Response from Bill Livingston Inc
I got non stop calls after the storm. This guy Emailed me through Angie's list. Most of my emails from Angie's list go to my spam. He never followed up with a call. The fastest way to get a response for me is by calling me. I also state in my profile that I don't do Insurance estimates.

Description of Work: Bill Livingston promptly provided a quote and was able to start the job quickly. His guy Dean was an artist, perfectly matching textures to the existing walls. The team helped move some furniture, provided protection for the house and cleaned up perfectly when they finished. They were professional and very pleasant. We are very satisfied and woud be pleased to recommend this company.

I used them once before. His quality of work stands out. He is probably more conscientious about quality than the customer is. He found things that I didn't find. He is very, very quality aware. He did a good job.
Description of Work: I used Bill Livingston Repairs to refinish the walls in the dining room and kitchen that were damaged after removing wallpaper.

Bill promptly returned our initial phone call and came to our house at the scheduled time. He assessed the extent of the repair and gave us an estimate. The next day, he returned, as scheduled, with all supplies and completed the work within the span of several hours. He was neat in his work and cleaned-up after the work was done. We were happy to have found Bill's name on Angie's List when we first began looking for someone who could do plastering. We are very happy with his work and do not hesitate to recommend him to others.
Description of Work: To repair a plumbing leak in our bathroom, plumbers were required (in part) to remove a section of plastered wall. Once the leak was repaired, we contacted Bill Livingston to assess what it would require to repair the wall and how much it would cost. Because the wall was plaster, we anticipated the person would require skill in not only repairing the hole but in also plastering it in such a way as to make the job appear as seamless as possible. Bill, completed this job for the amount of his estimate and did so with an expertise that one might liken to an artist. Aside from being inordinately skilled in his craft, he proved to be a very pleasant man with whom to work.

He went above and beyond. He took a chip that had broken away and matched it directly at home depot and then painted over it for me and did not increase his price. He didn't even charge me for the paint. He came on time and was very courtesy. He brought everything he needed himself.

I would recommend Bill and his workmanship to anyone who needs help. He is extremely fussy about doing a good job and doing the right thing, and he is very pleasant and polite - easy to have him in the house. The drywall job was accomplished to a smoothness where the patch he placed will not show. The popcorn ceiling repair was quite tricky because the ceiling around the old-light-fixture area had been repainted in the past and the difference was very dramatic. He worked carefully with his tools and materials to create a repair which is hardly visible, unless you were actually looking for it. He had been skeptical about his ability to make such a good match, but the end result is so good that his disclaimer just melted away. He was very particular about cleaning up every speck of drywall dust and ensuring that I was satisfied with everything. He arrived right on time, which was important to me. Prior to the day of work, he was very flexible and willing to work with me on my schedule, which was also important to me. I will definitely call Bill the next time I need any drywall or popcorn-ceiling work.
Description of Work: ...repaired drywall which had been cracked open by a clumsy deliveryman. Area was about 1 foot x 2 feet, needing precise patch. ...repaired popcorn ceiling where old 1980's big fluorescent fixture has been replaced by modern pendant lights.

Meticulous, professional and passionate artistry describes the service that Bill delivered. From a day long prep phase where he carefully taped, masked, sanded and feathered, through the two days of texturing, and finalizing with a day long inspection and cleanup, Bill epitomized the ideal that all Florida contractors should be held up to. My past experiences with other contractors had left me hesitant, but Bill lived up to all the accolades he received. In fact, when I asked him to leave the spotted paper on the floor and around a custom wood beam to make my painting easier, you could see the pain on his face that he couldn't complete his work 100%, even though I was more than pleased. His texturing technique was minimalistic, choosing instead to finesse the texture needed instead of simply blowing it up there in order to get the job done. This artistry truly set Bill apart, while his pricing was competitive with other quotes I had received. I will have Bill back for another job in the future.
Description of Work: Bill was contracted to texture a cathedral ceiling (removed of popcorn), a flat ceiling and seven walls in a huge great room. As part of the work, we agreed that he would clean up any defects in the drywall job that was done prior to his arrival.

