Description of Work: This was such a bad experience that I am taking the time to add it to Angies list nearly a year later; I just renewed by membership. There was one plumber and a new helper in training. Our 6 year old washer , Kenmore, stopped working and would not drain. He told us on a Monday, he would have the part in 48hrs and repaired in three days ,probably done by Thursday, the latest. We did not have our washing machine for nearly two weeks even though the part came in.. At our first meeting for the estimate, we informed him that we were going out of town and needed our washer repaired prior to leaving. He assured it would be done, took our deposit and that was it! We had to beg and plead multiple times to get him over when he said he would be here. We had to leave town knowing our washer was broken( with dirty clothes) despite his promises to repair it. He made several appt.s with us and broke them by just not showing up ! When I pleaded with him to do what he said he would do, he told me I better go find a good laundry mat soon. I called his wife and pleaded with her to get him over to do the work. I work very long hours 12-14 and going to a laundry mat for either one of us was hard. I would have contacted someone else had I known it would take him so long to do the work. He finally repaired the washer, got it going and it still doesn't run right. The computer board is messed up,and it and it has to be turned on and off to spin and sometimes does not drain but does run etc... you have to be in the home when it is running. The draining tube won't stay in the drain and overflows. I have walked in and found 2inches of water all over my kitchen area . I waited on him to show up several times and he did not. It was outrageous. He was horrible and I would never ever recommend him. He totally took advantage of us,lied to us and mocked me. It still doesn't run right.

Will never use them again!!
Description of Work: They came to repair dishwasher and garbage disposal. I was quoated $340 for dishwaher, which is only worth $400. obviously did not have them fix it. Quoted me $299 for the garbage disposal, if I had them both fixed. The older gentlemen had the younger one, look a t my disposal and tell me if was a 1/2 horsepower, when in reality it was 3/4 hp. Although I knew I was being over charged, I went ahead and let him replace it with a 1/2hp. When I mentioned the coupon in the phone book, he acted offended, and didn't want to honor it. I endeded up paying $260. In retrospect , I should have kicked him out of my house. If I had only joined Angies's list before, it would have saved me tremendously!!

When the owner arrived he had a younger serviceman with it and it appeared that he was mentoring him. The owner looked at the icemaker/the parts/the door assembly and said that he had to order the parts and I had to pay $200 up front so that he could order them. The check was cashed quickly and only after I called daily and got one excuse after another did I finally get him to return to my house -- approx. 3 weeks later. He said he fixed it, replaced only a spring in door assembly which didn't fix a thing. He is rude, unprofessional and a thief. Do not let this man or any representative of his company in your house.
Description of Work: The owner/serviceman came to my house to repair an ice maker.

Did get a good company the second time from Angie's list. Wife showed him the receipt for time and parts done by ABC and he concurred that some of the parts had not been changed
Description of Work: Over charged from original service quote. Overcharged for parts that he did not replace. Very rude. Did not fix the problem, when I called to have them come back out, first time they simply did not come out or call. Second time got run around and a bunch of excuses including being at hospital. Would not ever let that company on my property again.

All-American Appliance is owned by the same person as ABC Appliance Repair.
Description of Work: I choose not to list what was done because the owner could be reading this and I would fear repercussions from him. He's totally unprofessional.

Long story short ABC owner required a $200.00 deposit but would order the parts over the weekend and would finish the repair on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. After repeated calls on Monday it was discovered wrong model number was recorded by the owner of ABC. Now the deal was washer would be repaired on Tuesday or Wednesday. So Tueday passes with no call and the same applies to Wednesday. ABC would never call to update the status. On Wednesday we were told parts would definitely ship and be available for install on Thursday. Again no calls but we were advised part would arrive late on Thursday for Friday install. Needless to say Friday couldn't install be would do it Saturday for sure. Saturday came and went until 5:30 PM when owner called saying it would have to be done the following week. Our impression is these folks are a total scam. The BBB grades them as a total failure and we would give them slightly less. Promises have been made to refund the deposit but now after a month plus no calls or cash refund. In my opinion these folks prey on folks on vacationers knowing their time is limited and their ability to chase a problem after they go home from vaction is not a reasonable alternative. The real sadness of this deal is they will do this again, and again and again.
Description of Work: Contacted ABC to repair a washing machine while we were on vacation in the Destin Florida area. Responded late keeping us waiting which of course went over real well instead of our family playing on the beach. We were quoted approx 1/2 the cost of a new machine but that was ok if the repair could be made on a timely basis.

We called ABC Appliance repair on or around Tuesday the 11th of August. We were told the service provider would be there later afternoon or early evening and that it wasn't unusual for him to work into the late evening. Around eight o'clock at night i called the number and asked if he still planned on coming. He said he was done for the night but would be there the next day or Wednesday the 12th of August. Wednesday came and went and we called around four o'clock in the afternoon to see what time he was going to come by. Again we were told he wasn't going to make it that day and that he would be at our house at noon on Thursday the 13th of August. Around 11:45 in the morning i called the service provider to double check and make sure he would be here at noon. His response was i told you i would be there at noon..."What time is it now?" I responded 11:45 a.m. "Oh well i am not going to make it by noon." He finally arrived around two or two thirty. Like i said above he was here for about 15 minutes and said the washer would work fine once it had clothes in it. After he left my wife loaded clothes in it and it made the same sound as it did when it had no clothes in it. We called him and asked him to come back and fix it. He again said he would be here at noon on friday the 14th of August. This time i called at 10:30 in the morning to check and see if he would be on time. Again i was told that he would not be there at noon and he would be stopping by sometime in the afternoon. I called between six and six thirty and asked if he was going to make it. He said he was too tired to come by but would be there first thing in the morning. At this point my patience was gone and i told him to keep the $85 dollars we had paid and I would never use his service again and would make sure all my friends would never use his business. He got upset and told me "don't be a weasel sir, don't be a weasel." He hung up the phone on me and then called back about five to ten minutes later. He offered to refund half the money and fix the washer. I told him that if he wanted one last chance to make it right that he could refund the money for fix the washer. He said he would come by saturday to fix the washer. He never showed, but i didn't expect him to at this point. He did call at 0659 on Monday the 17th of August to get our address to send the refund check. Today is the 26th of August and i am still waiting for the check. We eventually called Sears and their service tech fixed the problem by removing the last two bracing brackets leftover from the move which took about five minutes.
Description of Work: ABC Appliance Repair was called to service my washer and dryer. We had recently moved and prior to the move a "moving kit" was installed in the washer to stabilize the drum (front load) for the move. When the "move kit" was installed i was told to make sure all moving kit parts were removed prior to using the washer. When we arrived in our new house we called ABC Appliance Repair to have them check the washer for any leftover move kit parts and make sure the dryer was installed properly. The service provider arrived two and half days after he said he would and was at the house approximately 15 minutes. He replaced some rubber washers in the water supply lines to the washer and told us that the washer made a sound now but when it had clothes in it the sound would go away. He asked for $85, which we paid in cash. The first time we put clothes in the washer the sound did not go away.
