Bentley Roofing

This was simply a case of making an appointment and having them completely not show up, without the courtesy of even a phone call. I hate to write a bad review but people need to know this. I guess this happens to people all the time but not to me. How can you stay in business if people are going to write that you just didn't show up for an estimate? Guess I dodged a bullet, better to find out before they start the work and you pay them money.

In my original conversations they were prompt and attentive. I should say that between the bidding process and the installation, I moved to another state and rented the house. However, the job got scheduled and completed without too many glitches. My tenant has not complained about leaks or other issues and the house looks very good. That was all in September of last year. Then a friend of mine visited the property recently to view the house and informed me that the new fascias that were installed are unpainted. I probably should have thought of that, but didn't. And I put some blame on Bentley for not following up with me. Other than asking for payment, they were non communicative over the entire job. The other part of the problem is that while they replaced the fascia, they left in place soffits that were in very poor condition. Now maybe they don't do that, but I think it was discussed in the bidding phase. They didn't do it, and they didn't tell me that this work needed to be done. Communication is really poor with this company, although in the beginning it was really good. I eMailed them the photos attached and asked if they could make the necessary repairs a month ago and they have not responded.

I checked with 4 or 5 companies and they were the best price plus they answered the questions I had.

This review is not so much about the money but the principal of taking care of a repeat customer. My first encounter with Bryan , the sale rep was in 2014 when we first purchased our home. I knew then that there was a leak around our chimney. I had three estimate. They weren't the cheapest but Bryan assured me that the technician would be knowledgeable in regards to the leak and would do a good job. I was shocked to learn that the tech came left materials removed the layers of shingle and left the job. When I contacted Bryan he and the tech that left the job open came back the next day and completed the repair. 14 months later the same area of roof started to leak again . Bryan told me this was not related to the earlier repair and it would cost another $1300 ($2600 total ). I was a little hesitant but went with him again. this was August 2015 , now February 2017 the roof is leaking in the same repaired area. Mike Devany (the owner) told me that with the volume of work his company does he doesn't have the time to follow behind his crews to see that their work is up to par but would be willing to look at the issue, after threatening to call the county for substandard work to which he laughed and told me that would go no where. Just because they have an angieslist A rating doesn't mean that they provide the same level of service to all . Buyer BEWARE.

In reflecting on the things accomplished this year, I realized one of them was purchasing a home and putting a new roof on it. Couldn't have done done it without Bentley Roofing! I did my homework, called several roofing companies and found that Mike from Bentley was the most knowledgable and professional one, listening to all of my concerns as options were discussed. After having the roof inspected, it was clear that the best option was a new roof (had the original roof). I expected the quality and professionalism. What I wasn't expecting, and was pleasantly surprised with, was the time frame - how fast my new tile roof was completed - and how the roofing crew took every precaution to protect my new home. They covered my outside plants, driveway and pool area to minimize debris. And, after the roof was installed, they sent Christian (a team member with a delightful disposition) to my home to clean up any tar left behind on my driveway and home entrance. Thank you Mike, Christian and Misty (lovely Office Manager) for making the new roof process a pleasant experience. Your ability to ensure that all permits were taken care of, along with working with me through the process with a positive attitude, no matter what "hiccups" showed up (there will always be hiccups with a project like this), are greatly appreciated! Excellent! Bentley was the lowest cost of the 4 estimates I got and the only one which accepted a $1000 deposit with the balance paid on completion. Site was cleaned daily and work proceeded quickly despite numerous rain shower delays. It was a pleasure to work with Bentley Roofing. Everyone was very responsive, polite and helpful. I recommend them highly.

Workmanship did not look adequate, so I called them back to repair again. They fixed the symptom but not the problem. Leak re-appeared from interior ceiling a few months later a few inches from the original. Called back and investigated. Found problem to be at the stucco - Flashing interface. Said I needed a mason, not a roofer. Called another Angie's List contractor to repair the flashing and roof.

Terrible service and repairs. I can't imagine it going worse. We pre-paid for a roof inspection. Numerous attempts were made to set up an appointment with Bentley. We stayed home the entire day on two separate occasions and they never showed up. Several calls were made to them to find out where the guy was but we got no return call. On the third attempt, two guys showed up but never got on the roof. They said they would send a tech out the next day. We told them we couldn't be home that day and they said we didn't need to be there. Ridiculous. Again, no one showed up. Our roof had a small leak and we needed to get it fixed. We called them again and they said the guy that was assigned to us no longer worked for them. They said they would send someone else out. They claimed he came out when we weren't home and inspected the roof and fixed the leak. We got no information on the condition of our roof or what was done. Next rain we learned the roof was not fixed. We came home after a week away to find our ceiling and wall falling apart, and mold. I called back and they said the roof should not still be actively leaking and they would send someone out the next day. They promised to call us back and let us know the status but they never did. We called them again and they said the guy had come out and fixed it again. Next rain, and we learned it's STILL LEAKING. To date they have not communicated with us regarding the condition of our roof or shown us any evidence that they ever even got on the roof. The only times they claim they were there was when we weren't home. Since the roof is still leaking, and they were no-shows on three occasions when we were home, we have serious doubts they ever even got on our roof. We still haven't received any kind of report or communication on the condition of our roof. We called them again and they said their system didn't have any notes that they had come out again. She said she would check with the tech and call me back. They left us a voicemail the next day and they said the work was completed. NO IT WASN'T!! IT"S STILL LEAKING!! We want our money back. We had delayed the installation of new carpet pending the roof repair. The new carpet is now is now in and we still have a leaking roof with our ceiling continuing to fall apart and mold damage that we could have avoided with proper service. I will NEVER recommend this company. If fact I will be telling everyone I know to avoid them. All they have done is cost us money in additional repairs we now need. I honestly don't know how this company has stayed in business.

