The work in the bathroom looks great; just on the pricey side compared to other plumber inputs. We also got a backed-up line in the plumbing the night before and asked them to clear it. We thought that they would cut us a slight break to run the snake since they were already here, but they asked for full price of $200; which is already approximately $50 more than other local plumbing companies.
Description of Work: Add pipe and drain lines for 2 new vanity sinks in a bathroom remodel. Also, had a clog in the sewer line that needed clearing.

GET ESTIMATES FROM MULTIPLE VENDORS FOR ANY WORK TO BE DONE - especially when dealing with Barberi. Work needed: installation of vessel sinks, faucets and wall to sink connections. Before making an estimate appointment, I read the Barberi reviews on Angies List. They seemed okay. I am having the double-sink laminate bathroom vanity slab replaced with granite. The granite will have pre-measured sink and faucet holes drilled and slab installed. Original sinks were installed in the vanity counter top with the bowl below the counter. I had already purchased new sinks, faucets and plumbing parts (water lines, sink drains, drain pipes, etc). The Barberi technicians (Jim, Doug) looked at all the parts and indicated that only the water turnoff valves were needed (about a $10 total cost). The technician gave me a $695 written estimate. He said the job would take 4 hours and that if the drain pipes from wall to the sink had to be changed it would cost more. (Note: the pipes definitely would have to change when going from "under counter" sinks to above-counter vessel sinks). This additional work should have been included in the estimate since it was necessary work, rather than being left as an "open-ended" (and I expect expensive) cost. The Barberi technician indicated that it would take 4 hours to complete the job. The job would have no guarantee because I provided the parts. All of this was NOT ACCEPTABLE when compared to other estimates. Of course Barberi will not be selected to do the job. BUYER BEWARE ! 3 other licensed/insured/bonded plumbers gave estimates of $250-320 and 2 hours to complete the work. I am a senior who feels that I was being exploited by Barberi personnel.
Description of Work: Work needed: installation of vessel sinks, faucets and wall to sink connections. Barberi technicians provided est ($695 + cost to change/connect drain pipe to sink, 4 hours work). This cost was 2+ times more than 3 other licensed/insured/bonded plumbers who provided est that ranged $250-$320 and indicated it would take about 2 hours.

They snaked the pipes but said they didn't know what was wrong. When I called back that it was still acting up, they did offer to come back free of a service charge but I didn't see any reason for them to since they didn't know what the problem was. I have since gotten it taken care of by someone who came and kept working on it til he figured it out.

Ms. [member name removed], I am sorry you are unhappy with our service. When unstopping a sewer line we are not always able to determine the cause of the stoppage. The plumbers do attempt to retrieve what ever is obstructing the pipe but sometimes it's not possible. We offered to warranty our service and send a truck out at no additional charge but you chose not to accept. I'm confident if given the chance we would have solved your plumbing issue. Again, I'm sorry you were displeased with us and I hope you will give us a chance to make it up to you in the future.

We bought a 1940's small bungalow in Navy Point for our retirement home. Josh from Barberi Plumbing was one of three plumbing companies that gave us quotes for our original project to plumb water (hot/cold) and drain system to a new area for our washing machine (it was originally located in the garage). Josh was on time, professional and down to earth. He explained what he would do, gave us a very fair quote on the work and worked with us on a start date that worked for him and us. He impressed us immediately. He was out to start the work within 2 days. He arrived promptly at 8 a.m. as promised. Josh and a helper did the work and did their best to have us without water for as short a time as possible. They did a great job, cleaning up well after. We have since had them out for follow up projects to repair a tub drain and install an exterior natural gas tankless water heater (Rinnai). Again, wonderful job at a very fair price. We will use them again for any plumbing needs and highly recommend Josh and Barberi.

I've used Barberi 3 times now for various projects (plumbing and natural gas-related). They are my go-to company for these types of repairs because they do an excellent job, are very professional and on-time, their price is affordable and they have provided excellent advice. I find them to be a very reliable and trustworthy company. Will definitely continue to use them.
Description of Work: Fixed sink drainage problems in 2 bathrooms. Found source of problems, cleared drains, fixed the old pop up stoppers, checked/resolved problems we had experienced. Answered all my questions about other plumbing issues and repairs I'm planning for the future and gave details to assist me in planning.

