Excellect. We had an issue with one room being hotter than the others. The service was covered under the annual ccontractso there was no additional fee charged. The service man spent an hour with us checking the temps coming out of the vents and also the temp at ceiling level. Since our return air filter is an odd size, we ordered filters through them .The only negative was that the size ordered was the correct size , but the filters that came from a third party were not the correct size. We had to wait three days to have someone come by to pick up the filters sent and order more. The second set came about nine days later and was the correct size

I bought an air conditioner from this company in the past, about a year or two ago. It is broken. I know the warranty has expired, but when I tried to use the warranty in the past, it was going to take them so long to get out here that I paid another company to do it. Today, I was willing to pay them to do it if they could get someone here for the same day service. The receptionist asked me if they had been here before, and I said yes. She was unable to fine my record in the system. I told her, I am sorry she cant find it, but I just want my a/c fixed, can she please just schedule to have someone come out as if I am a new a/c repair customer? She kept asking me questions about when she was here before, which is irrelevant. I am not trying to use a warranty, I just want to schedule a repair. She was very rude to me, and then hung up on me, deliberately. This company does not seem to value customers seeking repair, just purchase...and apparently they don't keep good records of their service calls, and if they cant find the record that they have been there before, they don't want to come back.

The guys I ended up using, did all of below for 3700. -replaced the 4T AC both condenser and air handler -fixed the leak on other 4T outdoor unit, cleaned up the air handler inside - cleaned up all ducts and vent. -included 5year labor warranty on the contract -this includes normal 10 year warranty for the ac installed. So definitely shop around if you are getting quotes from this company.
Description of Work: Came in to give me an assessment. Charged 30$ more compared to othe compay which I ended up using. The quote for replacing one ac alone was close to 4500.

We used this company before and didn't have any issues so we tried again when our air conditioner was leaking. I looked at their website and saw that they have free estimates. When I called, the woman that answered the phone was irritated that I asked about the free estimate. She said they don't offer free estimates and they charge $95 for a technician to diagnose the issue. I told her their website says they give free estimates and she said "I don't know what you're reading but that's not our website." I asked to speak to a manager and the woman told me the manager left at 4:30PM. I informed her that it was 4:27 PM so perhaps he's still there. He was. The manager also indicated that he didn't know what I was reading but that their website does not say they offer free estimates for repairs. He said it's only for new sales. The website clearly states that the technicians come out to give a "better understanding of the issue". If it's a new unit, it shouldn't have any issues. He didn't have any answer for the conflict of information being given. Here is the direct wording from their website…"During the initial consultation, we will offer residential A/C free estimates in South Florida so that you have a better understanding of the issue and prospective costs before proceeding. On the first service call, our professional expert will properly diagnose your unit’s issue and develop a workable and budget-conscious solution for your approval. It will include a detailed analysis of suggested repairs or replacement costs. Since we value your time, we keep our trucks stocked with parts and provide onsite South Florida residential A/C Rheem services or repairs to 90% of our customers." This company is overpriced and unprofessional. DO NOT HIRE THEM. Check out other reviews for this company… this is not an isolated incident.

