Doug's Hourly Muscle Movers

Moved across the state from Bradenton to St. Augustine. We got three quotes and, while this was not the least expensive, it was in the ballpark and they came highly recommended by our new neighbors, so we decided to give them a try. I have moved many times and this was by far the best move I have ever had! Alex and Jay showed up on time, loaded the truck quickly and carefully, drove 4 hours and then unloaded the truck equally quickly and carefully! We left our old home at 9 am and were in our new home by 2 pm! They were professional and kind, with not one grumble when I asked them to move furniture from place to place until I decided where I wanted it. The best part was, when it came time to pay the bill, the bill was less than they quoted and they even deducted 45 minutes for their lunch stop!!! I certainly did not expect that!! I have recommended them to all my friends for any kind of move I highly recommend them to anyone who reads this review! Thank you Alex and Jay!!!

My father and I moved out of a 4 story townhome. Dougs had everything in the truck and ready to go in less time than they had predicted. It was extremely hot but they were fast and efficient and smiled the whole time. Nothing was broken or damaged. They supplied the wardrobe boxes to move everything that was on hangers. They even took my beds and furniture apart and reassembled it on the other end. They are the best. Very friendly too!!

DO NOT USE TO LOAD A TRUCK. Moving guys didn't use blankets that were provided to be put under cellophane wrap and furniture got significantly damaged. The simple task of putting heavy boxes under light boxes wasn't performed. Doug's Hourly Movers provided no reimbursement since they didn't drive the truck cross county. They unloaded us when we had moved a year prior and that went great with a different crew and much less skill needed.

Avoid... and why. 1. Unloading (experience #1) ..... I have used and would use again. Actually that was a 5 star experience. Notice their name implies muscle and not skill. 2. Loading (experience #2): even though I supplied 5 dozen blankets only 2 dozen were used and things like wooden furniture were wrapped in the clear plastic wrap with no blanket. Lots of damage to lots of wood items. Also, heavy boxes were stacked on light boxes leading to more damage. This is amateur stuff. THE DAMAGE IS NOT WORTH THE SAVINGS USING DOUG'S HOURLY MUSCLE. .... oh yeah, almost forgot, they broke a window in house that I had to discover 3. Fine print: if they load your truck but don't drive it they aren't going to cover any damage.

They were on time and worked very quickly...completed the whole move in two hours.

The went very smoothly. They moved everything in four hours from start to finish. That includes the furniture, the boxes that we packed, and some boxes that they packed. It was faster than estimated and the cost was less than estimated. We were very pleased.

The guys were great and the service was awesome. They came out and did a quote several weeks in advance of the move, dropped off boxes in advance and then promptly arrived on the day of the move and worked non-stop. The price was fair as the guys helped us do some minor packing, had a great sense of humor and had an eye for detail and treated our items carefully.

Doug's team moved me to a new house at the beach for hopefully the third at last time. The team is courteous, prompt and extremely hard working. They are in constant motion and go above and beyond to help reassemble treadmills, consult and hookup new dryer connections, deliver boxes and pick them up when you're done.

Great job done timely, professionally, cheerfully, correctly, without damage; arising to every whim of owner with a smile. This is the third time they have moved us over 15 years. Totally trustworthy family operation with long time employees.