The ceiling repair and repainting went smoothly although Bill didn't under stand exactly how much of the discolored ceiling I wanted repainted but when he did understand, he rented an extra tall ladder to accommodate what need to be done. When he got to the wall repair, he found that the drywall was not in sound shape and thought a little bit should be cut out. After opening up the wall, he found mold so cut an even larger piece of drywall out to eliminate the new problem and treated the insulation in the wall before putting everything back together. Both the ceiling and the wall look better than ever, I can't tell that there ever was a problem. I would have expected a larger bill than estimated because of the extra work and the ladder rental but Bill stuck by his original estimate and didn't charge me anything more. Bill is an extremely nice person to work with and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing any kind of repair work done.
Description of Work: The ceiling was discolored and the finish was cracked and peeling due to the air conditioning unit in the attic leaking and there was similar damage to a wall where the roof had leaked. The damaged areas were scraped down, repaired and refinished and the ceiling repainted.

Bill was the first contractor I hired for my recent home purchase. I've heard of nightmare stories when it comes to contractors and that is why I chose Angie's List to find one. Bill was a genuinely nice guy and a true professional. He really cared about his work which is sometimes difficult to find in contractors. He covered the walls and floors when removing the popcorn and before applying the knockdown. He arrived on time and worked consistently on my project. When he was finished he did a fantastic job of cleaning everything (Removing coverings, sweeping, vacuuming, and wiping everything down). The new ceiling came out perfect. I was very impressed with his work. Before leaving he repeatedly offered to come back and fix anything which I appreciated. I will definitely hire Bill in the future to remove the popcorn ceiling from my garage.

Bill was amazing!! He came out the same day we called to give us an estimate. We were so comfortable with him that we asked him to start the next day. He not only did the garage ceiling for us but he brought us extra insulation to make sure our garage was as energy efficient as possible. He was so careful to keep things neat and went above and beyond to make sure the work was perfect. He went out of his way (and his estimate) to make sure that the work we had done previous was re-done the right way and flowed seamlessly with what he was doing. He spent an extra day making sure that everything was perfect and cleaning up behind himself. You will not be disappointed if you hire Bill for your project. You can't go wrong with him. Such a great person and does amazing work.

Bill was on time, professional, respectful of our home and pets and meticulous in making sure that the wall looked perfect. He went above and beyond, even taking care of filling in with foam insulation when we noticed a part of the wall that had a gap to the outside, even though it was not part of the original estimate. I already have plans to schedule Bill to come back and remove some popcorn ceilings.

Excellent. Bill came promptly to give an estimate and gave me the Angie's List discount and took a little more off because I removed all the closet shelving myself. He wasn't able to start the job for a week or so, because good people are busy! He and his helper did a wonderful job in taking the ceilings from awful to fabulous. He also did a very thorough clean up job. He takes pride in his work and stands by what he says, a rare find in today's world.

I called Bill late in the afternoon for an estimate. He showed up promptly the next morning. He looked at the problem and explained exactly what he planned to do, which was to remove and replace the drywall ceiling, replace the damaged insulation, and blend in new popcorn with the existing ceiling. His estimate was very fair, and we decided on a date the next week. He showed up promptly at the arranged time, even though his van had broken down, and was in the shop. He arranged for another work vehicle so as not to miss the arranged date. He worked very professionally, isolating his work area with plastic sheeting and flooring material. He didn't hesitate to answer any of my questions during the repair. He did a fantastic job of blending the new popcorn with the existing ceiling. I have had several other popcorn repairs over the years, but none have blended as well as Bill's. He cleaned up completely and disposed of the old material. I will definitely use his services again when needed.

What a pro. Bill studied the job before giving an estimate and when he cited a price it was exact. He was punctual, pleasant and professional. The ceiling and walls had knock-down treatments of different consistencies and Bill matched them perfectly. He cleaned up after the job and left the area looking great. As we told him, we would not hesitate to call on him again or to recommend him. It's to the credit of Angie's List that we were able to hire him, and to Bill's credit that his ratings are so high on Angie's List.

Bill arrived promptly to provide an estimate and for both work days. He works alone and works non-stop. He likes small jobs which was perfect for us. Our walls & ceilings are smooth, which I believe are harder to patch & blend than textured surfaces. We had several holes to be repaired and a very "beat up" bathroom wall from removing old 4 x 4 tiles. There was a significant lump in the wall from the tile and Bill was able to smooth it out. He is very conscientious about minimizing dust and cleaning up after himself. He did a good job. Also, it so happened that he was able to schedule our job within the same week and that really helped us.

