Chris came to my house on time along with Justin, a trainee, to fulfill my request for ideas, education and a price estimate for four 8' door openings, one 6' door opening, and 6 large window openings. This meeting went well and I was leaning heavily toward their PGT product. At that time, Chris bragged about being the highest volume dealer of the product and he assured me he would compete with anyone's price offering.Once I received the proposal from Justin, I emailed him with questions and concerns. He responded with satisfactory answers. I then decided to negotiate the terms, the price, and their delivery commitment. Chris called on the phone to respond to my counter offer. Basically, I did not want an open ended deal where delivery was vague and the permit costs were exhorbitant. I was willing to give Chris the business with my changes for a final price 'not to exceed' $15,000. Chris reluctantly agreed on the phone. I called other vendors and told them that I settled on East Coast. The next morning my wife and I went to the East Coast showroom to decide on tint, color, and low E coatings. We met Ed the owner who stated that the negotiated price of $15,000 was accepted after some deliberation with Chris. At that time, we were contemplating adding some moneys for additional Low E functions. We left the showroom awaiting a call from them to allow us to decide if we wanted to spend whatever additional costs might be required. A few hours later, Chris called. He said he met with Ed, the owner. He also said he contacted Fort Lauderdale and determined the permitting was going to be over $450.00 (this was untrue). He also bragged about knowing his original pricing was the lowest and accused me of being untruthful about a competitive quote being lower. He told me Ed and him decided they would not honor the negotiated, not to exceed, $15,000. His reasoning for increasing his price was the permit costs, and the fact that he was the best and PGT told him no one could offer a price close to his. I went online and confirmed the permit costs to be only $290.00. At this point, I knew Chris was not being truthful. Also, since he reneged on his commited price, I had my doubts about other commitments he made. Also, since he virtually called me a liar regarding the other vendor's quote, I could not give East Coast my business. This experience troubled me and I would tell other potential customers "beware". I sold capital equipment for 40 years and managed 22 salemen around North America. Never would we commit the cardinal sins of accusing a customer of being untruthful, but most important, reneging on a price commitment.

They were a little more than the other company I got a price from but worth every penny extra I spent and then some.
Description of Work: From beginning to end this company was top notch. Everyone they sent to my house was fantastic. They even had someone at my house to wait for the inspector on the day of inspection. They kept the house clean and did a great job.

Excellent work...in one word... Can't be happier.
Description of Work: In one short sentence the best company I ever dealt with. They explained everything step by step. The crew is very professional and honest. They arrive on time. Their work speaks for it self. My house looks like a new house and I don't longer hear the street noise. The best investment ever. You will not regret using East Coast Windows and Doors. Most important the price was very reasonable and they finished the work when promised. The inspector for Wilton Manors was very impressed with the work. I passed inspection with an A+.

We choose to gety 3 quotes from companies that we felt were reputable and had been in business for awhile. Of the 3 quotes for our windows and doors East coast provided the least expensive quote, plus I liked some of the suggestions that they had for what type of windows and doors would look best. We had a combination of PGT windows and Eastern Architecture windows put in, and the only think that I would do differently is to have them use all PGT windows since I feel that the quality is better as far as ease of opening and closing the windows.

GREAT JOB!They explained everything, didn't push to sell the most expensive windows and described the whole process and time frame. They performed the work quickly and cleanly and did an amazing professional job.The caulking job alone is a work of art!We were actually 2,000 miles away for most of the job, but they communicated and sent photos on a regular basis. The only thing consumers need to know (as with most contractors) is that they will be dealing withthe sales people, the product distributor and the installer at different times during the job, so be prepared and clear at each step.East Coast was great all the way through!
Description of Work: East Coast Windows replaced 27 windows and 3 doors, upgrading old jalousie slat windows to high quality hurricane windows. They did an absolutely FANTASTIC job on everything and worked with us every step of the way.Their price was very competitive, but their customer service and quick response to our inquiry was truly outstanding!Any minor snags along the way were handled quickly and professionally. They were fair about payments and worked with us to change two windows into sliding doors, which changed the whole house!I would use them again and will recommend them to everyone.

On the Friday we were expecting them, the City building inspector arrived before the crew and when we told him the crew wasn't expected for another 15-30 minutes, he tried to tell us we would have to reschedule the installation. We told him in no uncertain terms that wasn't going to happen and the inspector backed down when we told him East Coast was the vendor. He admitted he'd never had problems with their jobs and said he would return Monday for final inspection. East Coast arrived about 10 minutes after he left. Both installers were exceptionally professional and courteous. They took care of moving the larger pieces of furniture and of removing and putting back the window treatments. Although it was a messy job, they took pains to keep the dust manageable and vacuumed up as they went along, as well as covering furniture with plastic or sheets. They removed all debris and completed the job in about 6 hours, as promised. One came back on Monday before the inspector and recaulked a couple areas where the original caulk had settled as it dried. The inspection was fine and we love our new windows. We'll be using East Coast again when we replace the rest of the windows later this year.
Description of Work: We had contracted to replace 4 windows plus a sliding glass door. They came out to do an estimate, then prepared a contract which promised delivery and installation in about 6 weeks. It actually took 8 weeks.

