The repair was quoted as $150.00. Little by little he started raising it, claiming he would need parts, etc. By the time he was done on 3/22, he charged $750.00. I was working at our Oldsmar location and the repair was at our Clearwater site. When the repair was completed, I was shocked he charged $750.00, I told him to come by Oldsmar to pick up a check for the contracted price of $250.00 and he would have to deal with my husband, concerning the difference in price. What we didn't know until a day later, was that our Manager had paid him half of the invoiced price, meaning $375.00, with a pre-dated check, until he could get the rest from my husband. When the unit was not working two days later, we contacted Richard right away and he said be will be back the following Monday 3/26th to look at it, repair it again and return the $375.00 check, until we were satisfied with the job. He never came back, and over the weekend he deposited the check through the bank ATM's. The bank didn't catch the fact the check was pre-dated and gave him the funds. All our efforts to contact the man have been in vane, the unit is still not working properly and we will have to pay again to get it fixed. What a scam artist! Stay away from this guy!!! How do you go from $250.00 to $750.00? The invoice didn't even list the parts purchased or details of the job performed. We could have bought a good used unit for that kind of money.
