Rather than unhooking our dryer & washer, they just cut the hoses. Along with that, they were supposed to take apart our shelving units and they just wrapped them up and stuck the whole units in the truck. They broke or damaged most of our furniture (which was all wrapped before loading). They had lost an antique radio (that was a family heirloom) which somehow ended up in Seattle. We managed to get it back but it was also damaged. They were supposed to arrive no later than December 3rd and didn't arrive until the 11th. The original pickup date was November 22nd and we made the move from the Miami area to Salem, OR in about 7 days. We move around quite a bit and this was by far the worst moving experience I have ever had.
Description of Work: They had originally quoted us around $3,000.00 for a complete moving service but ended up charging us over $7,000.00. If we didn't pay up they wouldn't give us our stuff back, quoting that we ended up "having more than originally anticipated".

This company is a SCAM, and I believe they FALSIFY their online reviews on public websites. They are a BROKERAGE company although they will tell you otherwise and outright claim in their emails that they're not a broker. They brokered out my moving contract to another company (that has terrible reviews) WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME, which is against DOT regulation. The driver showed up 4.5 hours LATE and arrived by himself with no one to help him pack or move all of my belongings. He arrived in a rented Ryder truck that did not match the DOT truck # provided to me in my contract, also against DOT regulation. He also arrived without packing material. He asked me for a pen and immediately told me that they would have to revise my contract because I had more items than they originally quoted me. He also said he estimated that it would take him 4 hours to pack up the things in my 800 sq ft apartment. I told him that I did not want to begin packing that evening since he didn't show up until 6:30 PM. He handed me his cell phone and told me that I would have to call his manager and get his permission first. He started to calculate on his cell phone what my new estimate would be. I saw him calculate $4,475 (twice the "binding quote" and contract I entered into weeks earlier.) However, he did not communicate this number to me. Instead he told me he would not get started tonight, but planned to stay in a hotel and get started the next day. He said he would call me at 9 AM and check in before they would arrive to move my things between Noon and 1 PM. That was weird since he drove from Chicago to Indianapolis for the move - you would think we'd start at 8 or 9 AM. He told me he would provide my revised estimate when he arrived at noon. By this time, I knew I had been scammed (lies, brokering, rented truck, INCREASING PRICES AT THE LAST MINUTE... all major red flags). So, I told him I would wait for his call at 9 AM, but once he left, I started packing. With some help from friends, I had all my items boxed and moved into a U-Haul early the next morning. He never called at 9 AM, but I was on the road with all my things in the U-Haul by 11AM. I lost my $921 deposit, but based on the other true reviews I found about them online, the situation would have been much worse if I had let them take my things. This whole experience is why I purchased an Angie's List membership in the first place. If I had started searching for a moving company here, I would never have been misled by what appear to be fake online reviews.
Description of Work: This company scammed me. They were hired to perform full packing and moving services, but I ended up cancelling the contract and walking away from my $921 deposit due to this company's lies and actions.

It went very badly. The movers left behind several items (including those they actually tagged) forcing me to have to send them by UPS. The company who picked up my things was not Progressive, but a contractor. They told me they would deliver on Saturday September 14 or Sunday September15. They also told me the driver would call me 24 hours in advance. When I did not hear from them on Friday, September 13, I called, was given the run around for four hours before finally being told that my belongings has not left FL and that they had up to 3 weeks to deliver them! The person I spoke with was very rude and unhelpful. They then told me that was in the contract. Well, not in the contract I originally signed, but on the back of the contract the mover had me sign after my things were already loaded. When they finally did deliver today my sofa was ripped, they lost the shelves to an antique china cabinet, broke the leg on an antique chair and gouged a dresser. Now I will need to deal with the same lovely people to try to get the damage covered. I would never suggest using them under any condition.

Totally horrible and it's not over..... I was given an estimate of $1500 for the move and the pick-up date was to be June 30. On June 30, I got a call saying it would be July 2. I took off that day because they couldn't give me a pick up time. Got a call the evening of July 1 saying it would be between 5 and 8 pm on July 2. Kept getting calls on the evening of July 2 saying they were running late and it would be very late in the night when they arrived. They said they could pick up at 5:30 the next morning. That was Ok with me since I have to be at work at 7:00. Then the time was changed to 9:30. Arrived at 10:15. My mother and a friend were they since I didn't want to take off work again. The "head" guy was extremely rude to my 84 year old mother. Insisted on seeing the check I had left before they would start packing. THEN he informed her that it would be $2800 instead of $1500... So I went home to deal with them. I have moved all over the country and to foreign countries. I KNOW what a moving box is. This smart a** told me that a large moving box was 2.5' X 2.5' X 1'... yes, slightly bigger than a boot box. I ended up not sending 6 boxes and an entry hall table that were packed to go to keep the cost down. I was charged $400 more that the quote ~~ $200 of that was a "gas surcharge". I asked when things would be delivered. Smart a** asked "when do you want it delivered?" I said as soon as possible the next week which would have been July 7 - 13. I called on July 10 to see if things were on the way and was told they would be loaded on to the truck from the warehouse and would head out of Friday. Didn't hear anything so I called Monday and was told they would leave the warehouse on Wednesday and would be delivered in 3 to 5 days. I flew to Virginia to be there when things arrived. On Friday(July 19) I called again and they truck still hadn't left. I had to fly back to Arkansas on the 22nd. Things finally arrived today, July 27. The roll top desk was destroyed... I dread even trying to deal with them for a claim. I was forced into a rage every time I had to deal with them from the pick-up on. I will be very surprised if I ever receive any compensation for the damage. They e-mailed me a claim form. States that I have to send pictures from "developed film" and that they don't except pictures from a digital camera. Really?? Who has a camera like that anymore??? I feel like the whole thing is a scam ~~ low bid and then after they have your deposit, they jack up the price. They lied about everything. And now my daughter has broken roll top desk that means so much to her because it was a gift from her grandfather.
Description of Work: Moving a roll top desk, a sleeper love seat, 2 bar stools, a coffee table, 2 end tables and 10 boxes of household goods from Hot Springs, AR to Fairfax, VA
