In 2011 I had to have my house replumbed from poly-b to PEX. After estimates and having seen BLAB TV and reviews I hired Kimmons Plumbing. They did a great job. Since then, have had leaky fixtures in bathtub repaired. Since it was just a few washers they didn't charge for parts. A car ran over my outside shutoff valve and caused it to start leaking above ground. Jeremy from Kimmons repaired it and put an easier lever type shut off handle in. A few years ago he also replaced my hot water heater. Recently, Aug. 2019 Jeremy and Bre helped troubleshoot and diagnose a serious problem with my sewer lines. While here doing that job I had him look at the plumbing a contractor did in my kitchen re-model in a 1973 house I recently bought. This contractor had high marks and rave reviews on multiple web sites. How I don't know. I trusted those reviews so I trusted the contractor. I should have been suspicious when he gave an estimate and when I agreed, just started the job with no formal contract. Also no permits were pulled therefore no inspections. He is not a licensed plumber. That was obvious by the tangled mess under my kitchen sink and a code violation Jeremy spotted immediately. I thought the guy would sub out the plumbing to a licensed plumber. If I knew then what I know now I would not have paid him. I am not naming the contractor because it would just be my word against his. However I learned a valuable and costly lesson. Jeremy and Bre were here on Aug. 15, 2019. I had every shutoff valve in the house replaced with new 1/4 turn valves. All faucets and fixtures in bathtubs replaced with all new stems, valves and handles etc. One toilet had been upgraded to a 1.6 gallon model. The other looked like a much older one but in good condition. I had it pulled, the tank rebuilt inside, and outside seals replaced and the wax seal replaced. These older homes are farther away from the sewer and an older toilet has more water to push the waste further down the line easier. Also, water lines from faucets and toilets replaced with steel braided lines. After doing all of this, Jeremy began the nightmare job under my kitchen sink left by incompetent contractor. When finished, a mish-mash of multiple water lines which were not installed properly, fittings not sweated to the copper lines etc. were gone and a single line coming in for hot and cold water, a single shut off valve for the cold water to the sink, as there already is a new shut off behind the fridge for the ice maker, and a separate shut off for the hot water to the dishwasher that was missing (the code violation). Also, Jeremy cut small sections of sheet rock to access water lines behind wall. When he saw that none of the new fittings that were coming from the copper water lines had been sweated on and then when connecting to the PEX water lines they weren't crimped on he was surprised that they hadn't failed and flooded the kitchen. Jeremy always takes time to answer my questions. For example, I wanted to know why the difference in the types of shut off valves under the bathroom sinks vs. the kitchen because I could get larger handles on the ones in the kitchen. He explained that since all the pipes in the bathrooms were copper and had to be sweated on, that he could only put that type in there. Since the water lines under the kitchen sink had been changed to PEX he could use the other kind (that I asked for) in there. I was going to get an outside shutoff valve installed as well, but when water was turned off at meter water continued to drip from outside faucet when open and in the lines inside as well. Jeremy sucked water out of the line with a shop vac so he could sweat fittings etc. however I had to call ECUA out to replace the shut off valve at the meter because the pipes for the new shutoff valve are glued on and no water can be coming through the line or the glue won't dry. A big shout out to the men from ECUA. It was hot and wet but when they finished there was no more water dripping from the outside faucet. Jeremy and Bre had another job to go to after me believe it or not. It started raining also, so will reschedule the outside shutoff installation. I gave Kimmons an A in price because though they can be higher than some others, you get your money's worth every time. I wanted to give an A in responsiveness but sometimes it can take awhile for Tommy to call back. I know it is because he is in high demand and if an emergency call comes in that can't wait he may call and ask to reschedule your job. I have always told him I am flexible and don't mind waiting for him because they are worth waiting for. Also I always request Jeremy so I have to wait a little longer sometimes:-) So be a little patient and understanding. Kimmons is compassionate and tries to help seniors and others on low fixed incomes get the help they need and can afford. He also is as far as I know the only local plumber to employ a female to go on jobs and do plumbing. Bre is just as good a worker, if not better, than some men I have dealt with. I read the very few negative reviews and it does not sound like the company I have been dealing with for over 8 years. So do this: next plumbing job call several plumbers to get estimates. Ask about pricing; if by the job, what if anything could cause the estimated price to go up and what is included in the price. If by the hour, how much per hour, when does the clock start and if workers stop to go to lunch or have to go get a part that isn't on their truck will they subtract that from the total hours or expect you to pay for it anyway, also when does the clock stop. Some people charge for the time it takes to write up your bill and present it to you rather then when the job is finished. Also ask everybody if they give discounts for seniors and or military every little bit helps. When you find a great mechanic you can trust to fix your car, you go only to them and tell your friends about them too. After my car, the most expensive thing I own is my home. I have found my "house mechanic" when it comes to plumbing. They do great work and I trust them and yes I have referred them to friends.
Description of Work: multiple jobs from 2011 until present. Replumbing, faucet/fixture repairs, outside shutoff repair, fixing numerous problems created by another contractor.

