They pressure washed our house prior to painting and then proceeded to pressure wash our walkway, driveway, and sidewalk!! Who does that without addtional pay. He came right away and painted on the weekend after I interrupted his golf game. He did a good job. I didn't have much interaction but he did the job and he was professional.

I emailed Sean Downs from Angie's List on Wednesday evening to request an estimate for painting the exterior of my house. Sean called me promply on Thursday morning, arrived right on time to do the walk-through for the quote that afternoon and emailed me the estimate by the next morning. We agreed on what was to be accomplished, the price and a start date. The price Sean originally quoted me was very good, but he also gave me a 10% discount for being an Angie's List member and offered another 10% off if I scheduled the job the following week just prior to Christmas when Sean had a few days open up. It only gave me a few days to select paint colors but I considered the discount worthwhile so I chose that option. All the paint was included in the quoted cost and Sean picked up the paint. Sean started the job on Tuesday. Each day he arrived on time and ready to begin the job. Everything progressed according to schedule other than when the job was delayed a day and a half due to weather, but as soon as it dried up, Sean was back on the job. Sean cleaned up the job site at the end of each day's work. He was always polite. Sean was careful not to damage my meger foundation plantings while pressure washing the house and while painting. I really appreciated that. Sean called back a week or so after the job was done to make sure that I was still happy with the work. I originally called Sean for an estimate because of his great ratings on Angie's List. I would definitely call Sean for any other painting job. I am very happy with his work. My house looks great.

They were good, they were in the price range we were looking for.

Shaun is a busy dude, and so he's not always available. We liked the quality of his work, his professionalism, and his attitude, which is why he's in demand as a painter. We recommend Shaun. He's careful, nice, and professional and we will be using him again for future projects. His popcorning is really good, he does what he says he's going to do for the price he says he's going to do it, he even helps pick out the paint and goes to get it. He pitches in wherever is needed (including getting us new house numbers to replace the old ones that had been painted over about a hundred times). He is friendly and caring. The guy he works with sometimes, Steve, is really nice and a talented professional as well.

Was very professional with estimates and explanation of service. Came when he was scheduled to start. Continued to be prompt in his arrival. Was neat and organized with his supplies. Did an excellent job.

Sean and his team are truly amazing. Sean was very professional and emailed the estimate for completely repainting my pool patio within a day of coming out to look at the project. He started the job on time and did an outstanding job. The weather was a challenge and his crew worked around the chance of rain to insure that the final product was applied and able to dry in the optimal conditions. The pool coping on my kidney shaped pool came out spectacular and all the cracks in the concrete vanished after he expertly sealed them and painted over the patches. I highly recommend Sean and his crew for your outdoor painting needs. I am already planning to have him come back soon to paint the outside of my concrete block house.

My experience with the painter was wonderful. He was on time and very conscientious and didn’t rush the job. He provided the paint and everything.

Got Sean thru Angies List , all went smooth as for the information price and on time performance along with his quality work . I found both him and Dave to be at the utmost professional level and would for sure use his service again.