Our first experience with ATC actually wasn't too bad - the technician, Jack, came out for an estimate for service on an A/C unit that was not cooling. He was thorough and explained what he thought were the causes. He ultimately recommended a full replacement, which was quite a shock, but we took his recommendation because of the age of the unit and the condition in which it was in. On the date of replacement, two technicians arrived on time and got the job done. All was well at that point - the unit was cooling the house and we were happy. They even gave us a discount for paying all in cash. But then once the house cooled down, the unit never actually shut off - it just kept running and running. Two days later, the unit shut down completely. A technician came out and found a "unit disconnect fuse was overheating" and changed it out. We asked why this occurred and we asked him to address the fact the unit would not stop running. He never answered why the fuse blew, and he said we'd have to call them out again to diagnose the continuous operation. Not at all pleased that we were blown off, we decided to let it go for a day and see what happened. The A/C continued to run and run and the next night, thinking it was the thermostat, I tried to diagnose myself and took the thermostat off the wall, and, yes, I took a photograph of the wiring before full removal. It turns out the house wiring was too thick of a gauge for the thermostat to accept and I could not get it back on. This is late August in South Florida and without A/C the heat to sleep in at night was unbearable. I called ATC to have someone out and it just went to an answering service. The operator was not at all helpful and said that, despite the advertised "24 hour emergency service" there was no possibility of getting a tech out that night and they would have someone call me in the morning. With just two hours sleep from the night before, I received a call from a rep the next morning. Although she did schedule someone to come out, she refused to answer any of my questions. I tried to make sure there would be no service charge and the only repeated response I received was, "you'll have to ask your technician... you'll have to ask your technician." I asked her about the answering service from the night before and her first response was, "We don't have an answering service. When you call, you're calling the office." And then when I asked her to confirm that someone was there 24 hours to answer the phone, she back-tracked and said that, "after 9pm, when [they] leave the office, [they] switch the phones over to someone else to answer the calls." Maybe I'm confused, but doesn't that sound similar to an answering service?! The next tech that came out (I believe his name was Rob) seemed completely dis-interested in trying to help us when he arrived. When I told him the unit would not stop running, he asked how long we'd been living in Florida and argued that the "A/C's never stop in the summertime" (!!! DUH !!!) I was very frustrated he blew me off like that and then he asked to see the photograph of the wiring in order to put the thermostat back on. When he looked at the photograph, he informed me that the techs before him wired it incorrectly when they installed it!! I asked him if that would cause the unit to run continuously and he couldn't answer. At the end, he promised he would stop by the next day to bring a thermostat more suitable for our thick gauge wiring in the house.... He never called, and he never showed. Because their labor is warrantied, I may need them out again this year so I must be careful not to tick them off, but I WOULD NOT recommend ATC despite the size of their company and their numerous TV and billboard advertisements. In fact, I argue that their advertising is their most deceptive practice: their company name AND promise of "24 hour emergency service" is false and misleading!! They do not offer 24 hour service... only that they can schedule someone within 24 hours.

Called Air Around the Clock on Tuesday morning as my A/C shut off and was leaking through to downstairs ceiling. They promptly sent a tech out to analyze the issue. Tech called me from house and advised the drip pan was full of slime and needed an acid wash. Made sense, price to rectify our issue was $425. What do I know about price, I told him to go ahead and proceed. Tech could not fix on spot, so I waited on the phone for him to confirm with his company that they could get the unit fixed the next day before 2pm. Tech actually wrote down on the invoice and signed it, stating "in for tomorrow, must be done before 2:00." Received a call from the company this morning, advising they had to cancel my appointment, as they had other customers with air conditioning units not working. I mentioned, my unit isn't working as well, and had been without air as well, so I should fall into the same category of customers. But didn't matter, they couldn't come out again, tried to reschedule for next day. I had to scramble and find another company to come out - I found on Angies list another provider - Engineer Air- advised the diagnosis of our problem, and they were out to fix early afternoon. Their cost to perform an acid wash with Engineer Air, $115. I also decided to sign up for their maintenance contract so they deducted the price I paid and credited the annual maintenance contract fee. I also signed up for a service contract for another home of mine. So long story short, based on price, I was able to get two service contracts and fix my A/C for roughly the same price as Air Around to simply acid wash my drip pan. Price aside, based on professionalism, broken appointment and care to my issue, I can't give this company anything other than an F.