We obtained bids from several companies. Their bid was slightly higher, but felt that their knowledge and care was worth the extra cost. The owner did the measuring and was meticulous. It took about 6-8 weeks from the time they measured until the manufacturer completed the windows and they were ready to be installed. The installation crew came early in the morning each day and worked 3-4 long days. It was a very dusty job, and they were careful to clean up each day. It took about 3 days to complete the work. The new windows and doors make such a difference, one of our neighbors left a note in our mailbox asking if we were interested in selling the house to her. Another neighbor had been away for a few months and thought we had built a new house! The new windows make us feel safer, too. The house is quieter now.
Description of Work: They replaced all of our old windows and doors with impact resistant windows and doors. They also installed new window sills.

Comparably for the same product for 15 impact windwos and 2 doors their price was out of line with 4 other competitors by a minimum of 6k and up. I did select someone else and when I was called by east coast and asked if I had decided on a company I did explain that their price was off by the next closest person by 6k not including any engineering that would be needed as is extra with every company. The 4 other companies were all within a couple thousand of each other, no complaints filed and seemed respectable. The company I ultimately choose has been equally as nice and professional. I did not go with the least expensive company. I went with the most professional at a competetive price comparing impact to impact and warranty to warranty, glazed vs film etc. i really did my homework prior to even solicting anyone and this is the third house Ive done, but the first one in south florida. I even checked and met with code enforcement to have the inspector review the NOA numbers and sheets I requested from the company I choose. East Coasts representatives were extremely nice, and professional. It came down to apples to apples for the dollar amount. Respectfully Tony Rubino

We are very pleased with the windows and the workmanship. From the estimator, to the installers, to the final inpection person, everyone was very professional and knowledgeable. We received estimates from 5 'A'-rated companies (all from Angies list), and East Coast was the best price. After signing the contract and the windows being delivered to East Coast, We asked them if we could wait on the installation due to some family the issues that needed to be resolved before we could move ahead. The owner, Ed, was fine with this and when we called to give the go-ahead, they were on the job in two days.
Description of Work: They installed 10 PGT Impact Casement Windows, including removal of the existing windows and any related stucco or plaster patching necessitated by the work. The work was completed in one day, starting at about 9am and finishing about 6:30 pm. We later noticed that one of he windows did not latch properly, which we pointed out during the final inspection. The necessary repairs were made immediately in addition to some additional touch-up caulking elsewhere on the job. The windows were sized correctly and fit within the existing openings very cleanly with no damage to the existing tile sills. Caulking was well done and the overall look was very satisfactory.

Had windows and 1 door replaced as part of an energy upgrade to the house. East Coast did a great job! They were able to get the window manufacturer I wanted. They came and did all windows (and door) in one day -- except for one window unit that didn't come in until later. Several weeks went by and I had to remind East Coast to install that last window. (Very minor annoyance.) They added a threshold on the new door that looks awesome. I didn't even have to ask for that. Also, on the main install day there was some very minor damage to the front yard, but so minor that I didn't feel it necessary to mention it to them. On the price, they beat another vendor's price by a mile and were also a lot smarter than a 3rd vendor. Extremely satisfied and would work with them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Removal of 14 windows and 1 sliding glass door. Installation of new window / door units. Glass is impact resistant and "low e" (energy efficient). They also handled the permitting and inspection with the city.

Chris was supposed to come out. The company called be the day after to inform me Chris was dealing with his sick child. He then came out a different day and had no knowledge what so ever of windows, expect for the impact windows. I needed the high energy efficient windows and asked what he knew about those. He said he didnt do those type of windows, but he didnt know without having to go back to his office to get the information. I am not sure why he came out to begin with.

