Description of Work: Very disappointed that a $49 dollar deal turned into almost $200. I was not even having a problem but couldn't pass up the special. My fault for not reading the complete deal such as additional $95 an hour for labor, plus parts, etc. Learned a lesson the expensive way. Always read the small print! At least I saved a $7.00 tax charge by paying person to person check.

+ -1 moreGreen Home arrived at my house on time and checked the dryer duct and hose. He told me that the clogged pipe was the worst he had seen in four years of doing this service. He replaced the lower portion of the hose, which was not up to code, and attached a flange to the back of the dryer to keep the hose from crimping. He removed a lot of lint in the hose and when he went into the attic he found that the hose had become disconnected and that there was lint all over the place. He spent several hours in our very hot attic and reconnected the hose and re-taped all joints. It used to take at least an hour for a laundry load to dry, but now it's dry in half an hour. I feel that we had a pretty good chance of having a fire if we had not addressed this situation when we did.
Description of Work: Cleaned the dryer hose, reattached section, re-taped joints, replaced substandard section of pipe, attached flange to keep hose from crimping.

Although I was lead to believe previously that my dryer vent was cleaned, the fact of the matter is that all of this time a fire hazard was just lurking in the dryer exhaust system due to the incompetence and lack of care from the previous workers. Step by step, as each challenge appeared, Greg Clarke immediately knew what to do to overcome it. He is an inspiration for all to follow that every problem has a correct solution. I am thoroughly satisfied with the amount of money that was spent. Thankfully, now I have peace of mind that my dryer exhaust system is truly safe, and my home is safe as well. This peace of mind is priceless. Thanks to Angie's List I know whom to call for my next vent dryer cleaning. Thanks to Greg Clarke the dryer exhaust system is working beautifully, and the problems that existed before are now a thing of the past. Kudos and many thanks to Greg Clarke.
Description of Work: Greg Clark of Green Home Dryer Vent Cleaning did a phenomenal job. In fact there are no words adequate enough to describe his expertise, his sense of integrity, and his work ethic, Previously, I did have workers come to my home every two years to clean out my dryer vent. Unfortunately, they "played at" doing the job correctly. As a result there were voluminous amounts of debris which were left behind in the vent in addition to that which accumulated over time. Although I did not know the extent of the lint and debris build-up, for approxcimately two days I had felt uncomfortable about using my dryer. Therefore I contacted Angie's List and Geen home Dryer Vent Cleaning was highly recommended. Greg Clarke worked tirelessly for four excruciating hours .First, he inspected the dryer exhaust system. Greg. Clarke discovered that he had to: #1. correct the incorrect installations (which was a task fit for Hercules) He removed a huge amount of ductwork that was far below standard and replaced it with the proper materials that are up to code. # 2. He had to power out thoroughly all of the debris--both ancient and accumulated after the so-called prior "cleanings". At the end of this enormous job Greg Clarke installed a lint alert device. After the massive work that was done in the system, the lint alert showed that the vent system is "as clean as a whistle". It was mind-boggling to see the amount of work that had to be done for what I had initially thought was to have been a routine dryer vent cleaning. Additionally, Greg Clarke meticulously cleaned up the debris from this job. To say the least, this was a huge plus. Thankfully, Greg Clarke did a masterful, spectacular job.

After seeing what he pulled out of the vent system, it surely is worth the price to know we are now safe from a fire. I had vents cleaned several years back, but now I know I will be calling Greg as soon as my newly installed lent sensor indicates the need. Thanks, Greg!
Description of Work: Dryer vent inspection special for $49.00 Dryer and all venting were cleaned. Greg inspected roof vent, discovering it was clogged and had two screens preventing airflow. He removed screens. Future project will be for roofer to install new dryer jack with damper. Greg also installed a lint alert dryer safety alarm, which will indicate when flow is reaching danger levels.

