The assessment fee was $175 and was deductible off an air duct cleaning and/or sealing procedure. The quote was NOT just for cleaning 11 vents but was to clean the duct systems by a NADCA certified and trained professional as well as sealing your ducts from the inside resulting in potential long term energy savings. It was a complete solution to the problems that were being reported to us at the time of our visit. It not only included cleaning and sealing the duct system but it also included cleaning the blower assembly, evaporator coil, properly sealing the return, caulking your boots and applying an anti-microbial coating to the plenum area. The $175 while deductible paid for the certified technician and his helper to be at your property for 2 1/2 hours to properly diagnose your specific situation before making his recommendations to you which was a complete solution to your issues. While I understand you may have been upset or shocked by the price of a complete solution to solve your specific issues properly and professionally, I do not feel you are being fair or even honest to give the above review. When we contacted you a couple of days later to see if you had any questions about the quote you rudely laughed and hung up on our team member with no discussion what so ever. Why would you pay a certified highly rated professional to come into your home to give you an honest and true solution to your issues after a thorough assessment and then just act like we did nothing or offered not real value? Either way we thank you for the opportunity to learn from this specific human interaction. And weather you believe me or not we do truly wish you well and hope you proceed with a proper corrective action to your problems with an properly trained and licensed professional.

They arrived and got right to work. There were two technicians, and they finished in a timely manner. The only issue was that they cleaned up somewhat, but still left a mess. Outside was understandable because dryer lint was harder to get completely cleaned up; however, the inside could have been left in a better state.

You stated that we cleaned your chimney when in fact we did not clean your chimney. According to our records, we only provided an inspection and did not recommend a cleaning because it would not benefit you. We then sent an estimate for repairs that were recommended including detailed pictures, repair estimate, after pictures of work we have completed before and sample written warranties for the suggested repairs. Our customers for the past 16 years have been absolutely WOWED by our thorough and professional process and yet you have determined we deserve an F for professionalism. Furthermore, you listed a D on quality of work. I am not sure how being honest and forthright with your inspection correlates to a low quality score. What exactly was low quality? Then to add insult to injury you listed a C for punctuality. Your appointment was scheduled for arrival time between 3-4pm. We arrived at 3pm per our records (check your copy) and called the day before to confirm your appointment. In regards to you listing a C for responsiveness, we made a follow up phone call two days after the estimate for repair was e-mailed to you, verifying you received it and offered to answer any questions you may have about the estimate. That phone call was an optimum time to speak up about your dissatisfaction with your service. In addition to that, I am not sure why these comments and ratings are just now being posted, 5 months after the fact. There were no indications from the inspection or follow up call made that we were unprofessional, non responsive, untimely and somehow provided subpar quality work during your inspection. There was certainly an opportunity to inform our office staff what had happened so that we could have corrected it or cleaned whatever was made dirty. It is unfortunate for you to have waited so long to make a complaint that could have easily been corrected in a timely fashion. Instead you listed it on Angie's List without even giving Doodlebuggers a chance to fix it. In conclusion, the integrity of our company rest upon the shoulders of our staff. Our technicians are nationally certified, properly insured and professionally trained to the highest measure and we uphold those standards throughout our company. It went well and it's a service I will have done on a yearly basis. I could tell the difference in the drying time after it was done. Now that there's a cap on the outside vent I won't have to worry about critters coming into the house. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

Doodlebuggers were professional from the very first inquiry. Nathan perfromed the inspection and went above and beyond what I thought the inspection would entail. We had some recently discovered wood damage revealed during a routine chimney inspection. Nathan explained everything he would be checking for before he checked, and invited me to walk through the home with him as he read out the water meter and what the averages should be and what our readings were. Mold was confirmed in more places than I expected such as the duct work, air handler closet, bathroom (beneath vanity) and in the attic. Air testing was conducted and the report was returned within 48 hours. The report was easy to read and Jonathon from Doodlebuggers even took the time to read out the report to me. A plan for remediation was sent the next day with a detailed estimate. Their honesty of approaching the work by clearly stating that the remediation would not be as effective as it would if the source of the water and moisture were completed allowed me to proceed with my insurance company and not complete redundant services. We will be contacting them again as soon as the source of the problems are restored.

