We wanted to have our HVAC system inspected and maintained, and a neighbor referred us to Coastal Comfort. They were able to schedule the HVAC inspection and maintenance for the following week after we called, and the technician showed up right on time. He was very professional, and did a great job checking and cleaning the system, which included vacuuming the unit and the coils, cleaning the condensate pump and replacing the clogged drain line, checking the thermostat settings, checking all the ducts to make sure they were properly sized and functioning with no leaks, and answering all of our questions. The cost was a little higher than some of the other "specials" we saw on Angie's List, but Coastal Comfort included everything in their price versus adding on additional charges for things like coil cleaning. Overall, we were very impressed with Coastal Comfort and would highly recommend them!

Called on Monday was told they would be out the following day between 9-11 am . I had to ask how much for the service call which was 90.00 with no mention of anything else. I described the problem. The following day I cleared my schedule and waited between 9 and 11 am. NO SHOW, NO CALL, NO EMAIL, NO TEXT, NO TWEET OR ANY OTHER COMMUNICATION. I called at 2:15 pm and asked what the problem was and was told they were on route. I told her not to bother I didnt give up my morning and now my afternoon with no one to have the decency to call and let me know what was up. To the company : With today's unbelievable competition the cost of obtaining a customer is high and keeping the customer informed as to what is happening even before you meet is imperative. We all understand that schedules get messed up. Its when you make no effort to communicate and think people have nothing better to do but to wait around is a big mistake. My time is just as valuable if not more than yours.

not good. see above, very cold attitude, not friendly at all. I did not want to pay $90 plus cost of parts (no parts involved in an estimate). no work done, did not want them to come out since I did not like her attitude. She said only free estimates if I had a new a/c unit to be installed.
Description of Work: i asked to get an estimate for a replacement Erie Valve, they said no phone estimates and for someone to come out and give me an estimate, it would be $90/hr plus cost of items. I tried to explain it was just an estimate and no work to be done until I know the cost. she was very short with me, did not like her approach to a potential new customer. So will not consider them.

I think I said it all already. Coastal Comfort employs skilled people who get the job done right. The office staff is great. The company is reliance and honest. Carol, their office manager, strives to make everything work out right and I'm sure that I am not the only devoted and loyal customer that they have. I cannot imagine using any other company to maintain my residential air conditioning unit. And they do not overcharge for their services, either. Thank you, everyone, at Coastal Comfort!
Description of Work: Followed up on a high humidity issue that the manufacturer of the unit and thermostat had dismissed as "needing a new thermostat". That was not the case, however. The original installation by another company a few years earlier was flawed and Coastal Comfort tech figured it out and corrected the problem that was causing a very wet, dank atmosphere in the house, making it difficult to breathe at nite and causing other unpleasant issues, as well.

This was the most professional service tech! He was so fast and so knowledgeable that we were very impressed. He was well trained and provided excellent customer service.
Description of Work: Troubleshot our aging Trane air conditioner in the September summer heat. There was no cold air at all. We had had an earlier estimate from another company who gave us a 500 estimate which was going to require two men and moving the great old machine. We called Coastal and they sent Jason out within hours. He very quickly found a capacitor which had burned out -replaced it and was on his way to his next job.

Called them before they opened, left a message with their answering service asking for a call as soon as they opened. No call received. Called as soon as they opened. Was advised a tech would be out 2-6. Never showed up, never called. Called them for status at about 5:30. They're closed. Answering service asks if I would like someone paged, I say yes. No call back. Then surprisingly, I received a call about 9 from a tech advising he was on his way. Showed up about 10, quickly diagnosed and corrected the problem and was very courteous and professional. So, overall they could do better advising customers on the status of calls, and showing up on time, but I was impressed that they would send out a tech this late, and was happy with the cost.