I called Tommy Kimmons and he said he would do everything he could to get someone out there today. He did it! They guys came out, figured out that the pipe from the house to the septic tank was broken. They put a new pipe in and shored the whole thing up, and it works perfectly!! I love these people!!
Description of Work: None of our toilets were flushing correctly. The water drained down really slowly. Panic!!

I called Tommy on a Friday night and a two man crew came out Monday morning as promised. They quickly discovered as I had thought my washer drained into a separate, homemade septic tank made of bricks and poured concrete. We also found out the kitchen sink and dishwasher did too. They had to abandon the old tanks and run plumbing from my outbuilding to a newer permitted septic tank and from kitchen sink as well. They installed a clean out for the out building per the contract and also threw in one for the kitchen sink at no charge! Great service and am using them again to repipe a rental house I own down the street.
Description of Work: Washer drain was clogged and overflowing. I had suspected our washer drained into a separate, homemade septic tank because of the age of the house.

Description of Work: Called to get an estimate for some pretty extensive work. The guy seemed professional on the phone. When I first called, Mr. Kimmons couldn't send anyone out to my house immediately and tried to give me an easy task to do to see if it would fix the problem. I did what he suggested, but it ended up not fixing it. When I called again, he got someone to come out early the next day to fix it. Two gentlemen came out and fixed the problem quickly. It was a great first time experience. I'll definitely call them again.

This was the 3rd repair we called in Kimmons Plumbing to perform. It will be the last. We called them because the master bath shower needed a handle on the cold water valve because the retrofit knob from Lowe's was no longer working. In addition, the stem on the cold water valve leaked when the water was on, and both hot and cold water valves squeaked when the knobs were turned. The plumber came and replaced the stems with stems from a new faucet. The cost was $225 which seem high, but everything worked as we wanted. A week later, to the day the repair was done, the hot water valve would not turn the water off completely. Bear in mind that the hot water valve worked fine other than squeaking.) Now it dripped despite having been turned off tightly. So my partner called Kimmons back. This time, a 2 man crew came, not the guy who did the original repair. My partner, who was at the other end of the house and very hard of hearing, said he could hear them banging but did not see what they were doing. They worked an hour before telling him that it could not be repaired but had to be replaced. I was out of town working for the day, so I was not there to see what was going on. The cost quoted to replace the valve assembly was $595, but they would deduct the $225 already paid. They would have to cut a hole in the bedroom wall in order to access the valve assembly. My coworker said that $370 was not unreasonable (he used to do building maintenance) and typically, they would cover the opening with an access panel. That was a reasonable expectation, I thought. I got a text later that afternoon that they had to cut a second hole in order to replace the shower riser and arm. I don't know why they had to do that as those were working fine. I assume that it was because the valve assembly they had had a solder fitting for the shower riser and we have galvanized pipe. They had to remove the sideways 2x4 the the old shower arm was attached to. When I got home from work, they were gone with the job completed. I was stunned by what I found! The large hole they cut in the plaster is approximately 18 x 14 inches, and the 2nd hole about 5 x 4 inches. There was hot air coming down from the attic through the openings. They took my expensive escutcheon that was around the shower arm and replaced it with a 50 cent piece of crap. The shower arm is a slightly crooked and wobbles when touched because it can't be mounted firmly as the old one was without tearing out the tile. The diverter valve, shower head and hand shower were screwed on to the shower arm so tightly, that none of them could be adjusted. When I got up the next morning, when I tried to adjust the shower head, it came apart in my hands despite not having used much force to move it (it was a cheap shower head, but it worked and I liked it) so the first thing I did this morning was to swap the shower head from the hall bathroom. I am really upset at what these people did to my house. I don't understand how a relatively simple problem escalated to a $600 repair and left me with 2 holes in the Master bedroom wall that will never look like the original plaster. We trusted Kimmons with what should have been a simple repair and now we have a mess. The only reason I didn't give them an “F” is that the valve assembly does work and there are no leaks. Their invoices only say “parts and labor” so I can't tell what I really paid for. There is a statement in very small print that says “I acknowledge the satisfactory completion of the above described work.” My partner didn't see that and was told “he had to sign it”. I would have told them to get the h*** out of my house. This job is not done: I still have 2 holes that have to be patched and I need to buy an additional shower head for the hall bathroom. I wish I could post a picture.
Description of Work: Replaced the valve stamps and knobs on the master shower then came back a week later after the hot water would not stop dripping.

Very nice and very professional. Called them because bathrooms were not draining. they dug up the sewer line and found 2 holes tin the erra cotta pipe. Ran auger through sewer line to clear roots and patched 2 holes using PVC sleeves. They advised replacing line in future, but not required at this time. Advised us that septic tank needs to be pumped. Will definitely use again! They gave an estimate to replace the terra cotta pipe with PVC and it seems reasonable. Very happy with service performed.
