We obtained two quotes for the job. Pioneer was about half the other quote. We therefore chose Pioneer and came south from Massachusetts to have these shutters installed in mid-May 2010. We drove south early May to be sure to hit the mid-May scheduling window. We had some difficulty with Pioneer meeting that promised target, and wound up spending a month in Florida to have the work done at the end of May. When we finally agreed on a day, the installers arrived late, stating that one of the shutters was manufactured to the incorrect dimensions. Nonetheless, the work was completed by the next day. The installation appears to be basically sound, although one lock was installed on the wrong side of our front door shutter (the lock was installed so that the shutter had to be locked from the inside, on a door that opens outward). It was easy for me to re-drill the shutter and reverse the lock, but I thought this to represent sloppy workmanship. This later issue notwithstanding, I thought the product was well made, and the shutters operate smoothly. I hope we never have the opportunity to learn how well the product performs. My real heartburn is related to service after the sale. Early this year we decided to have ceramic tile installed on the concrete lanai, outside the sliding glass door. The tile installer recommended that we have the twelve-foot shutter removed and reinstalled over the new tile, to avoid water accumulation in the shutter track, and to provide for a professional looking installation. Since we live in Jupiter, it was convenient for me to drop into the shop at Pioneer, and to request of the very courteous lady in the office that someone contact me to arrange this service. I made it clear that I was willing to pay the going labor rate for the work. The nice lady checked the records of my original installation, and indicated that someone would contact me. After a week when I didn't hear back I called, and was assured that someone would be in contact with me soon. After another week with no call, I contacted the office a third time, and was assured that a message would be placed directly on the owner's desk. That was two months ago, and I still haven't heard from Pioneer. To get the tile work done, I finally removed and reinstalled the shutters myself. I really didn't want to do that, as I have a bad back, but needs must. As an established customer, I felt that the failure of Pioneer to return my message represented a highly unprofessional business practice. So, in summary, I will rate the price and product an "A", the installation a "C", and the customer service an "F".

I asked for a price. He was way overpriced. I said I?d think about it and to give me a call back about the windows, but he never called me back.