Bill was outstanding as a service person! He gave an initial consultation, explained the process, and gave us an estimate. On the day he arrived to work, we were very impressed with how neat and thorough he was. He sealed off areas where he works so as not to compromise the rest of the house. Bill also did a complete clean-up of the areas in which he worked before he left. We are very pleased with the final outcome. We can't discern the difference between the old and the new popcorn he was able to blend the two so well.

He gave us an estimate for a complete popcorn ceiling replacement. We have the old style popcorn ceiling. He gave us a complete breakdown for each room. Thereby he didn't have to do all the work at one time. He was excellent and completed it in a timely manner. We have him on call after the beginning of the year to do some other rooms. He was very accommodating and said that we could split it up and do the rooms, as we wanted.

He is a nice guy. He does his own work and doesn't use sub-contractors. He is okay. He doesn't use the high caulk machine. He uses his own. He cannot afford a commercial size machine so he uses what he can afford, but it does the job. He takes a little longer to do the job. I was satisfied with it. I thought it would be just like the commercial one we got in our bedroom, but it wasn't. It came out just the same after we painted. We ended up having to re-paint our whole living room, dining room, and family room ourselves. We would have ended up paying the same amount as the commercial one we got. It came out just the same. The price was good considering the machine that he had to use. I would hire him in the future.

Bill is a professional, delivering quality work in a responsive manner, and is a real gem! Bill stopped by when I called to look at the job and give me an estimate. I subsequently called to schedule the work for later that week. He is very pleasant and knowledgeable about drywall, spray textures and ceiling textures. He suggested he do the walls the same knockdown or Spanish lace texture as the adjacent bedroom. When he arrived to do the work, he carefully prepped the area, seeking the least intrusive way in and out. He covered all the surfaces ? floor, ceiling edges, doorways and cabinets so that the spray would not damage those areas. When he was done, he wiped down the area so that it was left clean. The walls came out beautiful. I was extremely pleased with the quality of his work. Bill wanted to make sure I was happy with the final result, and said to call him once it dried if I had any concerns.
Description of Work: Bill repaired the drywall in the master bathroom and sprayed texture on those walls and the adjoining foyer. I called Bill to repair the walls after we had the fluorescent lights and surrounding wooden structure removed and new electrical wiring and lights installed, leaving holes and cut out seams in the drywall. I had also removed the wallpaper from all walls, and wanted a spray texture added to the unfinished walls before we painted.

The end result was fantastic and the blended kitchen and family room ceilings are almost seamless. One would have to look very closely to see where the two ceilings have become one. Contrast that with the contractor who did the work of raising the ceilings who put in a can light in the wrong place and plastered over an electrical outlet that he wasn't supposed to and then had to patch them. Bill's work is definitely superior. We have had the contractor out twice to repair these patches and they still look like globs of mud. We will be calling Bill in to fix these for us. We also contracted Bill to finish the job and paint the ceilings for us as he knew we were trying to move in at the end of the month and were running behind. Bill was very neat and clean and protective of our home. He put paper down on the freshly tiled floors and had plastic hanging from the walls to protect them. He worked very well with the other contractors that we had in our home and had to juggle his schedule around them, at times. He is someone that I would highly recommend. In addition, Bill resurfaced walls in two bathrooms and the kitchen dinette area which was previously wall papered with the newer textured wall surface.
Description of Work: Bill was originally contracted to remove popcorn ceilings from our almost 2,000 square foot home that we had just purchased, prior to us moving in and replace them with the newer orange peel finish. Simultaneously, we decided to raise the ceilings in the kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The new raised kitchen ceiling was to be blended into the family room on one side and the entry to the dining room on the other side. We contracted Bill to do this as well.

He got started promptly and worked well with the other contractors I had in the house. And he even took a few days off so as not to complicate other projects that had to go forward!
Description of Work: Bill removed all the UGLY 1990s popcorn texture on my ceilings. The house had vaulted ceilings and what equipment he did not have to do the job safely (scaffolding), he promptly rented. He did a very neat job and great clean-up for a very messy job!