Provider never came to provide the estimate. They did not called to set up an appointment. Although I contacted the provider via Angie's List on two different days, and the response was quick both times, saying a "project manager" would contact me to set up an appointment, unfortunately it's been two weeks and I haven't heard back from them. In the meantime I had three other roofers come to my property for an estimate and I'm ready to award the job to one of them. Yet another provider who plain ignores clients, what a shame.

They have been good about follow up. They are very responsive and have been very good thus far.

the Estimator never came to my home when I called to find out where he was he told me he had a emergency on a job site. I was told that one of his workers fell off the roof. which begs the question how well they follow safety protocol's. He told me that he could give me a estimate from a satellite picture of my house not sure how that would work? I would not use them in the future

They gave me a quote for the total replacement of the roof because the repair was so extensive and really, he had little confidence that the repairs would last very long.

The service was fine. The quote seemed quite thorough. The gentleman was very forthright about the situation. He did not really recommend for trying to repair it due to the age of the roof. I thought he was honest. My experience was very good. They were on time. He took his time and explained what he was doing. The quote seemed reasonable. I have no complaints. I would certainly use them in the future for another quote.

I was really impressed by the amount of information, and the amount of attention that he gave to our issue that we were having.

Let me start out by saying my house had a lot of issues. The roof was 24 years old, had been repaired one too many times over its lifetime, and just had an elastomeric coating fail in several spots. Brian was very responsive and came out the next day. He basically told us it could be repaired but it would be a waste given the roof conditions. The second thing he said to do was file a claim with insurance because we had damage on the inside that could be covered. As owners that didn't reside at the property, this did not even occur to us, but in the end we had some of the inside damage covered. Brian met us over the holidays in a different state to sign the paperwork. It was a coincidence that his family was in the same city, but it shows how dedicated he was to the company. It wouldn't have been a big deal for us to tuck it in the mail, but he wanted to explain everything to make us sure of our decision of color. The pricing was fair, not on the low end, not on the high end, about $20k for a decent barrel tile roof that had 2,200SF under air. The thing that impressed me was the quality of the tile and underlayment was better than others that I had look at the job. They were also super familiar with Broward county. I had a competing quote that was better and although they didn't match the price, they did pull back on their bid a bit by using a stock tile design. The real fun started afterwards. The insurance company wanted the roof tapped, then untarped, then retarped. Brian helped to negotiate the whole process and also the color selection through the HOA that took forever. The execution was also flawless. Not one complaint from the neighbors, and we have a neighborhood that complains about the wattage light bulb you have in your fixture. Our tenant was also very pleased with the work. This was a top notch operation that you do not see a whole lot of in South Florida. I would highly recommend them for use in the future.

THEY ARRIVED ON TIME, WORKED 12 HOURS AND DID MOST THE WORK. CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY TO CLEAN UP AND THE JOB WAS DONE. WOULD USE THEM AGAIN, WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL.

Great company to work with; only some minor delays in follow up once the major work was done. They stayed in touch by email and telephone throughout the process. I appreciated the personalized service after the roof was completed and would highly recommend their services to anyone.

After some misunderstanding as to when someone would come out, I believe it was the president of the company who came out and checked the roof himself. I had a leak in the living room after a heavy rainstorm . He did not find any openings or cracks but just in case caulked all the places where water could have gotten in. He was extra careful and made sure any little opening was covered up. I was very happy and grateful for the time he took to make sure I would have no more problems - and I didn't.

Purchased the $200 deal for a roof tune up. I was told by Bentley Roofing through Angies List Messenger that I would be contacted and by one of their roofers. I got a call the next day and set up an appointment but he never showed up. I messaged Bentley Roofing and asked once again if I could be contacted and they said I would be by the end of the day, and I never received a phone call. I was frustrated and contacted them once again, and a different guy then before, Bryan, who was really nice and professional contacted me the same day. He came over and completed the task and went above what I expected. He explained everything to my wife who was there at the time, then called and explained it all to me as well.

what I liked most about Bentley roofing is, I had a small issue after the job was completed and they took care of the issue without any delay. They made me feel valued as a customer. I would recommend them to anyone, they are truly a good business.

I am very pleased. Michael Devaney met with us and explained the process. We agreed on a price. His company estimate was the lowest of three estimates. I am very pleased with our new roof. Bentley roofing has courteous workers and the job was finished in a reasonable amount of time. I would hire them again.

It went bad. They never did the work I paid them for.

Bentley came back and repaired original leak repair as well as a new leak at another location at the same house.

Guy arrived on time and was knowledgable about roofing. He walked me through what he would do and provided me with the confidence that the roof was in good condition after inspection. He said he need to repair a few tiles with some 'glue'. He seemed to be very quick though on the actual work and was gone before I knew it. Would recommend for those house holders who have recently purchased their home and want an opinion on its state. I liked the service as I know that if I have it looked at on yearly basis then I will extend the life of the roof and importantly protect from those awesome Florida rain storms!

Mike is a rare professional, reliable and responsible and, besides perform to repair my roof, he returned when I call months later to solve a leakage problem that had nothing to do with his work, but still pledged to troubleshoot a failed installation of my hurricane window, which was responsible for the leak in my house. I would not ever doubt to hires him again.
