BAY HEATING & COOLING

Description of Work: We had signed a contract in May, 2022 to replace our heating and cooling system(3 ton 17 SEER 3 stage variable speed). However, we wanted gas heating and electric cooling, creating difficulties because of federal legislation (mandatory heat pump manufacturing), compounded by COVID-related supply issues, resulting in delays. Unit did not arrive until December, 2022. Installation further complicated by unexpected minor size differences between unit received (see above) and unit removed. However, the unit was finally installed, ductwork in the attic was reviewed and found to be damaged as a result of Hurricane Michaell (2018) and repaired. Both the heating operation and cooling operation was tested. A new thermostat was installed, both my wife and I were instructed in its function and operation, and the men who performed all installation work, both in the attic and in the house cleaned their respective work areas to my wife's rigorous satisfaction!

Description of Work: First of two semi-annual system inspection (Fall and Spring, $100 each) Very professional and competent job. Cleaned, inspected and optimized the two systems in our house and performed needed preventative maintenance that will undoubtedly save us money by avoiding emergency service when the parts found to be failing eventually and suddenly fully failed (probably on a holiday weekend). Highly recommend.

Description of Work: I have a Peaden service plan. My air conditioner was not cooling and called Peaden. Peaden came and after de-icing my attic unit and refilling w/ freon, they told me I had a leak and needed a new evaporation coil. They said the whole job would be $1390 with my discount. I decided to get a 2nd estimate due to previous experiences with Peaden and they then charged me $354 for the freon & visit ; said if I had them do the job it would be $1036 (they took the $354 of freon and de-icing work of the $1390 estimate). I contacted Jimmy at Bay Heating & Cooling and explained my situation in an email I sent from Angie's List. He called me first thing the next morning and wanted me to use the Peaden estimate to give him unit #'s etc. so he could price the coil. He called me back two-three times to discuss options and he quoted me $1078 dollars and told me at this point Peaden would be cheaper for me since coil was so expensive for my unit. I told him I wanted him to do the job, because I thought there was a chance he might have different opinion when he got here to do the repair. Jimmy had to reschedule with me because of my calendar/apt.'s and he was very gracious. When he came on the reschedule visit today he went in the attic and was not there long. He came down and told me there was a leak but it could be fixed for $225 or he could go on and replace the coil because it was looking rough, but if it were him he would do the $225 fix and just wait it out. I agreed. He eventually located the leak as incorrect solder during the install of my unit originally. Therefore, it was even easier to fix. He had to add another pound of freon and charged me $40 vs. the $80 that Peaden charged me. I am extremely pleased to have found such an honest and Christian man to do this work. I will never again use Peaden and I am so pleased to have found this small business and have the owner do the work himself!
