to do it myself but I just couldn't get the darned shower head off. So being new, I didn't have a handyman or anyone I could call. I googled plumbing services in Aventura and stumbled upon roto rooter plumbing services. I called, and the lady on the phone was very friendly and professional and told me that there was no service charge for the guys to come and give an estimate which seemed perfect for me. I did ask however how much a standard shower head change would cost just to get an idea before hand, and she told me she didn't know. In any event, the guys were really prompt and professional and I really had no issues with the service besides the price. Before they changed the shower head they showed me the pricing list. $175 to change a shower head. Not even the shower arm, JUST the head. Literally something that takes about 10 minutes, maybe even less. I did it. Only because I really didn't have a choice and was tired of taking a shower with the dinky shower head that I had. Honestly, the price to me was absolutely ridiculous and I would only ever call them again in the event of an emergency in the middle of the night if my place was flooding uncontrollably. In fact, there are a few other plumbing issues around here I'd like to fix but at that point I was afraid to find out the pricing for anything else. I'll definitely be looking for another plumber!

The plumber (Marlon, I believe) was terrific in all respects. There was a clogged drain in my daughter's tub and although it took quite a bit of work to clear it, the plumber did so and then left the bathroom in perfect condition. Roto Rooter refused to give me a quote over the phone as to the basic cost of clearing a drain, saying they would send a plumber out at no charge to me and once he gave me the quote, I could decide whether to use them. While I waited for Roto Rooter to arrive, I contacted a couple of other plumbers, and read reviews on Angie's list, and was able to discern what the going rate was for basic drain clearing ($150). Once Roto Rooter arrived and assessed the scope of the job, they quoted me their standard charge for clearing drains (over $300). Having checked with Roto Rooter's competitors, I knew this quote was high, I knew what the market price was and I therefore succeeded in negotiating the price down to $150, in large part because the plumber had already trekked all the way over to my house and it was a win win if he got to do the job. The standard pricing is far too high.....but negotiated down to market price, I couldn't have been happier.