I first used Doodlebuggers to clean my AC vents for the whole house several years ago. I had mildew in them following a hurricane. I was very impressed by their professionalism and neatness. I highly recommend them! Recently, I had them back to determine whether or not i needed to have the vents cleaned again as it has been almost ten years. It was determined that they were not too bad yet so I have decided to wait for now, but will call them for sure when needed. Very impressive service!

I was contacted before arrival of the technician and told his name. He identified himself when he arrived, explained what he was going to do and went to work. He arrived at the exact appointment time. At all times he conducted himself in a most professional manner. He worked quickly but thoroughly and when finished reviewed his findings and recommendations with me. At no time was there any pressure to have any additional work performed. I later received an email with the quote for work discussed and the pictures and written report of the inspection findings.|We are considering gas logs and the tech offered a recommendation of places to look when we were ready to have them installed. They neither sell nor install gas logs. I will use them in the future for work needed before the gas logs are installed and have no hesitation in recommending them.

The third Doodle Bug rep I spoke with seemed to have some answers. She quoted me a rate of $175 for inspection and cleaning, about 30-40% higher than many DoodleBug prices quoted here on Angie's List. I told her I'd like to go ahead and schedule an appointment but that I'd also shop around to see if I could find a better price in the area. ( In most customer service circles, this is a chance tor the provider to either sell me on the value of their higher price, or adjust their price to meet the market. What happened instead was...) I was next informed that my appointment would be held until 3:00 PM this afternoon (clearly not enough time to get good quotes), then it would be canceled. I noted that there wouldn't be much time, and it had taken me three reps to get to the right person. Could I be provided with a direct number. This is where the customer representative got snippy with me. I was informed that the first person couldn't hear me, so I was then passed on to someone else who could hear me fine but the was the current representative's assistant (a CS rep has an assistant?), and that in reality it hadn't taken me three reps at all. This message was delivered with such disdain in her voice that I had to pause. Then I hung up. I will not do business with a company that who's first instinct is to blame the customer when anything goes wrong. Thank you, but no.

I chose to call a representative to provide the information needed for a quote. I am glad I did as it showed me exactly how DoodleBug likes to handles its customers... and its not good.

