Although he goes by Escambia Drywall, Mike Hunt (owner) actually performs all manner of projects. He initially did drywall work for us, and did a great job. He knew I was looking to get my front deck redone, and gave me a bid to tear out the old wook and replace it with Trex, the composite material. Again, he did a great job. I was satisfied enough to give him the opportunity to do both back decks, which I wanted done in tile, and Mike told me he could do it. When I asked if he had the expertise, he looked me in the eye and said, "If I couldn't do it, I wouldn't bid it." The decks looked good initially, but I soon realized they leaked badly. Long story short, Mike couldn't fix them - no expertise in waterproofing, and no money to take care of his mistake. He tried, and was unsuccessful, and finally quit returning my calls/answering the phone. I should have vetted him better, and he should have been more honest. My loss? About $20,000, the cost of retiling the rear decks properly.
Description of Work: rebuilt 3 decks - 2 rear, 1 front

Description of Work: Mike and his helper installed a backsplash in our kitchen taking 1 1/2 days. He had come the week before and gave us an estimate and suggestions of where to purchase supplies. |We are very satisfied with the results and will employ him again when we tile our floors.

During a recent termite inspection conducted by Florida Pest Control (Pensacola FL) one of their inspectors miss-stepped between the trusses and managed to put a large hole through the ceiling in the garage. Florida Pest Control assured us they had a drywall expert available that could make the necessary repairs. Escambia Drywall (Michael Hunt) came out and surveyed the damage. The damaged sheetrock area was removed and additional 2 x 4 nailers installed to provide additional securing for the patched area. The original textured finish on the ceiling was that of Spanish Lace design. As a former sheet rock installer, I knew the finish would be difficult to match even for a finisher with experience and the correct tools (brushes). On the first attempt Mr. Hunt assured us to let the repair dry, then inspect. If we were not 100% satisfied with the repair, let him know so he would make it right. After a 48-hr drying period another assessment was made. The finish (texture) although adequate did not match the rest of the Spanish Lace ceiling. First thought was "good enough" and let it go because its was in the garage and a 1993 ceiling; one can't expect perfection. However, Mike did say he wanted to ensure 100% customer satisfaction. We spoke that day and went over some of the techniques and tools required to make the finishing blend in with the rest of the ceiling. Within the following 12-hrs Mike did come back and more than made it right. The finish is now flawless and undetectable with the rest of the 19+ year old ceiling. Mr. Hunt is truly skilled artisan and has a business that means what they say with 100% customer satisfaction.