I wish I could give A+ ratings across the board to East Coast Windows & Doors. Unfortunately, Angie's List's highest rating is A. I am not exaggerating when I say ECWD did an exceptional job with every aspect of my project, which involved installing 40 PGT impact resistant windows and 4 impact resistant doors. I signed my contract with ECWD on 3/15/12, and work began on 4/20/12. On 4/25/12 the project was completed, and it passed final inspection two days later on 4/27/12. I am very happy with the end result! Everyone I interacted with at ECWD was professional, friendly, responsive, and efficient. The first person I met was Dan Shough the sales representative. He punctually arrived and explained the whole installation process to me, took detailed measurements, and helped me pick the right windows and doors for my house. He was very patient, friendly, and knowledgeable, and at no time did I ever feel pressured into accepting anything I didn't want. At no time did I feel like I was interacting with a used-car salesman! After Dan, I was happy to meet Ed Morris the owner, who visited my house before the project commenced to make sure all the specific details of the project were in order. After meeting Ed, I felt confident I made the right choice in selecting ECWD for the job. Throughout the duration of the project, Ed was very responsive to me, and addressed all concerns I had (as did his brother Rob). I was always able to contact Ed. If I couldn't reach him immediately, I would leave a voicemail message, and he returned my call in a timely fashion. Additionally, I greatly appreciate Ed's professionalism, honesty and integrity in resolving a couple of small concerns that I had. From start to finish, ECWD did everything possible to make the whole process as stress-free as possible for me. And that included handling all issues that arose with the City of Miami Beach Building Department. I'm sure there was a lot of negotiating behind the scenes between ECWD and CMBBD, but I never had to worry about it or become personally involved, because ECWD adeptly handled it and resolved any problems that arose. Furthermore, during the 5-day installation period, either Ed or Rob were always promptly available by phone to communicate with the installation crew to make sure everything was done properly and in accordance with CMBBD requirements. Regarding the installation crew of Robyn, Ravi, Raymond and Fanis, I can't say enough good things about them. They are professional, courteous, punctual, friendly, hardworking, self-motivated, skilled craftsmen who removed all the old windows and doors and expertly installed the new ones with military speed and precision. Even though they worked quickly, everything was done with care, and nothing was done sloppily. And, at the end of each workday, they cleaned up all the debris that resulted from that day's work. All that was left each day was a fine layer of dirt, which is to be expected and which I easily mopped up after the project was finished. In summary, I would most definitely hire ECWD again, and I would, without hesitation, recommend them to my family, friends, and Angie's List members. To whoever is reading this review I would say: If you choose ECWD to install your windows, I'm confident you will be very happy with the results. And, by giving them your business, you will be supporting a first-rate company that deserves to prosper. Thank you ECWD, and thank you Angie's List without which I would not have found this company!

Working with East Coast Windows and Doors has been an awesome experience. From the sales floor of their showroom working with Justin, to their in-home consultation with Chris, to the actual install with Ed, Russell and Tom. Everything has been very well communicated, so it was clear where we stood, what would happen and how long it would take. Their scheduler Heather is excellent! Every deadline was met on time. Small problems were easily resolved, for example, they matched the locks and look to our original 2009 doors. Russell and Tom were great when they did the actual install today. And, to top it off, the city approved the doors on the day they were installed so our permit is now approved. After the install was done, they guys did the crown moldings and also did a good job cleaning up. Everything looks really great. It turns out that we need some tweaking done to the locks, and Ed from East Coast is arranging to have this done on a Saturday. We are very pleased with East Coast Windows and Doors and would definitely recommend them and work with them again.

We did not sign a contract with East Coast due to their unresponsiveness.
Description of Work: I solicited 2 quotes for impact resistant windows and patio doors - one from East Coast and one from Atlantic Armor. Both vendors came out very quickly and provided quotes. A few weeks later we followed up with East Coast hoping to sign a contract with them but they did not return emails or phone calls. We called again a week later and were told the sales person's wife had just had a baby and he would be out for the balance of the week and would call the following week. It is now a month later and NO ONE ever called back or contacted us. We gave the contract to Atlantic who was VERY responsive, always called if they were delayed and followed up on all details. They even provided referrals and I visited one of the houses where they did a job. The homneowners were very pleased at how well Atlantic responded to their needs. My windows have been ordered and I will provide comments on Atlantic after the installation takes place by the end of April. J Neumann Cooper City, FL 03/06/12

Fantastic experience. One of the best home improvement companies I have done business with in Florida. You could tell that East Coast knew what they were doing from the first encounter. I know nothing about windows and got a complete education and design help. They were very patient and redid the estimate a few times to try to save me money while preserving the look of my home. Shopping for Windows is not an easy experience. I met some very nice salesmen/owners along the way but East Coast stood out. I also liked they had a physical showroom . I was very nervous about the installation process as I imagined it was going to be a nightmare to have all my windows and doors changed while I live in the house. To my surprise the job went perfectly and was not a horror show. . The installation crew was top notch. It was unreal the speed and quality of work that the crew performed on time everyday. My job had many custom windows and the perfect measuring made the installers job easier. .They always cleaned up the jobsite before leaving for the day..I have had an electrician hanging a ceiling fan leave more of a mess then the pros at East Coast Windows. The minor follow up work was done immediately. This is a true family business that I am happy I gave my business to. My windows are quality and look great. Thanks!