+ 0 moreMr. Greg Clark was very professional and thourough. He cleaned the vent from behind the dryer, and also went up on the roof to clean it from that exit point. It hadn't been cleaned in some time so a lot of junk had accumulated. He spent over two hours, and replaced the dryer hose as well. He charged a little over $300 which seemed a little high, but then I didn't get any other bids so I don't really know. I was satisfied with his services. He forgot to level the dryer after he finished, and I called him back explaining that, and he came back and completed that task to my satisfaction. I'd use him again and recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Had heating element replaced in my dryer and was told to get vent cleaned. Greg Clark of Green Home Dryer Vent Cleaning was recommended. Called Green Home and Mr. Clark came when scheduled. Gave an estimate and I accepted. Don't know if the price was high or low because I didn't get any other bids.

+ -1 moreCalled Greg when I was at work as he was just finishing another job, was willing to meet me same day. Greg beat me home from work and got started right away, very clean and professional. Very knowledgable and explained each process. I was impressed by his flexibility with coming out so quick for me, now I have no more worries about fires and I'm sure he has added some years to my dryers life by fixing home depot's mistake.
Description of Work: Cleaned vent and replaced the duct work that home depot had installed and crushed with crush proof elbows and dryer flex.

+ -1 moreHe was really really nice on the phone. I called him on Wednesday and he showed up on Thursday. He's very accommodating. He called afterwards just to follow up to make sure the dryer was working properly. I already told my friend about him.
Description of Work: They came and pulled the dryer out and changed the silver tubing and cleaned the whole vent to the dryer. He cleaned everything very well. He also installed a lent alarm system.

+ -1 moreWhen I spoke with Greg this afternoon, I was lucky to have found him between jobs. He came right to my home to work on my dryer. He arrived when he said he would. He was very kind and very professional. He went directly to the laundry room and started work. Talked me through everything and made suggestions. He explained each part of the job as he performed it. Before leaving, he cleaned the floor and dryer.
Description of Work: Greg cleaned our 45ft dryer vent, removing lint, a small lump of paper and lint blocking the vent exit flap on the roof. He replaced the dryer hose and claps.

+ -1 moreEverything went smoothly. Greg arrived on time & worked quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: Dryer wasn't working properly - took too long for anything to dry. Called dryer repairman and he told me dryer was ok, but I needed the ducts cleaned. Had the day off work, so really wanted someone to do the job today. Checked Angie's List and found Greg. He was here within 2 hours. Greg checked the roof and removed the screen on the duct which was installed by the last duct cleaning service. There was a lot of lint on the screen. Then he came inside and cleaned the ducts using a brush with extension rods and a vacuum cleaner. He also cleaned vents on both back and front of dryer. Greg replaced the hose and clamps from the dryer to the wall. He cleaned all the lint under both the washer and dryer.

+ -1 moreI was having trouble getting my clothes to dry. It had got to the point where I ran a load of clothes through the normal dry cycle 4 times and they still weren't getting dry. Additionally, condensation was showing up in the display window. I intially called an dryer repair service and wasted $75 on a service call for them to tell me that my vents needed to be cleaned. I called Green Homes after finding them on Angie's List and made an appt for them to come that same afternoon. Greg showed up two hrs earlier than scheduled (he called to make sure it was ok) and immediately got to work. He took the front cover of the dryer off and showed me how badly the lint had accumulated around heating element and the electrical panel. He also showed me how to get to the lint that gets past the lint filter. He then pulled the dryer away from the wall where we discovered that the hose that was initially installed with the the dryer was too long and the wrong type. It had accumulated over 3/4 of a bucket full of smelly liquid and lint. I hadn't had the vents clean since 2007 and it was done by a service contract company. He also cleaned the pipe in the wall as well as the roof vent. My dryer's working great now and I feel a lot better knowing that the fire hazard risk has be eliminated. I will definitely be using Green Home again.
Description of Work: Greg cleaned the lint build-up from the front of the dryer, replaced the hose and clamp in the back that was installed incorrectly, cleaned the pipe going to the roof as well as the vent on the roof and installed a dryer safety alarm.

