First off, the name of the business is somewhat misleading. We purchased our air conditioning unit, as described above, a Rheem, in July 2009. We also have paid these guys for a maintenance agreement. If you break down on a weekend or a holiday, they charge a premium. And of course, every time this lemon has broken down, it's on a weekend, or just before a holiday. So even with a maintenance agreement, their service is only "Around The Clock" if you don't mind paying a premium above and beyond. Any service will do that. So this last time, the system stopped working on a Sunday morning. I called that day during the afternoon, so that they'd put me on the schedule first thing Monday morning. No go. But they did come out during the afternoon on Monday. This was, BTW, in the middle of a heat wave. Temperature exceeded 90 degrees in here. Guy came out, shone a flashlight behind the air handler and said it was frozen up. It would need several hours to thaw. But he'd be out the next day. Fabulous. One more night in suffocating heat. The person answering the phone couldn't have told me to shut it down in preparation?? The next day, the tech said the coil was shot. I was incredulous. This is the 3rd coil this lemon of a system has eaten. Almost one a year. He did install freon to get me through the next 2 days it would take to order the new coil. This time, I didn't bother to complain to the supervisor, who the last two times essentially blew me off. He was not accommodating in the least, treated me like I was something on the bottom of his shoe. He was polite, but very cold and unsympathetic.Told me both times there was nothing he could do. "It happens," was his mantra. "Coils can be defective." Really?? That's your explanation? 3 times in 4 years?? They are warranted for 1 year, but not the labor. You're on your own for that. He said I'd have to take up any further complaints with Rheem. End of discussion. He would not stand by his product, leaving the customer to have to slug it out with the manufacturer. Seems if the coils are defective repeatedly, and are made by Rheem, common sense would dictate that they should stop handling Rheem products, right? No way. 4 years later, they're still selling and installing Rheem's systems and parts. He was quick to tell me how lucky I was that AATC was comping the actual coil. All I owed was a mere $295 for labor. Each time. I'm supposed to be grateful for the cost and inconvenience. Not the way to gain customers. And not the way to keep them, either. Update: Just got a response to a complaint I lodged with the BBB regarding this matter. Eric Pereira, the owner, "responded" with the same tired lines that I've always received in response, that I "need to understand" that they did not manufacture the system, so they carry no responsibility for its defects. How nice. He gets to just wash his hands, because he didn't manufacture the merchandise. I pointed out that in this country, the instances are quite rare where the point of sale is also the point of manufacture. Yet, almost every business you can name stands behind its product and will replace a seriously flawed item. Not at this place. They collected the money (plus hefty fees when you do have a breakdown, plus yearly monies for a maintenance fee) and that's the end of their accountability. He enumerated all the various calls they made "for free," going so far as to name an unbelievably petty one when our system was whistling (because their tech had cleaned the system and failed to put things back properly) but neglected to mention we have paid them every year for a maintenance agreement, and that was covered under the agreement (plus, the reason that visit happened was their fault.) That little fact was conveniently omitted in his non-response. He also reiterated the position that they comped the parts each time (big deal. They sent them back to the manufacturer for reimbursement, so there's no "comping" involved) and I should be very grateful to have only been charged $295 for labor. Interesting and significant footnote to that last $295 charge... When I spoke to Rheem about this several weeks ago, they said that AATC billed them and had received payment of the $295 for the labor charge. That money, according to Glenn Wilson at Rheem should have been forwarded on to me, since I had already paid them for the labor. To date, no one from AATC has either contacted me about those funds or returned it to me. So they got paid twice for the labor. So for Mr. Pereira to scold me about how ungrateful I am for how much they've done for me is more than disingenuous. Bottom line, they're OK for routine service, but if they sell you an expensive system and it then has major breakdowns several times, too bad. You don't know it, but in buying there, you've assumed a very high-stakes gamble. This is a cautionary tale. Be advised that in the purview of AATC; they bear no responsibility for the systems they sell and install (they did, after all, not manufacture it,) and will have no problem telling you and the BBB quite bloodlessly that you're on your own. Caveat emptor.
Description of Work: Installed a new coil, AGAIN. Third time in 4 years. They installed the complete system, which they sold to us as a "top of the line" unit that was "super dependable" in 2009. Each time, it's $300. Plus, the system blew a thermostat and a motor, for $400. A $7500 brand spankin' new system that has cost us an additional $1000 over the last 4 years. Our 8 year old one was much more dependable than this piece of junk. After battling with Rheem the last time, as AATC obliged me to do, which took several phone calls, Rheem covered the $295 for that one coil. But we've had to bear the cost of the other two. However, AATC will do nothing for you, even though they are the ones who installed the defective system. That's MY problem, according to them. Too bad. No interest in finding out exactly WHY it keeps eating coils. Just collect $295 each time it does. Yeah, they're great, until you have a legitimate, documented problem with their merchandise. Then, heaven help you, because they sure won't.