My air is blowing stagnant, so I called to have a tech come look at it. Their profile says they do free estimates, but the tech wanted to charge me $135.00 just to come take a look at my unit + additional labor and parts if needed. When I mentioned that the company lists free estimates on Angie's List, he replied, I have to charge you time in a half to come out on the weekend. If that's the case, then the company should make note it - their profile is misleading. In addition, $135 is a lot of money just to give an estimate on a unit. They're greedy, I'll never call them again. -Henry

I regret to say I can not give a positive review. I selected this provider from Angie's list hoping I'd get a good provider. I had previous good experience in selecting providers from Angie's list, but not this time. I will give props for coming on the weekend. My A/C went out on a Saturday night. I called Sunday and this provider had technicians on call and one eventually came out. And, not many providers would come out on a weekend. Another positive would be that they honored the work that was previously done. But that is about as far as it goes for positive feedback. Here are the negative experiences 1) The technician tried to merely oil the fan that I had. That did cause the fan to start back up. However, it went out again after the technician left. So I was back at square one on a weekend. 2) The technician had to be scheduled to come back out, then on a Monday. He installed a new fan motor. However, within the week that one went out; and you guessed it, the following WEEKEND. 3) When I called them to come back out, I told them a tech had come the previous weekend, but they made sure to tell me that if it was not related to the work already done, then I'd be responsible for it. I get that in concept, let's say if it WAS a different part. But I figured the likelihood of it being a different part was low, and I didn't like that being shoved in my face. I would have appreciated it more if they had been more concerned with getting my A/C to work. 4) The new technician that showed up had no information that another tech from the same company had come out. He quoted me a price to replace the fan motor, which another tech had installed. I had to show him the invoice from the previous tech. He then called in, and after deliberation there was not going to be a charge to me to replace the fan motor (know that this was the NEW fan motor). As it turned out, the new fan motor that was put on was not one made for my A/C unit. 5) The person that answers the phone is merely some dispatch, and has no knowledge of the business they are in. She has no technical knowledge, and acts only as a go between. Almost like I was speaking to a high school student. 6) the techs don't seem that well skilled, or knowledgable. 5) in the end my 2nd newest fan motor seems to be working and my A/C is working fine. So, all is well which ends well, but I wold prefer a mom and pop type shop where there is quality customer service. Not the feeling I"m dealing with some gigantic comany that doesn't care except for the all mighty dollar.

(THURS)June 5 we made the call to Coastal Comfort. Spoke to Billy(project mgr), explained what we needed done and he promised to show up the next day for the onsite visit. (FRI)June 6 we met with Billy early am, inspected the work to be done, he gave an estimate of what it would cost and promised a quote by the end of the day. We received quote for $435, well below the number he gave earlier in the day-so already a good sign of things to come. Signed and approved quote once we compared to other quotes and realized Comfort was the best choice. (MON)June 9 contacted Billy for an ETA on the services. He replied with an honest time of Wednesday at noon-which was perfect. (WED)June 11 Coastal Comfort team showed up at 10-even earlier than expected! Great dual of Tommy and T performed excellent and professional work within 2 hours. Clean job, professional communication and great energy. By noon(the original work time) all was done...good to go. JOB: Converted an air return to an air supply by going above the conference room drywall ceiling and tying into the air supply line and capping off the air return which was no longer going to be used. All this was for the conference room, which we happened to have a client in at that time. They found a way to do all the work outside of the conference room without any interruptions with our clients. WE WILL USE THEM AGAIN IF NECESSARY WE RECOMMEND THIS TEAM VERY CLEAN WORK, no "post-work" mess, finger prints, dirt or dust. PROFESSIONALISM IN COMMUNICATION

Yesterday my A/C unit stopped making cold air. Compressor and air handler were running, just no cold air. I called Coastal this morning based on reviews on Angie's List. They had someone here at 2:30PM same day, and figured out the problem. The guy that came out was extremely professional and nice, and fixed with minimal effort. Checked the rest of the unit as a courtesy, and on his way. WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THESE FOLKS.

It is no wonder today that Coastal Comfort has the respect as one of the finest air conditioning companies in Broward County. They use quality products and their service techs do the finest possible work. When you call for service, you will be cheerfully greeted by their staff and you can be confident that any problem will be handled professionally and expedited as quickly as possible.
Description of Work: Being in Property Management for 28 years, I have known Tony and Tim, since the beginning of their careers. They were always very personable and worked very hard to make Coastal Comfort Air Conditioning the success it is today. Throughout the years, they installed new air conditioning towers, new individual units, submitted quotes, etc., and provided excellent service and expertise for our complex and residents. All of the above continues to this day, through hard work and dedication, for the benefit of their customers!