Bottom Line: Their techs are likely paid on commission and will talk your ear off with hard-sell tactics to upsell you a new system if the one you have has any age on it at all--even if its fairly new. Paying their "diagnostic" fee is basically paying them to send a sales guy to your home and try sell you a new system. If you show any disinterest, they quickly pack up and move on, rather then taking any real interest in helping to resolve your existing AC maintenance issue. Background: I knew exactly what work I wanted done and I had made phone calls to a number of local area AC repair companies with a very specific request: I wanted to *replace the compressors* in both of my 2 outdoor condenser units, but NOT replace the condenser units themselves. Both compressors and condenser unites were manufactured in '97 and installed during house construction. One compressor had recently burnt out and was grounded according to a previous service tech which I believed to be accurate. A week later the second unit's compressor finally stopped as well, which I believe was caused by a nasty FPL stuttering brown-out that occurred the the previous evening. So I suspected that compressor might have been burnt as well, as it was already pulling high amps as reported by a previous tech and was on its last leg. But at this time, I did NOT want to get a complete replacement of both outdoor condenser units along with matching indoor air handler units--to the tune of 8-10K. Rather, I only wanted to change out the compressors for now and keep the system running for at least a few more years, prior to investing deeply in a full system changeout with permits, inspections, and all that jazz. After all, my system was otherwise running fine, not leaking, and the air handlers were working fine, etc. Scheduling an Appointment (just to get a bid): So I spoke to one of ATC's customer service reps. I told her exactly what I needed them to do: 2 compressor change outs. I also told her I was calling many companies for bids, and that I specifically DID NOT want them to send out a tech only to have him waste my time by giving me a "hard sell" to upgrade my entire AC system due to its age. I'm sensitive to that because I've had AC tech's trying to up-sell me an entire new system each year for the past 10 years. Yet I've been happily maintaining it, year after year, only fixing or chaining components as needed. It has worked well for me and has saved me a lot of money. (In my opinion, a large number of these wholesale system changeouts are being done when they are not really needed. But many subpar AC repair companies push hard to replace everything because they make so much profit from it. Customers being told that a new AC system "will only last 5-8 years" are being lied to. And it happens A LOT. AC system should last much longer than their stated warrantee period if maintained. If a brand new system cannot last 20 years, then its a piece of junk and its installer suspect). So i asked the ATC rep how long it would take them to get the compressors and she said its usually "next day", which was nice to hear because most places were quoting a week or more to order the parts. I then asked if I could get a quote for the work. But she would only set up an appointment for a tech to come out and would not pass my request for a bid to her management. This was my first red flag--I only needed a bid for work that I knew I already wanted, and I didn't need a tech to come out and look over my entire system trying to find reasons to jack up the price. She then said they were running a $19.99 "special" that day--a second red flag. So rather than their standard $95 diagnostic fee, she could have the tech to come out to "assess the work" and put an estimate together--which I didn't want. I just wanted a bid for the work I was requesting. But I begrudgingly agreed because she said they would need to get the part numbers and other details. It didn't seem to matter when I told her I already had all that precise info along with pictures of the compressor and condenser spec labels because i had already opened them up and did the research. The appointment was a big mistake. My other big mistake was not doing my homework on these guys first. It was only after I set up an appointment and waited for the tech's arrival that I started reading so many negative reviews about Air Around The Clock online. And these bad reviews weren't even on Angie's List, as I hadn't yet signed up yet. Now I was getting concerned that I was not going to get what I was expecting. And sure enough, that is exactly what happened. The Tech Visit: When the tech came out, I demonstrated to him that it was tripping the outside circuit breaker. Right away, the first thing he said without even looking at the unit was that "it was old and needed to be replaced". Gee, thanks. I told him no, and that the reason I called them was to replace the compressors! Period. Apparently the customer service rep never gave him "the memo"--even after all the time I spent on the phone with her explaining my specific needs. Then he said, "well, I can check to see if its just a loose connector wire and try to get the compressor to function". That should have been the FIRST thing he tried, as he could see electrical arc'ing when I flipped the circuit breaker for him. So after a bit of tinkering around with my unit, he then informs me he was unable to get the unit working after apparently attempting to reattach the disconnected wire. And, not surprisingly, he already has a written estimate for a new system ready to go for me. Brilliant. What part of "No" did he not understand. I just paid him to sit in his air conditioned truck and write up an estimate for something I clearly explained I did NOT want. I guess this is what happens when techs work on commission. He then proceeds to waste 20 more minutes of my time with his "hard sell" for the new system. No. No. No and No. Thank you. Did I really take a day off work for this? I was polite, but angry and ended the useless conversation even after he kept persisting at it. Postscript: I later took off the top of the condenser unit and was amazed to see that a primary compressor wire with an exposed end was just laying on and touching the bottom metal base of the AC unit's casing. This is the reason the unit was arc'ing and and tripping the switch. Did he even bother to open the unit and look? Or did he only check the outside contactors without opening the unit up? And if he did see it, then why, for God's sake, did he not put a simple twist-on connector cap over it or a bit of electrical tape to prevent the exposed wire from touching the metal AC housing? This was a potential nice shock awaiting the next repair guy. Please don't make the same mistake I made with these guys. They are bad news. I didn't do my homework on them first and I should have known. There is no way I would trust them with a complete system changeout. I'm not even sure I would trust them to do any routine maintenance or even duct cleaning, knowing that there is a potential for