Air Around the Clock A/C and Appliance Service were very reliable. I originally bought my air conditioning from them last summer. Their price was reasonable. I got several estimates. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They were very neat, in the way that they did it. I was very satisfied with their work. In fact, they had to re-do what the last air conditioner people had done, in terms of the closet that it was kept in was a disaster before. The walls cut into and everything. Air Around the clock fixed up everything.

They showed up about 10 minutes late, ok not a big deal. They looked at the air handler and immediately started suggesting replacing the unit as it was 10 years old. I told them that I just purchased house and that was not on the top of the list of things to get done and I just wanted to repair AC. They went and looked at the compressor and said the fan was blown and it would cost over $700 to fix it. I told them I didnt want them to fix it. They took all their tools and left. It wasnt until later I went out and noticed that they left the compressor all open and just walked away without any resolution except to replace system. I called their supervisor and also got no resolution to what these guys had done. I am still unhappy with their customer service!!!
Description of Work: I called Air Around the Clock as my Air Conitioner was blowing hot air and being in the dead of summer and having my house remodeled, it was too much and I needed someone out the same day.

Very pleased with estimate. Got a few estimates from local companies and they by far were the best priced. They came on a sat. On time and worked through with an hour lunch in between. Took them like 10 hours to remove old unit and install new one. Finally we got a new a/c that works great to replace our 17 yr old unit. Also the techs removed all the old materials and cleaned up mess well when they were done. I highly recommend them for a/c installation.

The installation crew was awesome. I felt they were reasonably priced. They also finance everything so there was no money out of pocket for me. I purchased a service contract with the company. The AC unit did stop working on a Sunday, however, within two hours a serviceman from this company arrived and fixed the issue. I was very impressed. I recommend this company to others.

Overall, my disappointment aside from the damage found, they were very professional, explained each damaged item, called about the warranty and seemed to try to do the best possible job for me and my property. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: As a new home owner I was told by the inspector & previous owner that the AC just needed freon. So, I called Air Around the Clock and they made an appt to come out (12-22-12). Unfortunately, they found that the unit had a leak so instead of the original about $200-300 estimate the charge was $850. But, that was not their fault and a fairly new system that ran out of freon was suspicious to begin with. Then, when they went outside to complete the service they found that there was additional damage that had been done from the previous owners running the system. They called and found it was under warranty so the additional cost was only $250. It took a very long time for the additional piece to come in (01-12-13) but that was around the holidays. The total cost ended up $1,100.

I requested a quote for two new AC units in my house from three companies. ATC's rep was the first to review my current equipment and make recommendations. He was very courteous and professional, and provided a quote for two Rheem units. The second (a large, well-known company) rep to quote was arrogant, pushy, and took some jabs at ATC and Rheem units (this company sold other brands). He also recommended a lot of additional work on the ducts and mounting slabs. I took the time to research his claims and also called back ATC to check their opinion regarding the equipment, ducting, and slabs. They were very polite and forthcoming, and assured me that additional construction would only be quoted if absolutely necessary (and they didn't feel that was the case). The third company's rep was very polite and professional but recommended a lower SEER Rheem unit than ATC due to the space I had for the air handlers. Again, I researched his claim afterwards and disagreed with it based on the published Rheem dimensional specs. He also recommended a new slab, due to new "regulations". I researched this claim and didn't find any information to support it. So in the end, ATC had the lowest price and had quoted me the most bang for the buck. Also, at my request, they changed the controller units on the quote to programmable models, without any added cost. I felt comfortable giving the job to the company that I felt had dealt with me honestly and professionally at every juncture of the process. The techs that arrived during installation were very professional and speedy. They confirmed that no additional construction was needed, and agreed that trying to redo the ducts was more risky than it was worth. They finished the job in a few hours, and the units worked perfectly. A couple of months later, I was having trouble with one unit not shutting down and a tech came out to replace a circuit board. Again, he was prompt, professional, and did the job at no charge.