Vendor is outstanding. My wife called and they were very nice to her on the phone (rare down here we all know). As soon as we told them we had no air they made it a point to get out there same day. Tech, Charlie (or Charles) came out and immediately knew the issue. Quoted us the price if it was under warranty, or if it wasn't. He also advised they would try to find the motor locally but they were finicky and sometimes difficult to get. We called back the next day for an update and a manager called back within 30 minutes advising they found a motor and would be out that afternoon to fix. Same tech came out and after opening everything up realized he had been given the wrong part from the manufacturer. He drove back over to the manufacturer, got the correct part,returned to the house and got us cool again. So thankful for outstanding service!!!!!!

Zee came out to double check my install with Coastal Comfort as I wasn't sure if the startup and running noise was normal. He checked out the unit top to bottom and filled in some cracks with foam. This company is five star in my book.

The owner came out, determined what I wanted and within 48 hours the workers were out installing the new unit. All went well until 3 weeks later when the unit simply stopped working. I called the company and they were out the next morning to fix the problem and its been working fine ever since.

Not only did Coastal send out a really knowledgeable, helpful tech, they sent him out right away. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it the next day for about $300 less than what my former company would have charged.

Me and my better half shopped for 3 quotes on AC and Heat for our new "say goodbye to snow and below zero" condo. Lenny was the only one who would look you in the eye and give you a no BS assessment without oversell. One vendor didn't even bother to formally write up a quote and send as he said he would. The other Costco vendor was overpriced and pushy-that cash back card doesn't amount to a hill of beans. (btw from a previous property the same thing happens with Home Depot HVAC-someone has to pay the commission to the front guy) They were able to get us in right after closing AND during the holidays. You can tell a lot about a company when the employees are happy as h*** when working in the sweaty heat. They were great and explained a lot of things I would have never thought of for maintenance. And you can tell a lot when the owner has actually done the work himself at one time and shows up at the start of a job to introduce his employees. Even after a couple of weeks of Frigidaire Virginia Dare (well, not really, it was a Ruud) Lenny was more than happy to take the time to answer some simple questions. I would definitely recommend them to anyone, esp. if you are new to Paradise!

I was most grateful for their honesty in not trying to charge me for parts that were not needed. I was also most appreciative of him coming out so quickly. To me this is another excellent example of the kind of customer service they deliver
Description of Work: I have used Coastal Comfort several times. The first time was in November, 2013 for a routine preventive maintenance visit. I had used another AC firm in the past and was not happy with them. The Coastal Comfort technician was meticulous about checking both of our units and in documenting the pressures and amperage. He put a sticker on the unit so the next technician would know what he measured and when. He showed me each step of what he was doing. One of the unit's motor amperage was running high and he showed me the manufacturer's spec on where it should have been. He took the time to explain to me that we could wait and monitor it, or replace it. Since we are not there all the time, we thought it best to replace the motor. He took me through what it would cost and we agreed. The Technician went and immediately got a new motor from Trane, installed it and verified the amperage was within spec. He carefully cleaned up after himself. The immediacy of service, the attention to detail and reasonable cost ($300) was an example of excellent customer service. The second time I used them was on Dec 23rd, 2013 ... one of the units seemed to be making a chirping like sound. I called at 7 am to ask for someone to come and to schedule a service call. The phone person took my information and by 8 am, the service person called and said they would have someone at my place by 9 am. The technician called by 8:30 to say he was on the way. The problem turned out to be the edge of the filter vibrating a bit weirdly and generating the noise. The technician just bent it back a bit and the noise went away.

We decided to get the work done and they did a most timely and excellent job. I think the cost was reasonable. The technician did an excellent and neat job with careful attention to detail and confirming testing. He also took the initiative to explain to me each step and why. I would definitely recommend Coastal Comfort
Description of Work: Routine maint revealed high voltage on one of the fan motors. Tech carefully showed me specs and how we were running high. We discussed various options including just watching. Since we are not always there we decided it was prudent to replace it Recently used Coastal Comfort to do periodic HVAC maintenance. They arrived promptly on time, took time to perform maintenance with careful attention to detail. Pointed out high voltage on one units motor and provided options on how to proceed. We decided to get the work done and they did a most timely and excellent job. I think the cost was reasonable. The technician did an excellent and neat job with careful attention to detail and confirming testing. He also took the initiative to explain to me each step and why. I would definitely recommend Coastal Comfort