First off I want to say that Sean is a nice guy and personable, but there is where the compliments stop. He lacks business ethics and professionalism. I contacted Sean Downs because of Angies List and they did a few things that as a business owner myself I find totally unacceptable and would never do to a customer. #1 We had a firm quote to paint the interior of the house, the ceilings, trim, walls, etc. We did a walk through before the quote and I laid out what to be painted etc. Sean replied with a quote and I asked if we added the cabinets how much more providing I supply the paint. We agreed on a price and I asked Sean if he would come do a final walk through before starting the job and go over the job again and colors he declined as he "was too busy". So off we go. They start out great but only a few days into it and I am hit up for additional expenses because he planned on painting the cabinets with a primer and two coats of paint not using the Rust O leum restore kit which is basically the same thing but requires a clear coat in the end. So I get this long story of how important dry times are between coats etc and how much more work it is, it it will take a 3-4 day process to apply coating. So up our price goes. Also he did not figure in the ceilings in the quote and they are requiring 2 coats instead of the 1 he was planning on putting so again our price goes up. #2 Multiple times I get a last minute phone call of "we need paint", the reason I hired someone is because I am extremely busy therefore a little planning ahead would be great not hey can you go get some paint and when can you be here. It got to the point were I was trying to think ahead for them to either have the area prepped or have the paint there as the communication just isn't there. #3 In our line of work we get paid when we are finished even on a two to three week project except for a minimal deposit to secure the job to start with. Be prepared to write a hefty deposit check and be hit up weekly for additional money. DO NOT PAY THEM UNTIL YOU FEEL SATISFIED. On the last day of the job I wrote a check before they were done and came home to running paint down the walls. Literally they were runs all over one room at different spots. And they were pieces of debris in our rear doors from the pressure washing they did looked like pieces / chips of concrete embedded in brand new paint. #3 Another issue I had was on a cabinet they were going to refinish and in the beginning he said "he would take care of". It never got sanded down so you could see the damaged grain and instead of sanding it down or applying a filler he just painted over which enhances how bad it looks. My neighbor even came over during their painting and asked about the damaged area and Sean's response was "I am so far behind I can't fix that.' I didn't hear it but that is what my neighbor told me. I called Sean and he agreed to fix the things I mentioned like the items above plus some paint being on the floor in various areas, areas of the cabinet doors being missed, etc. He did come back out but he again attempted to cut corners when he refinished the top instead of all that dry time that was important before he completed the refinishing with all the coats of paint in about 5 hours instead of 4 days. So I called him and asked how is that even possible and he assured me it is ok and told me that I need to understand it is a 45 min drive one way for him to come to my job. Now that same finish is coming off in the area were he said it will be ok so I am going to pay another painter to refinish something he should have done right the first time or at least the second time. To sum it all up Sean is a great painter when he wants to be. His guys are ok painters but lack attention to detail and Sean isn't on the job enough to get the attention to detail stuff done right and when push comes to shove Sean will cut a corner to save a buck so if that is the painter you want then that is the painter you will get. Also don't expect your quote to stay the same price mine increased over 25% from the original quote for the original work. Our entire project went over budget by 54% but this was after I added a few other items and Sean's "expenses" went up. I am abitter over the entire experience and I am sure that has altered my review however everything stated is factual and not embellished.

Sean was very prompt to respond to our initial call and we are very pleased with the work he did. He was professional and personable and willing to work with us on our schedule.

The only thing that we were displeased with, was that Sean wasn't able to start when he said that he would due to other commitments. Then when he did start he wasn't able to put in full days to get the job done. This made the job take about 2 weeks instead of 4 or 5 days, as originally stated at the time of assigning the contract. On the 2nd week he and a co-worker were able to stay and work all day on Wednesday and Thursday. The job then was completed to our satisfaction. I guess Christmas time isn't a great time to have your house painted, everybody wants things done for a certain time frame and Sean tried to please everyone. If I had of know he was so busy, we would have waited until after Christmas. The job was well worth waiting for, as everything looks very nice.

The thing I liked most about them was that they were extremely attentive to detail. Everything had to be perfect. They worked with us. We could not decide on the colours. They were very patient about us getting the colors. They were always focused on us being satisfied. They never got desperate or anything. I would absolutely use their services again in the future.

I called Sean on the phone and had an estimate appointment set for the next day. He was going out of town for a week, but that gave me time to decide what colors I wanted to use. During the week, I decided I wanted more work done than was originally estimated. I called Sean and he met me the same day to provide a revised estimate. I agreed and he started work the following Monday. His normal helper was out, leaving him short staffed, but he arrived at my home each day between 7-8 a.m. and worked hard until 2-3 p.m. It also rained sporadically throughout the week, but he stayed on it and continued his daily progress. He received help on the final day and made sure I was completely satisfied with the finished job before leaving. Throughout my entire dealing with Sean, he was considerate, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and offered expert advice to ensure I was comfortable with the direction and scope of the project. He went beyond the call of duty by pressure washing my sidewalk (which I didn't order or pay for) and repainting my screen and front door (for free) when the original color I chose didn't turn out visually appealing with the body/trim colors used. Sean's motto is, "You have to live here, so I want to make sure you're happy with everything." And I am! His work is thorough, detailed, and checked multiple times to ensure nothing is missed. Before wrapping up the job, he inspected every inch of the painted surfaces to make sure they were perfect. He also asked his helper and me to do the same stating, "The more eyes, the better." I nit-picked here and there (we're talking a few tiny specks were a roller didn't reach into the deepest depths of the stucco, etc.) and was pleasantly surprised to see Sean never ran out of patience. Again, my satisfaction was his top priority. He didn't make excuses or make me feel I was being too demanding. Instead, he picked up his brush and put more paint wherever I asked until I stopped asking. Thank you, Sean! I love the new look of my house and have received numerous compliments from my neighbors. In closing, I would definitely hire Sean again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a licensed/insured painter. You won't be disappointed.