Air conditioning unit leaking. Unit is in ceiling of a condo. I called them it took 3 days for them to fit me in. The tech used a ladder and inspected unit with a flashlight. He used compressed air to push water to empty the drain pan down the drain pipe. They said the problem was fixed. There were always 2 people. One directed while the other did the work. After 2 or three days the unit was leaking all over floor again. I had tech's out 3 different times. They could not seem to get the problem fixed. I only had to pay the first time they came out. The fee is usually one hundred dollars but I had a contract that gave me 20 % off the visit. I sorry but putting a 5 gallon paint pail under the drip that had to be emptied daily was not a solution so it wasn't worth the $80 I spent. I did not have them come out over on the weekend or on the 4th of July. When Finally I asked around the condo for companies that have been used here and then I checked them against angies list and went with another company.

AC unit install went fairly well. Could have been installed with better access to the filter, but I'm not going to get hung up about that. I'd used ATC for years before and had never really had a problem - when I was paying them to come out for the call. They were supposed to come out yesterday to do an annual cleaning and tune-up on the unit that I had installed in 2010. I received a call at 7:50 AM saying they were cancelling the appointment. My wife made that appointment weeks ago as she knew she would be home this week. To make this clear, this appointment was made weeks in advance so neither she nor I would have to miss work. Further, the general maintenance calls are only scheduled on certain days/at certain times so getting an appointment can take weeks. The voicemail I received said "we have to cancel your appointment because we're overbooked with people that have no AC at all." Now, I've been in that position and it sucks, but I had a standing appointment weeks in advance. Further, ATC already has my money, so they dumped me for a call that would make them money (a revenue call). I understand that to a certain extent, but when I complained, the best they could do was schedule me for a Saturday 2 weeks away. Oh - and they couldn't give me a time. They said they'd call me first thing Saturday morning to give me a 2-3 hour window but they'd request the morning. So, now instead of my scheduled appointment, I get to receive a phone call at 730 AM on the only day I get tp sleep in. Then, with any luck I'll be early on the list so I can get on with my day. I guess I won't bother making plans for that Saturday. Maybe I should just schedule for a day where I'll be home anyway... Oh wait - I ALREADY DID. Oh - I almost forgot why I decided to write this review! I asked to speak to a supervisor (if for nothing else, to make my complaint to someone further up the chain) and was told that s/he was busy and would call me back shortly and it would be within the hour. That was yesterday, 26 hours ago. Still no call. Sure, they probably don't want to hear me complain, but the fact that I have something to complain about at all is their own fault. Overall, their service has been great in the past and their techs seem to be pretty knowledgable and personable. Will I use them again? Maybe, but there's no "Maybe" selection on Angie's List!

Just an update to my previous review with a few notes (can't edit at this point): I just called to confirm my appointment (it's there), supervisor is "still busy" which makes me think I'm never getting that call. Folks that answer the phones there always make it sound like you're bothering them. Not friendly, not welcoming. Maybe they're upset because customers are upset, but every time I call, it seems like I'm bothering them. I'll keep them around until the end of my service plan but I'm changing "Would you use this company again" to a "NO."

Called on Friday evening and reached a real person who promised a call in the morning. Saturday morning got a call with a two hour time frame. 90 minutes later the technician, Jeff was at the door. Professional and polite he diagnosed the problem of the capacitor withing minutes and had the new part on the truck and my A/C was working again! Must admit in these days and times to find a company with a technician that the four things you want from a service call; Professional, Knowledgeable, Polite and have the parts with him gives this company my full recommendation! Very positive experience and the cool air is really great during these humid days!

ATC has been running lots of TV ads in South Florida, and I want to let members know about my experience with them. Perhaps they've improved, but the last time I contacted them about an A/C problem, they were nasty on the phone, and when the technician arrived, he asked me what I do for a living, charged me $50 for a $2 fuse, and then charged me another $50 for the call. I admit, perhaps I should have checked the fuse, but unless their service has improved remarkably, I would strongly advise you to find another service organization.
