I would love to rate this company higher but simply can't. Mr. Toscano seems like a very nice man and maybe I just had bad luck. We were remodeling a small kitchen and were told that if, we selected a particular type of granite, we would need only one slab. However, after we had already purchased, through Decocrete, a nonrefundable slab for $1,400, and given our $500 sink to Decocrete, we were told that we needed to purchase a second slab for the final four square feet countertop. We ended up purchasing 120 square feet of granite and only used 46 square feet at a cost of over $80 a square foot, which was more than "hardware store" or the other places that both sell and fabricate marble had quoted us. We eventually used some of the left over marble for a table top and did not totally waste all the second slab. We have reservations about the fabricators used by Decocrete. Both our table top and our sink counter have a defect in the stone which is only a couple of inches from the edge. Maybe this could have been polished out but in any event, I think a more careful inspection of the slab would have allowed the cuts to have avoided this blemish, particularly since we had some much waste. The fabricators also incorrectly cut the small slab that goes behind our slide in range. It is too big and our range will not slide all the way in. Since they had left before we discovered this (after telling us that they couldn't slide our range in since the epoxy wasn't dry), and it is now epoxied to the other counter tops, it would be difficult to redo this without damaging the rest of the countertops. Fortunately we are only off by about a quarter of an inch and it is not too noticeable. However, this was just carelessness. In summary, I liked Mr. Toscano but I can't say that I was pleased with my experience with Decocrete. I would also recommend that anyone purchasing granite counter tops deal with a vendor that both sells and fabricates the granite. I think the integrated dealers do the fabricating on a daily basis and are probably both more efficient and provide a higher quality end product. I also think this would avoid getting caught in the middle like I was where I purchased a slab which the seller would not take back and was forced to buy a second slab from the granite dealer when an integrated provider would have simply charged me by the square foot.