Everything went great! We called they scheduled us the same day. We were notified when they were on our way to our home. Our issues was quickly diagnosed. The plumbers were very professional and knowledgable . The price they quoted us was very fair and reasonable. Problem was fixed in an hour. They offered us advice on how ti fix some smaller problems we could do ourselves. This was the best experience I have had with any home repair specialist. Will definitely call on this company again.

A service tech showed up within about an hour of my call. He was here for about an hour. He replaced several loose and leaking seals under my kitchen sink. He checked out my garbage disposal as it was becoming noisy and I was prepared to have him replace it. He found my disposal to be in good shape, saving me the cost of replacing it. He pulled out my 30-year-old dishwasher to check for any possible leaks and found it to also be in good shape. He was friendly, prompt and professional. I will definitely keep Barberi's number handy!

My shower and toilet seemed to be connected with neither draining well, bubbling water and noisy. I've never had a septic tank before so I was befuddled. Lonnie and Nick came out, checked the tank, ran a snake through the vent and lines and found the problem. Then they were considerate enough to come in and talk with me about how septic tanks work and how best to take care of my system. I was very impressed that they took that time to help me and appreciate it so much. I just moved into this house and had surgery last week so I was very worried about what to expect. It's so nice to know who to call if something else comes up, a company I can trust. Thank you so much, Lonnie and Nick!

Initially I thought there was a leak inside the air handler. I kept smelling something like mildew. I'd had another company out several weeks earlier who charged outrageous prices just to add Freon to the system. Still the smell continued. I called Barberi Heating and Air after getting a referral from Barberi Plumbing. The technician came to my home within just a few hours, checked out the system and didn't find anything wrong. He asked me if the doors had been opened and closed a lot recently to which I answered yes. He told me the system was just trying to keep up and to try to keep the doors closed. I did and the smell soon dissipated. I will definitely use them again.

We drain sewage from our home into a large, partially underground, effluent container. Within the container, a lift pump raises the effluent to a pipe that, in turn, flows into the county sewer system. We discovered that the pump circuit breaker was tripped and that the pump was no longer working. About two years ago, Barberi had installed a new lift pump for $1600. So we called them. Barberi determined that, somehow, a plastic shopping bag had gotten into the pump and clogged it. They drained the effluent container and removed the shopping bag. Barberi also found that two float switches required replacement but that they did not have replacements with them. Barberi said that the would return the next day. Barberi put the system back together again in a jury-rigged way. The connection between the pump and the outflow pipe is supposed to be PVC. Barberi used a rubber coupling with two clamps, which is wrong. When we tested the pump, the rubber connection blew apart. Barberi put it back together again and, when tested, it blew apart again. Barberi's solution was to wedge an old coffee can between the container wall and the pump outlet pipe so that it would not separate. You can tell that the whole setup is jury-rigged because the pressure from the pump makes it look like the rubber coupling is going to blow apart. So now I have a hole in the ground with no automatic pump and a connection that is temporary at best. I paid them $278 for that. When I called this morning they said they would come out and replace the float switches for us but it would be $250 more. They should have come out and fixed the jury-rigged setup, but they won't without more money. As a result I have called another plumber and am terminating our relationship with Barberi.

