Absolutely perfect, read above.
Description of Work: I have a large home that needed to be painted for the interior space . There's approximately 3,600 sq. ft. of home, plus vaulting ceilings and a foyer that is 18' tall with detailed intricate beam-work, twenty-plus or so doors both sides,15 rooms, trim throughout and baseboards throughout, not to mention multiple closets with many walk-ins, laundry room, hallways and a breakfast area. The work in itself would have been a "dream come true" to many companies. I interviewed 8 companies, all of which I found right here in Angie's List. I will say, I had a nice experience with all but what stood out with Mr. Hart and his company was his directness regarding the job at hand and without any type of "sales-pitch" that I did find prior interviewing for estimates for the job. He [Mr. Hart, Hart's Painting] arrived in what I would say in layman's term, painters' clothing. The other sales representatives arrived in suits and just did not "feel right" to me. However, in their defense, I must say, all were extremely nice and courteous, but it was something about how he approached me. I asked him about his attire and his response was simple: "I'm working, and I have you scheduled, so I came here straight from my work at hand." I know this sounds silly, but building this home, and having to work with so many "sales-individuals", I actually was drawn to this approach. It told me without asking Mr. Hart if he is a "hands-on" individual (meaning, do you just assign a job or are you actually available to supervise). I really liked his direct approach to his estimate of the job and he did not try and sale me on upgrades or using the most expensive paint. I had many questions regarding the paint (I had my colors picked ahead of time and I was extremely specific on these colors) and he said he normally does not use the company I had chosen, but if this is what I wanted, it will be to the absolute best of his ability to perform the job. I said to him, and I will actually quote: "I'm only painting walls here, not a Picasso" and he said, "There's nothing wrong with your decision, I will do it to the best of my ability, your colors are actually nice." Now, with this said. I must say, after interviewing 8 companies, Hart's Painting was not the least the expensive one nor the most. He actually fell in the middle. I had offers as low as 3,900.00 to 9,200.00 for the same job. After the process was finished, (I must add he gave me a beginning date and an ending date for the job; however, I added projects along the way which extended his original completion date by four days but I was extremely happy about that situation) he requested me to do a final "walk-through" to make sure I was happy with the work before I gave him his final payment. What I found out through the process, and not by Mr. Hart but one of his senior employees, it required more than two coats of paint on all the doors since the home was new construction and had not been painted prior and he only charged me for two coats and this also included the baseboards and trim throughout the entire home Also, I stated, "Wow, it must have been hard to have removed all of these doors throughout the home and spray painted them on both sides multiple times to make such a beautiful finish", and what I found out was that the doors as well as the trim and all of the beam work was done strictly by hand. There was absolutely no "spray painting". Plus, I was impressed that they removed all of the hardware on the doors and not just simply tape them off, then they put the pieces back on. Now, I don't know if you know about painting doors, but when you do it by brush and you have detailed doors, paint gathers in the corners of the detailed work. It did not happen here, at all. Furthermore, I had ceilings that I attempted to paint in my kitchen and did not do a very nice job, and he had it 'redone' without any charge. And, what I also found out was that they took off ALL of the knobs and outlet switches, painted, then put them back. Not tape around them. Wow, was I impressed. O.K. With all that said, let me say, I would hire Mr. Hart and Hart's Painting in a heartbeat and I would recommend them to any and all of my personal friends or otherwise that may ask me. I am proud of the work that has been performed. The only room I did not include in my job for Mr. Hart was my Garage only because I am using it as a storage area for things while the house is being finalized with all of the construction. I asked him if he would return and do a job as small as a garage and his response to me was: "Absolutely, if you need something done, you call me. Nothing is too small nor too large. I will find a way." This is the type of individual I honestly recommend you to interview Mr. Hart for your work. If I could personally give Hart's Painting a "Platinum Star", I would. He is direct, not full of 'mindless chatter' and will tell you what he can do and ask you what you want, then if he can perform what you want, he will tell you. Yes, give him an interview. I think you will be extremely happy. I love "Family Owned" businesses... one always gets what they pay for, and [he] is worth every cent.