Have meant to write a review for many months, but kept being too busy or forgetting. The two young men (have also forgotten their names) that moved our large &/or heavy furnishings were top-notch in every way. They never stopped working the entire five-hour process of the loading, unloading & situating our many furnishings. They worked as an efficient team, & weren't slow either! The entire move with them was smooth & stress-free. My wife was the one with them that day & praises them highly. We would not hesitate to hire this company again, & recommend them highly. We first used DHM in 2011 when we moved from one home to a condo in Treasure Island FL. They did a great job then, so we contacted them for a subsequent move from Treasure Island to Sun City Center, FL. Doug came out personally to provide an estimate, and he and Jackie scheduled our move according to some special requests of my wife. On 04/06/2015 his crew arrived and packed up numerous items, including dishes, pots, pans, etc. On 04/07 the crew arrived and loaded three vans with furniture, packed boxes, and all our household items. They agreed to hold the contents overnight in a secure location and then moved us into our new home on 04/08/2015 and began the unpacking process. On 04/09/2015, 04/10/2015, and 04/12/2015, one man (as we requested) returned to help my wife unpack additional boxes. Doug provided and delivered boxes in advance of our move so that we could pack many items ourselves. This saved us money and allowed us to organize our possessions prior to the move. All boxes were included in the cost, and were picked up by DHM when we had completely unpacked. This is a great service, and a money saver for which many other movers charge extra. ! I got referred to Dough's HM by my awesome realtor who does a lot of business in the area and flips houses himself after fixing them up and staging them. He uses DHM often so he highly recommended them for any moving needs I had. Dough came the next day I called Jackie for an estimate/quote. He explained how they do their moves, shared useful tips and tricks for making my packing easier and faster since I was packing my own stuff. He said that whatever I don't pack, like large or awkward shape items they will handle. So, basically he sat me at ease about my move. Jackie sent 2 guys to move my large armoire from our guestroom to the garage to declutter the house. The armoire was very large and heavy but their guys moved it so carefully and strategically, not hurrying and constantly communicating with each other so that they wouldn't put any dents or scratches on my walls or the piece. I was impressed. Jackie charged me their hourly rate of $190 for the first hour. but since this small move took only 30 minutes, she credited 1/2 of that hourly fee back to me after my main move was completed. She said that since their minimum is 1 hr. to be fair to both of us, she would just adjust my final bill like that. I agreed with their rationale. She put me on schedule for my move 1 month in advance. On the day of my move, Dough and Jackie were out of town, but their son, Vern, was amazing in the way he pulled off my move. I was supposed to rent a Uhaul truck so that they wouldn't have to hold up 2 of their trucks for my move since I wasn't moving into my new house until 2 days later. The Uhaul truck had messed up my reservation although I had double-booked it with them. Vern took over and picked up the Uhaul and got enough guys to make up for the lost time. Each of his crews had a move scheduled earlier that day for other customers but they still pulled through for me so I would be moved out of my house on time. I was impressed and happy with the way these guys worked smoothly, without any dents or scratches on my belongings. When one scratch occured and I pointed it out to them immediately, they fixed it right away and I couldn't even see any signs of it. Again, the fact that we didn't have to stress about any property damage to the house I was selling was a relief! I hadn't been able to pack some of my belongings in the garage that were large or odd-shaped. Their guys packed them up in a jiffy in large and sturdy wardrobes and they were off in time for me to be able to clean my house and turn it over to my buyers! Their entire outfit and crew are reliable problem-solvers and took the stress of the move off of my shoulders by putting it on their shoulders and doing it with a smile, respect, sense of humor and laughs. I would use them for all of my large or difficult moving needs in the future. For the smaller and not so heavy items I can get my son's help and use our own truck but DHM is an expert at what they do and that makes a huge difference in the way my move went. Their price is not the cheapest but it is reasonable and competitive for the area. I've paid for more and less for my previous moves. But, I must say that dealing with people who don't complain, solve problems, don't in-fight and don't put the responsibility and blame on the customer's or each other's shoulders and just stick to their job and how each of them can help solve the problems that inevitably come up with a move is what sets these guys apart from most in their industry! And, that's why I would definitely use them again! They can turn a very stressful task into one that is actually pleasant because of their attitude and how serious they take their jobs!

Two very nice young men arrived on time (early actually). They immediately went to work. Had a smile on their face and a nice attitude. Worked hard every minute. Did a very good job in as little time as possible. We were glad to pay them their reasonable rate and tip each young man.

Fantastic! The pleasant 2-man crew were very efficient in every way beginning when their feet hit the ground on time at 8 A.M. and working non-stop 5 hours straight. Their trailer was packed brilliantly with everything fitting all the way to its door. Delivery and set-up of our furnishings were equally as efficient and timely. By the way, their use of a trailer rather than a truck was also brilliant as it is lower to the ground for faster and easier loading/unloading of all the heavy furnishings. We had zero damage/mishaps.100% recommended!

We have moved many times throughout the years but have never had movers like these. We must take the time to commend Doug's Muscle Movers for their outstanding work. The two young men were professional, courteous, accommodating, friendly and most importantly - CAREFUL! No banging or hitting walls or woodwork. No banging furniture or dropping boxes. They were respectful of the label and quot;Fragile.and quot; When the job was done they made sure we were happy with the placement of all items and offered to move things around if we so wished. It was sindeed sa pleasure doing business with this company and we have already referred them to several friends who will be moving in the next few months.

Doug's Hourly Muscle advertises muscle with hustle and that is what they deliver. Two polite gentlemen showed up at my old residence at 10:45 AM. That is when you start paying....when they showed up. These two never stopped. I even offered them some water and they wouldnt take it. They loaded what I was taking to my new residence, then followed me to two different furniture stores to pick up what I had bought and was in hold. They then took everything to my new residence unloaded and put beds together and moved everything where I wanted. Price is 95 for the truck and 95 an hr for their labor. After two hours you pay in 15 min increments of 23.75. They were neat, clean, fast and polite.

They were great. I can't comment too much about the price because we didn't bother to shop around this time. We know they do good work, show up on time, efficient in their moving and did not damage anything. Very professional and courteous.

They were incredible! A perfect 10 team.... I could not believe how fast and efficient they were! Bionic Men! I would and will recommend them to anyone I know! And me again hopefully to move again with the love of my life!!!

They were fantastic and incredibly helpful. We had some unexpected changes in our move at the last minute and they were more than accommodating. I can't say enough about how great they were. We will definitely be calling them again for our next move.

They were great! They showed up when the said they would. Joe and Joe were very nice and were very quick. They completed loading the truck in about 45 minutes, including tying everything down. They did a great job.

They took excellent care of our items. Moving them down the stairs and into their van. They then drove across town and arranged the furniture as we wanted. They never even knicked a wall or hit a door frame. They worked very well together and did not take breaks or waste any time.

I called them on a Friday afternoon needing someone quickly and they were wonderful. They were able to come out within a few hours and didn't charge me an aweful amount due to the short notice. They were all extremely nice and very professional.