I flew back to my home on Friday, July 11 to spend some time in hot south florida. When I arrived to the house I automatically brought the a/c units from 80 degrees down to a more liveable 75 degrees. I went out to the grocery store. When I returned I noticed that one of the evaporation pans was full of water and the unit was dripping a lot. I figured it may have frozen up while I was gone. I turned the a/c off and let the fan run in the balmy 82 degree room temperature. After 5 hours I started the unit up again and it was only cooling minimally. I called the Air Around The Clock answering service at 3am on Saturday, July 12. The answering service answered and told me that I should expect a confirmation call around 8am and that they would called with an estimated time of arrival for the serviceperson. I did receive that call at 8:05am and the scheduling agent told me that I should except a service person at my house between 11am and 1pm. The serviceman arrived at my house at 12'oclock noon and the service call would be $95. I told him what had happened and what I had tried to make the system work. He quickly surmised that somehow the refrigerant had leaked out. He said that there was an additional charge of $200 to ad refrigerant> I told him to go ahead and ad refrigerant. He was here and finished and the replenished a/c unit was pumping out very cold air withing 5 minutes. The repairman then used a meter to check around the condenser inside to see if there were any leaks of coolant and none were detected. He then went outside to the compressor and checked for leaks of coolant and none were detected. I have to say that the way the appointment and service call was handled were point perfect. I couldn't imagine a smoother transaction. I don't know if this is how heavily used a/c units work in Florida, but mine seem to leak out all of the coolant every third year. I had these units installed by Air Around the Clock years ago and I use them for all of my maintenance. I am not sure if I am getting a good price or not, but I feel I get good service for the money. The name of my repairman was Ron. He

Our A/C compressor stopped working. The engineer arrived promptly and told me it was a capacitor. He offered me a deal to replace the fan motor at the same time, although he admitted that there was nothing wrong with it. I did not accept. Why replace a perfectly working motor! 3 months later, the compressor stopped working again. I paid extra for them to come out on the Friday, instead of the following Tuesday. He looked up the company's notes and mentioned that they had previously offered me a deal on replacing the motor and told me the fan motor had now failed and dumbly, I agreed to him replacing it. He also mentioned that he had replaced the capacitor again!!! . Afterwards, I was suspicious that it was just the low cost capacitor that had failed again and he followed the company's notes to see if they could hit me for a motor. The date of manufacture of the compressor was 1/2007 and he told me our Reem unit was old and probably wouldn't last much longer. On reflection, I believe I was caught and these guys are out to sell, sell, sell.
Description of Work: Repaired compressor.

My a/c stopped blowing cold air and I called Air Around the Clock. While on the phone they ask me how old my unit . Off the top of my head, I replied 8 yrs old. Technician showed up on time and performed his diagnosis. The motor, X-13 was diagnosed as the culprit and it will cost $1,345. The technician told me that it was no longer under warranty, that I had missed it by a year. He also recommended that I change the 4-ton unit for $4,300.00. The next day, I located the company (Air Cooling) that had initially installed the unit. I called Joel Bueno and he sent his technicians (sons). Same diagnosis with the X-13 motor needed to be replaced. The good news was that the unit was still under warranty. It turned out, the unit was installed on September 2010. Two days later, we had a/c for $245.00.
