About us

A Good Orderly Direction is a company specializing in helping seniors who have been in their homes for 30, 40 or even 50 years to either downsize to a smaller location or move to an assisted living community. A lifetime of possessions has accumulated and we work with you to determine what to keep, pass (donate, ship to family members or sell) or toss (dispose). We don't make those decisions, you do. In addition, we have been through a rigorous course of training and testing to develop skills necessary to assist clients with Hearing Loss, Aphasia, Dementia, Alzheimer's as well as Chronic Disorganization and Hoarding. A Good Orderly Direction is a member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers, the National Association of Personal Organizers, The South Florida Chapter of Professional Organizers and the National Care Planning Council.

Description of Work: This was for an estate sale as we were downsizing from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom condo. They arranged for everything that wasn't sold to be hauled away by a reputable charity before the buyer's walk through. We netted $2,600 income in the deal.

My wife and I were downsizing from a 4 bedroom 2 bath house with a 2 car garage to a fully furnished 2 bedroom 2 bath condo. We therefore had an etire house of belongings to get rid of. The house sold in 4 days of listing and we had only 3 weeks to get everything out before closing. We had a formal living room, a family room, dining room, 2 bedrooms, office and patio all full of furniture. Also a garage full of yard equipment and tools, kitchen table and chairs, dishes, cookware, vases, pictures, treadmill, clothes, etc., etc., etc. We contracted with A GOOD ORDERLY DIRECTION to handle the sale. The deal was 30% to them and 70% to us less some expenses for advertising and final cleanup. Lisa and Robin came on Saturday morning and tagged everything with prices. The sale was on Saturday and Sunday. At the end of the sale on Sunday, There was still a fair amount of stuff left. They had a reputable charity there first thing on Monday morning to remove everything that was left. Robin then cleaned the house to broom clean condition as required per the real estate contract. The buyer's walk through was onTuesday morning with nothing left in the house except for a few pieces that they had purchased at the sale. The bottom line is, we netted over $2,500 from the sale, gave a fair amount of quality furnishings to a charity and didn't have to lift a finger. We would definately recommend A GOOD ORDERLY DIRECTION (soon to be renamed ESTATE ARCHAEOLOGISTS) if you're in need of this service.
