Privacy Electronics

Description of Work: Privacy Electronics installed a security system for our condo building. It included 7 cameras, a monitor and DVR. They installed it in our elevator room. At first it worked although we needed a tech to come back and show us how to use the system. The owner, Mike, reluctantly agreed to send someone out but was going to charge us for the visit. When we protested he finally did send someone so that we could better access the system. This year the elevator inspector told us that is was a Florida law that the system could not be placed in the elevator control room and we would have to move it. When we asked Mike why it had been allowed to be installed there, he said it was where we wanted it to go. Shouldn't his company know that you can't install it in the elevator room? Two weeks ago, we had our handyman and his crew move the system up to a second floor closet. Of course, the system is now out of warranty and needs a complete overhaul. The monitor is so filled with dust from being in the elevator room, we can't get it to work and the DVR appears to not be working as well. We contacted Mike and he came out this past Monday. When I asked him why his crew had installed it in the elevator room in the first place, he again said because that's where you wanted it. He accepts no responsibility for anything that has gone wrong. He said he would send a tech out to troubleshoot the job at $125 an hour plus parts. I told him I wanted the tech to troubleshoot the job and give us an estimate on the repair. His office called me later in the day and offered an appointment on Feb. 8th, 10 days later, I said I needed it to be sooner and she agreed to Friday, Feb. 3rd. Then she called and said it would be Monday. Today she called our management company and canceled that appointment too. I am looking for a new company to service our unit. I am never going to use these people again. They just take your money and then you are on your own. Suzanne Kennedy, Portside Condos

Description of Work: Sold me a DVR with NO Hard drive!! Wouldn't take it back. "all sales are final". A real jerk. Told me he would 'upgrade' me to a better unit. Hah! He contends that I had 'network problems' when he couldn't make the unit work (he is such an expert...) Will never guarantee his work. It always costs you more.

Description of Work: We purchased a 16-camera DVR and prepaid for owner to come and install and teach us how to use the equipment.