What is most interesting is that you are a previous air duct customer of Doodlebuggers. So showing you exactly how Doodlebuggers "handle" their customers is something you already experienced. You obviously appreciated the great service we provided back on 10/7/2011 or you would not have called us again to service your chimney. November is one of our busiest times during the year in our chimney division. It is possible that you spoke to a new staff member, in training, during your initial call, however they are trained to follow a script to provide every customer with the most outstanding customer service. In regards to holding a time slot for you while you price shop our rates, that certainly would not make good business sense on anyone's part. Most Angie's List consumers are more concerned with great service and value for the dollar than the cheapest prices. Depending on the type of fireplace and home you have depicts the price for your services. So comparing your rates to rates listed on Angie's list is not comparing apples to apples. Your rates were not 30% -40% higher than what was listed on Angie's list. You were quoted rates based upon your individual home and fireplace type. It seems to me that you were disappointed that we did not discount our rates at your request. Our initial email response to you asked basic questions as to quote you the correct price for your chimney service. Reference the initial email response below. Email Response from Doodlebuggers: Thank you for your request for service. In the chimney division, we send a CSIA Certified Technician to your home. He will perform an inspection top to bottom above the roofline and inside the firebox. He will take digital photos if he happens to see anything out of the ordinary and provide you a 21 Point Condition Report when he is finished. To give you appropriate pricing, I need some basic questions answered. 1. Is your home a 1 story or 2 story? 2. What type of fireplace is it Prefab, Masonry (brick and mortar in firebox and on chimney), Insert (cast iron doors on the front), gas, woodstove? 3. How long has it been since your last service? Please note that this time of year we are book 2 and 3 weeks out so getting an appointment the next day may not be possible but depending on your location and our availability on our different routes is possible. It may be easier to call our office then to respond to this email. Our office numbers are 850-477-1151 or 850-243-0154. Our business hours are Monday through Friday from 8am – 5pm. I received an e-mail with prices. Call with some questions about the estimate . Spoke with "Tom" the owner/manager about price. Told him I had the chimney top and would pay to have mine installed and that the estimate did not show a 10% military discount which is advertised. He got defensive and stated he pays workman's comp, payroll insurance ect.... But would send me a new estimate . After 2 weeks of me calling that I had not gotten an updated estaminet ...." Tom" was out of town, in the field on another call. None of my calls were returned....they even stopped answering the phone. ( must have caller ID ). I feel that my $125.00 was taken from me . I did not tell them I didn't accept the estaminet THEY wouldn't send another, return my call or contact me in any way. So Doodlebuggers is not a business that I would recommend to anyone ! Also my top is the exact model number he wanted me to purchase from him at over twice the price I paid, as I stated I would pay for the installation . 125.00 inspection only Over 1800.00 to do the job Receptionist name Karen Inspector James Simmons who was very nice. This is for chimney cleaning/ repair.

The customer declined certain recommended services and requested to purchase their own product and pay for our company to install it. We said that is fine, requested her to cross out any unwanted services on the estimate, sign it and fax it back to the office. Upon receipt, we would issue a new estimate including the customer request. We never received the signed estimate, therefore we did not issue a new estimate. Tom did speak with the customer about her bid, but unfortunately, she did not follow the above listed request. The $125.00 fee is for the through inspection performed by our CSIA certified technicians that includes a 21 point condition report. The fee covers our cost for the technician, overhead including insurance & vans as well as numerous other business expenses. We are a business and have extremely competitive prices for our services. I safely assume, the customer has been misguided to believe our business is a charity and not a for-profit entity. We ensure that the customer and our business is protected through the protocols and insurances we have in place. As you imagined, these items are not for free. Let me ask these questions to your comment about our prices being twice the price as you found on the internet. Who pays for the training of the certified technicians, the insurance, the vans and equipment, the office space and phones to run the business? Does the price for your internet cap include installation by a CSIA trained & certified technician? If not who will install it, stand behind the installation and at what price? We have to include this in our prices to stay in business. In conclusion, if we would have received the signed estimate with any cross outs of unwanted services, then these remarks would be compliments that would be added to our raving fan club!

Wonderful experience with doodlebuggers.
Description of Work: Doodlebuggers came out to do an inspectiion on our fireplace for insurance purposes. We had Firplace Doctors come out and quoted 1200.00 dollars for repair to the system citing blowing rain and cracks in the fireplace. The were very short and not willing to negotiate on the price. Called Doodlebuggers and they came out promptly. There was no cracks and the chimney cap was fine. It had been replaced eight years earlier and we don't use the fireplace much except for the clean logs. Got the inspection form for the insurance company and learned that Fireplace Doctors have alot of simular complaints. Will use doodlebuggers again and our daughter used them with the same satisfied results.

Overall, pleased with work.
Description of Work: Chimney sweep service. They did a decent and thorough job. Professional and courteous. They did close the damper/flue however and didn't let me know so next time I had a fire the entire house filled with smoke. All of my personal interactions with this company were professional and pleasant. Unfortunately, my chimney was damaged during their inspection and there was a general disagreement regarding the circumstances surrounding this event. So, we decided not to enter into any contracts subsequent to that incident. To their credit, Doodlebuggers repaired my chimney at no cost to me. I have no reason not to recommend Doodlebuggers to someone else.
