Broten Garage Door Sales

I called Broten 7/9 to get an estimate for installation of a driveway gate motor and repair of overhead garage door. I was told that Marco would be calling me "shortly." After a week later and no call, I called Broten back to advise them that I intended to give them an "F" on Angie's List but, as a courtesy, I was alerting them in advance of what had occurred. They apologized, said they would inquire as to how and why there was no follow up and/or why the company rep never got the message. Then I received a call from Marco 7/19, who said he was in Orlando, and he scheduled a special appointment for the sales/service call on the evening of 7/22. That evening, Marco didn't show up or even call. He did call the following day but at that point I was too angry to give this company yet another chance. The best I can say is that, other than for my time, I didn't get ripped off.

They are great. The gentleman was very professional and they came at a time that was convenient to me. Their prices were reasonable.

I've used Broten before and they are excellent. Garage doors and openers are all they do and they know their business. I completed an online request form at midnight, and by 8am they had called my wife and scheduled a time later that same day. Daniel had everything done in just under an hour and the door is working like new. Considering that my research online indicated about $100-125 per spring, 2 springs for $239 including tax seemed a very fair price. Word of advice - with heavy garage door use, these springs may only last 5-7 years - lubricate them every few months, and replace both when one breaks. In my opnion, Broten is a leader because they know their industry and products, charge fair prices, and offer outstanding customer service.

A different vendor had tried to fix the entry system for six weeks, culminating in them shorting out the entire phone system during their last try. I called Broten Garage Door and Gate and they sent James right out, same day. He was GREAT! Professional and knowledgeable, a far cry from my experience with the other company. James immediately identified the fact that the previous tech had shorted out the phone line. After the phone company did their part to repair the line, James came back out and in 20 minutes fixed the entry system, remind you, something the other company could not do, even though they had been out in excess of six times. The entire Broten team was fantastic, and we will most certainly use them again.

Their service was very good. They were very good and very professional too. Their price was very good because the prices quoted by the other companies were higher. The quality of work was excellent. They were excellent in every way.

I called 4 days in advance to arrange for a garage door opener to be installed and was scheduled for a convenient saturday time. The saleperson failed to book me with a technician. I called an hour after my scheduled appointment and I spoke w/ Daniella. She was able to get me back on the schedule at the last minute. Dennis, the garage technician, came out and was very professional. He installed the opener in about an hour and gave a thorough instruction on proper use and maintenance of my new opener and existing door. I would highly recommend this company to others!

The installer arrived at the agreed upon time. He carefully installed the opener. Once installed he tested it several times and lubricated and checked the door for proper operation.

I am truly impressed with this company, service and installation. They made this very easy. They had a special on for a garage door opener "with installation" that amounted to about $100 -$125 more than the cost of door openers I priced at Sears, Home Depot and Lowes. Having read a number of reviews on self installations of 6-8 hours, the extra 100 or so was worth saving the time and aggravation, and I am a handy guy. BTY - Broten had the entire job done in just under 2/hrs. Broten provided a great product (LiftMaster Model 3850 Belt Drive Battery Back-up Garage Door Opener for 7' high door "installed" with two deluxe transmitters and an outside keypad $389.00), excellent service and a great installation. They did what they said they would, called 3x's to confirm the install appointment, showed up on time and provided a competent and experienced installer. And I don't have to be concerned if all was done right. I would definitely use and recommend Broten w/o hesitation.

They came on time, and helped me move items in the garage in preperation for the installation. They were very professional and quick. The price was quite high, but I expected that.

After doing research on Miami-Dade Building Code web site on garage doors and recommendation from Angie's List we did cold call visit to Broten's sales office. Randy, sales rep, led us on tour of assembly area and sales floor to show us options in doors. Explained differences in construction and cost. After lots of questions we chose top of the line. There was a discount as an Angie's List member, and an upgrade to garage door opener with back up battery and outside control box. No pressure or upselling as we knew what we wanted after our research. The price quoted was less than we had anticipated and we did not shop any other companies. Randy came out to measure, was on time, and provided us with larger color samples to help us make choice. Office staff was helpful in keeping us informed about schedule and delivery. Door came in in timely manner, and Broten stored door for couple weeks before we were able to get down to Florida for installation. Arrived on time on installation day, finished quicker than expected. Workers were courteous, cleaned up after themselves, made sure everything was tight and adjusted, explained opener operation and maintenaince on door and left lubricant spray. We were very pleased with everything they did and would not hesitate to recommend them.

The garage door doesn't close properly and the seal is damaged. They are telling me that I should hire someone to cut out some of the floor so the door will close.

the salesman was knowedgeable and informative. it only took a few weeks for the door to be ready for installation. the installers did such a great job that i did not have to repaint where the trim was placed. they finished the job in just a couple of hours, leaving me with a clean garage.

Everything went fine. I had three estimates including Broten. All the estimates were close but Broten was a little less due a promotion they were having with one of their suppliers. The salesman came promptly and punctually. He was knowledgeable and helpful. The installers were about an hour late but seemed pleasant and competent. I did notice that that some of the support bands for the door braces are not exactly straight and there was some apparent "trial and error" drilling in the garage ceiling. I don't think these items impact the function in any way and I don't notice it unless I look for it (I didn't notice it when I inspected the doors prior to paying the installers). I do think they could have used a template or took a little more time in getting everything symmetrical. The city building inspector said that it looked like the installers did a good job of installing the door and also that Broten was a good company. He had inspected a lot of their doors over the years and had never failed one.

The technician was pleasant and did a good job. However, the office confirmed someone would be out by 4:00 pm, I called around 8:30 am. It was a Saturday and when no one showed up or called by 4:30 pm, I called to learn the office was closed. Around 6:30 pm the tech called and said he could come over. He said he had been delayed on another job. I felt either the office or the tech should have called by 4:00 pm to let me know what was going on. He got to my house around 7:00pm.

The only complaint is that Broten canceled the first appointment after I took off work to await their service call. Other than that everything went OK.

Great, the job was done neat, fast and quote was reasonable.

I tried to go through two other big name home supply companies and neither one of them could get me a new garage door because of the size. I was so pleased that Broton could do the work for me. They were very polite and friendly. I had no problems at all with their work. The price was very fair.

They installed the door very quickly and professionally. There was an issue with squeaking and they came out sprayed lubricant on the spring and gave me a brand new can of lubricant to spray on the spring every six months.

Spring broke on garage door. I Wasn't about to go through raising this heavy door by hand again! Only 1 spring broke but had both replaced. I called in morning and service man was there by afternoon. Replaced both springs, checked, tested and lubed door. Works better and quieter than it ever has.
