I asked a company called Alamar Aluminum Systems to provide me an estimate to add a new outside Florida Room. After the company asked me for a down payment of $2500.00 (which I gave them, cancelled check signed by Alamar) they showed up approx. 2 weeks later, after I had the new cement deck poured. They began installing the new profab roof and screen enclosure. Including the installation of 2 new ceiling fans. On 8/4/2012 I was asked to pay the remaining balance of $2600.00. I was hesitant to pay a contractor for incompleted work but the 2 owners assured they would complete the remaining work in the next few days, so I made the mistake of paying them with 2 credit cards, Discover & Bank Of America. I informed the BBB of this situation and they made an initial investigation to Alamar Aluminum Systems asking for there response to my complaint. Alamar Aluminum Systems response to the BBB was they had no idea who I was. I then provided documentation to the BBB which showed the cancelled and endorsed $2500.00 downpayment to Alamar, signed and endorsed by one Alan Smith, co-owner of Alamar. I then provided the BBB and Discover & Bank Of America credit cards statements where Alamar charged each credit card $1300.00. on 8/4/2012. The credit card companies are in process of reverting those charges thru legal channels. After paying this contractor (Alamar Aluminum Systems) on 8/4/2012 they never returned my calls and have not returned my calls. Thus far it has cost me $750.00 to a reputable roofing company to have to roof properly sealed to the new roof and the existing roof.
Description of Work: Contractor provided a screened in room with a 3" Profab roof approx 12'x30'. The contractor did NOT seal the newly installed roof to the existing roof, therefore causing numerous leaks. Also, the contractor never finished electrical hook-ups as agreed.

Response from Alamar Aluminum Systems Inc
This client called for service. He was contacted by cellphone, 3 times ,faxed twice, and e-mailed two times with on response to my partner. When I was sent this letter form your company I personally called him 3 times. On the 3rd attempt we made a connection. After speaking with Anthony for one hour on the phone, I have determined that my partner and him were friends. This friendship has fallen apart not due to this job, personal difference. He is using this job to vent his anger. Since doing part one of this person’s job my partner told the member he did not want to do the other half. After this conversation, everything went south. He wanted one window done at a time which Alan refused. He wanted to install a leaf blocker on the new gutter in which I told him would cause leaks. He refused to remove the guard and subsequently incurred leaks. Our company has installed over five-hundred 3 inch insulated roofs. In that time, we have never installed a leaf guard. I told the member that this would cause a leaks and it needed to be removed. He insisted, the guards’ remain, he had leaks. In my opinion he needed to remove the leaf blockers. The water is running through the fan bar located inside the insulated roof and leaking into the soffits. He never talked to my partner or myself. He took it upon himself to call someone else. The other company according to the member pulled up shingles and re-tared the roof and installed new shingles. Our job is mounted off the facia away from the roof. Any roof repairs are the customers concerns. As a contractor I would never lift the shingles off any roof to make repairs. This is very dangerous and can cause major roof problems. We have never repaired any roof in the five hundred or so insulated roof we have installed. It is amazing that he will go away for $750.00 dollars. He will not let me on the property to inspect the repairs and I feel after speaking with him for an hour that he got the estimate and did it himself. He told me that his attorney said not to let me on the property. In addition my partner installed a couple of fans and a motion light for this man. I EXPLAINED IN FRONT OF FOUR PEOPLE PLUS THE MEMBER, that my company does not do electric at all. If he wanted this done than as his friend Alan would do this and that ALAMAR Aluminum has nothing to do with hanging fans. I again told him that this is not part of any contract or continent on the sale or installation of this project. I was concerned that if the installation was not done by a professional there would be problems. Well problems occurred and this is what is wrong. I will not pay this person any money. My company will extend the warranty that came with the contract. No more no less.