Response from Louis P. Barberi Plumbing, Inc.
February 12, 2014 [member name removed] hired us to service his lift station saying the pump had quit working. On February 12, 2014 my plumber arrive at 12:05 pm and departed 2:10 pm for a total of two hours at this job. We removed the grinder pump, cleaned out large amount of grease and other debris then ran our sewer machine to unstop the main sewer at the cost of $278.00. My plumber discovered large amounts (one bag full) of grease, personal wipes and other miscellaneous items inside the lift station. These items should never be put into a lift station because they will prevent the pump from working. [member name removed] made mention of a “shopping bag” found inside the lift station, but what my plumber originally thought was a shopping bag turned out to be personal wipes upon closer inspection of contents. [member name removed] had been informed of the problems associated with putting grease and other items down the drain during our previous service call on February 7, 2013 where we removed 5 gallons of grease, etc…from his lift station. After manually bailing out the sewage and thoroughly cleaning the pump (in the rain) it was determined that the float switch was not working and needed to be replaced. Also, the 1 1/2 “ union ball valve that connects the pump to the discharge line was broken at the union – which prevented a proper re-install of the pump. My plumber quoted to [member name removed] a separate price of $218.10 to replace the float switch and valve. [member name removed] accepted our quote and it was agreed to complete that work the next morning due to the current weather conditions. With the valve being broken it was not possible to re-install the pump and [member name removed] would not have been able to use his plumbing over night. My plumber discussed this situation with [member name removed] and it was agreed (by all parties involved) that we would try to rig something so he could use his plumbing until we returned the next morning. It is not our practice to “rig” plumbing but agreed to do it being that we were coming back out early the next morning and it could allow [member name removed] to use his plumbing rather than having to go stay in a hotel for the night. My plumber collected $278.00 for the service provided that day. The next morning (February 13, 2014) I phoned [member name removed] to tell him the plumber was ready to come back out and he asked me if we could accept a post dated check for today’s service. I informed him that was illegal and I can not accept a post dated check. [member name removed] stated he would call me back and that was the last time we had any communication with [member name removed] – he never called back. [member name removed] never voiced any dissatisfaction, with our service or our prices, to my plumber or to me, so receiving this notice of his complaint and dissatisfaction was a complete shock! [member name removed] states he wants a full refund and the following: “So now I have a hole in the ground with no automatic pump and a connection that is temporary at best. I paid them $278 for that.” First of all, we did not leave a hole in the ground, the lid was placed back on the lift station. Second, the $278.00 paid was for the service we provided (2-12-2014) of cleaning out his lift station (see above). [member name removed] signed our invoice stating he acknowledged the satisfactory completion of that work; it seems he only wants a refund because I refused to accept an illegal post dated check for installation of the float switch and valve we were scheduled to do the next day (2-13-2014) [member name removed] never voiced or indicated any dissatisfaction to me or my plumber whatsoever; we were completely unaware of any dissatisfaction until we received this complaint. Purchased a and quot;touchand quot; kitchen faucet from Lowe's. After reading installation instructions, realized I could not do the install due to my physical handicap. Consulted Angie's List for a recommended plumber and chose Barberi. They came out in a few hours, gave me an estimate of $170 and I told them to proceed. During the install the plumber determined that the solenoid fas faulty. Plumber told me to contact Delta for a replacement and when it came in to call the office to schedule him to come out and finish the job,at no additional charge, which I did. They charged me an additional $79 to come out and finish the job.

Response from Louis P. Barberi Plumbing, Inc.
Our 1st visit (May 17, 2013) to [member name removed] house was to install a kitchen faucet he purchased elsewhere. My plumber quoted him a price before any work began & [member name removed] accepted. The faucet was installed - complete. After the faucet was installed my plumber determined there was a defective part in the faucet that was leaking, he bypassed it so [member name removed] could use the faucet & told him to contact Delta to get the defective part replaced then call us when it arrived & we will repair his faucet. The plumbing "helper" mistakenly told [member name removed] we would repair his faucet for free. May 22, 2013[member name removed] phoned our office to schedule the repair of his faucet (the part arrived). At that time I informed him of the helper's mistake & our company policy - Since we did not furnish the new faucet, we can not repair/replace the defective part for free. If we "furnish & install" a new faucet we warranty (material & labor) the job for one year. I quoted him a discounted price to repair his faucet & he stated his displeasure with our policy by cussing at me & hanging up. [member name removed]phoned me again about 10 minutes later, I apologized for the misunderstanding caused by the helper & informed [member name removed] that is why I quoted a discounted price rather than the full price to repair his defective faucet. [member name removed] seemed accepting of that & chose to have us repair his faucet; the job was scheduled for the following day (May 23, 2013. [member name removed] states that we charged him for a return visit to "finish the job". The faucet was installed on the 1st visit so the job as quoted was complete May 17, 2013. [member name removed] was informed of the price (to repair the defective faucet he purchased elsewhere) one day prior to our return trip to his home & chose to hire us to make the repair. I am very sorry [member name removed] is unhappy & I tried to accommodate him by discounting the price but we can not be expected to warranty a product supplied by others. I believe I have been very fair with [member name removed]. Sincerely, Judith Lacey Vice President Louis P. Barberi Plumbing Inc.