I requested three estimates from contractors on Angie's List. One contractor bowed out because the job was too big - we have a two-story house - and the other contractor was almost double in price. After deciding on Sean, he showed up when promised to start pressure washing the house. He let it dry for a couple of days and then came back to apply the masonry sealer. He and a crew showed up the very next day and started prepping the house with caulking the windows, house cracks, trim and start painting the house. He was meticulous in his preparation and paint application. Oh yeah, he helped my wife and I decide on a color for the house. While we went back and forth on the color, which was over a couple of days, he never pressed us and made us feel bad. He got some paint samples of colors we liked and applied to them to the house. Once we saw them on the house, we knew what they were going to really look like and chose one accordingly. Those color wheel swatches don't do justice to the actual color. He did such a fantastic job, I requested an estimate the paint our pool deck and interior foyer. I highly recommend Sean Downs Painting without any reservations.

Sean and his assistants did an amazing job painting our house. Sean helped me pick out colors, when I was unsure which way to go. He spent a lot of time helping me, and was very patient while I was deciding. His suggestions were 'right on' . Everyone who has seen the house loves the color combinations. . He was very professional, meticulous in his work. Having the entire house painted is disruptive to say the least; but Sean would put my house back together as best he could at the end of each day. He made it very stress free. He was absolutly great to work with. When it comes time to paint the exterior of the house Sean will be the painter we call.

Sean Downs came in to give us a quote for painting the exterior of our home after our "go to" painter had a scheduling conflict that put him out a few months before he could do the job. Sean had some availability in a few weeks, so we decided to give him a shot at quoting the job. His quote came in at almost the exact amount of that of our painter (whom we have used for over 10 years and feel always gave us fair to great pricing). This already gave me confidence that Sean was not out to earn a quick buck. His professional attitude and the way he was up front with the methods and material options and how these would affect pricing really made me feel good about giving him a shot at the job. We accepted the bid and scheduled the work. Sean worked as a two man team and they were very thorough and detailed. I appreciated the extra effort that went into making sure that the outcome would be the best. He always involved me in any decisions, providing his professional opinion, but ultimately allowing us to make the call from a personal taste point of view. Sean completed the work in the amount of time he had estimated, we were delayed one day because of rain, but he came in on the weekend and worked a full extra day to make this up and to make sure that the work was completed to our satisfaction. He even used some of his own materials that were not part of the original estimate to stain a section of the concrete walkway that led up to the front door. Sean was also very reasonable when I asked if there was something we could do to the gutters and down spouts that looked pretty bad next to the nice new paint. He added a very reasonable time and material charge (opting to purchase a paint that was better suited for metal) and we proceeded with that. The results look great. I can't help but think that someone who is less concerned about quality would have slapped on whatever white coat they had in the truck and called it a day, but that was not the case here. By far what impressed me the most is how he handled a problem we had with the ceiling on our covered back patio. The original paint was applied very thin and while you could not see this before painting it, it was immediately noticeable once he started rolling on the primer. The original paint would peel off onto the roller and fall off. Upon seeing this I told Sean that if he needed to re-quote this part of the job and add time/material for this unforeseen issue that I would understand. He did not accept my offer however and proceeded to scrape off the whole ceiling and re-do the prep work to make sure that the paint had a good base to adhere to. The result were perfect. In summary, there was nothing negative about the whole experience and I would highly recommend Sean for any type of paint job. As meticulous as he was with his exterior work, I'm sure that the results would have been the same if it was interior work. I will definitely use Sean again for any paint related projects.