+ -1 moreMy parents helped me find Greg, on Angies List. I had never had my Dryer vents cleaned before and have been living in my house for 4 years. I called and spoke with Greg, who was able to come out right away. I could not believe how much lint was trapped causing my machine to work harder to dry everything. He was very thorough and opened up my dryer to clean inside and around the wires and heat element as well. Couln't believe when he showed me how much lint was sitting inside the heat element-- which could easily cause a fire. This service should be done once a year, and Greg keeps a list of his customers to contact them in the future. I spent a bit more for a lint alarm. This way, if anything gets stuck or clogged in the vent, it will light up and eventurally beep while the dryer is on to signal me that there is a problem. Peace of mind!!! If you have never had this done, do it. It could be dangerous not to. Greg was super nice and very professional. He spend over 3 hours fully cleaning out everything. My Dryer is running more efficiently now, getting items to dry faster. Thanks, Greg!!

Description of Work: Greg Clark showed up on time and cleaned out the main vent which was 100% clogged throughout. He got on the roof and refabricated the roof jack to flow better as the damper was partically closed. He replace the dryer duct using crushproof pipe. He also installed a Lint Alert monitor so that I will know when the vent needs to be cleaned again.

+ -1 moreGreg returned my phone call to him on Thursday, June 7, 2012 and as arranged, arrived on time, on Friday, June 8, 2012. Upon assessing the situation as to the dryer venting he set about unblocking and cleaning the vent to the outdoors and the lint residue in the dryer itself. He demonstrated how the current duct attachments were not up to code and therefore not safe or efficient for the dryer requirements and at each step of the work he showed me how the proper installation would guarantee a safe and effective use of the appliance. Greg further advised that I be aware of the proper duct work connections needed to be done by any installation, if and when the dryer was replaced in the future. His work took approximately 2 1/2 hours of time and he was neat and respectful of my home and cleaned up after he completed his work. He was professional and courteous. I would highly recommend his services.
Description of Work: Our dryer had been drying clothes less efficiently than normal and I noted an excess of lint in and around the vent opening behind the machine. No vent cleaning had been done in many years. Greg Clark, of Green Home Dryer Vent Cleaning, cleaned out the blocked vent with his commercial vacuum and brush tools, verifying that air was now coming in through the vent. He then changed the collar on the duct to the outdoors and changed the pipe/duct section from the dryer to the vent with a fireproof "up to code" model of flexible pipe, which was not evident in the previous work, and which had, in fact, only been taped to the outside. After completing the installation he ran the dryer and clarified the temperature of the dryer was within acceptable heat levels.

+ -1 moreGreg returned my call within 30 minutes. We talked for about 20 minutes discussing the set-up of my dryer vent system, roof vents, etc. and arranged to have the work done the next day. Greg inspected the dryer venting through the attic, and also climbed onto the roof to clear debris lodged in the roof vent/hood. It's amazing the amount of stuff that came out of the vents considering (1) they had been cleaned less than nine months ago, and (2) the size of my household. He also found dried spray foam partially blocking the roof vent that has probably been there for quite some time, perhaps since the house was built. I am so happy that I found someone whom I can trust to do the work the way they would do it at their own home. I'd give Greg an A+ if the grading scale allowed.
Description of Work: Greg inspected and cleaned the dryer vent from the dryer through to the roof vent and replaced the hose from the dryer to the wall. The price also included a new roof vent (which I will have roofers install) and a lint alert attached to the vent hose from the dryer. The cleaning was VERY thorough.

+ -1 moreI called Greg Clark at about 10:30 AM and he arrived at about 12 noon. After checking the entire vent system, he gave an estimate which I accepted. He finished the entire work project at about 2:30 PM and the dryer is working well on one cycle rather than the previously necessary two cycles. A great savings in both time and electricity costs. Anyone have a similar problem with their dryer should call Greg.
Description of Work: Greg Clark checked for and eliminated lint throughout the vent system including a big clog at the roof vent. Replaced the roof vent as well as the vent behind the dryer. Cleaned all work areas upon completion.
