BEWARE!! NOT RECOMMENDED. UNPROFESSIONAL. POOR JOB DONE. BROKE MY SPRINKLER PVC AND NEVER FIXED IT I live in Sandy Pines Preserve in northeast Palm Bay and hired Damien from Palm Bay Tree (and another worker) who came to my house on a Friday right before Labor Day weekend this year 2021 to remove a palm tree in my front yard. They pulled it right out of the ground, but broke a sprinkler pvc pipe near it. I had it fixed by a local sprinkler company that weekend for $225 (holiday weekend rates!). Damien or his company NEVER offered to compensate me or repair the damage and left me high and dry! I called Damien back several times, got a hold via text, and offered an exchange for compensation—to lay down some sod where the old tree had been. This would have been an easy way for him to cover the damage, but he never returned my calls afterward and I still have not heard from that company and it is December right now. WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN….BEWARE!!

The tree trimming went beautifully. The crew cut the trees, removed debris and cleaned up the yard nicely. However, while trimming one of the trees, a rogue branch broke one of the windows in my garage. I paid the owner for the work (which I should not have done) and he took my broken window to have it repaired. Now, as of the writing of this review nearly two months later, they have returned the window frame but the window itself is still broken (there are special slider tracks that help the window open and close that have not been reinstalled) and they have not returned my window screen, as it was damaged also. I have called the owner nearly half a dozen times in an attempt to have this repaired and I keep getting the runaround. They did a beautiful job with the trees but if they damage anything on your house or in your yard, be sure it's fixed to your satisfaction prior to paying them. I now wish I hadn't trusted them so much as I'm still calling to get it fixed. I hope to amend this rating once I get everything put back together.
Description of Work: Mike and his crew did a major overhaul of a large oak tree in my front yard, plus trimming of three additional oak trees, six palm trees, a large overgrown bush in the front yard plus removed a ficus tree that had overgrown its pot.

The contractor was contacted by my son and an appointment was made for him to give us a bid for the work. He arrived at the home on Saturday afternoon and we talked about the job. He was asked to make three cuts on the oak tree to remove limbs that were hanging over or touching the home. We both touched and agreed on the limbs that were to be removed. He asked about the palm tree and was told that it needed to be trimmed as well. He left a bid on his card, stating that he did not give written bids to small home jobs- only big estate jobs. My son contacted him and talked to him about the bid and the job requirements being only three branches cut at the base of the tree to get them away from the house, and trim the palm. The contractor told him that he could do the job on Tuesday as he had another big job in the area. He was asked to call me (the occupant) when he was on his way to the home so I could be there when the service was being performed. He did not call me so I left work three hours early thinking that I would be there for the job. When I arrived at the house, the tree was a mere fraction of what it had been that morning. I immediately called my son and sent him photos. I count more than 80 cuts on the tree. More than half of a lovely shade tree was taken away. The palm was the only thing that was done as agreed. He also went into the back yard and took it upon himself, without speaking to my son (the homeowner) or myself, to trim up the young tree in the back yard- another shade tree trimmed to the point of being ornamental. The contractor also raised the bid by $50 due to the extra work he did on the tree in the back yard. My son tried to reach him but had to leave a message. He called the contractor's office and was told that the price was now $400- the secretary wouldn't answer any questions, just kept repeating the contract price.
Description of Work: The contractor came to the home on Saturday (June 9) and we both touched the three limbs that needed to come off the oak tree in the front yard. I pointed to other trees in the neighborhood and said that we don't want them to look like that- too much taken from the tree. We also talked about trimming the palm tree. He asked about the back yard and I told him that there was a young tree but it did not need attention- no need to go back there, the contract was for the front yard. He gave a bid and the homeowner (my son) contacted him to firm up the agreement. After agreeing on the bid ($350) he was scheduled for the followingTuesday. He was asked to call me when he was on his way to do the job, which would have allowed me to leave work and be there during the service. He was hired to make three cuts on the oak tree and trim the palm. He made more than 80 cuts on the oak tree alone- taking away far more than half of the tree. It looks like a bunch of celery. The palm tree looked as expected. He also went into the back yard and decided to trim up the young oak because it had spanish moss hanging from it. We knew about the moss and it was going to be removed with a rake- not by cutting the tree. It was short enough that we could handle what was needed. He did not asked the homeowner (my son) or myself if he could touch the tree in the back yard. It now looks ornamental instead of like a shade tree.

It was a good experience. The owner's name is Michael Minick. I had a problem with a tree, and it had a big limb that looked like it was falling or going to fall. I called them at noon, and by 4 o' clock in the afternoon, they had that limb cut off and were gone. They cleaned up the mess and hauled it out of here. That is my experience with them. I called them, and four hours later, my problem was solved. That is pretty good service. It was a pretty good-sized limb and was hanging over my house on the patio roof. I thought that the price was a decent price. I don't think it was cheap but it was a decent price. The price was good, but not great. The owner came to see me, and the two guys that did the work, just went out to work and got it done. What I asked for was done, and it was done right. It was fine.

The service was very good- they came out when they said they would and did a wonderful job at a reasonable price. The chopped down a lot of Brazilian peppers, which are very invasive. We had a lot of peppers on the side of the yard and they cleared that away. They trimmed between 12 and 15 of our palm trees and did a very good job.

When the man called me back with the estimate after he had looked at the tree, he was very unprofessional. He actually called other competitors idiots for not trimming the tree properly. His price was WAY over other competitor's bids. The tree service I chose had an arborist and they were over $100 dollars less.

This is the second time I have used them. In both cases Mike has given me an estimate within a day or two of me calling him. Once I accepted the estimates his crew was on site within two days. The work went smoothly and the crew cleans up everything. They also did a couple of extra items such as cutting a tree root that was about to go under the concrete in my driveway. I will continue to use this company for an future tree service work.
