Overall I am very pleased, even though they were referred by a friend, I am always skeptical. The office & feild staff were more professional than I expected, as I have dealt with some contractors previously who were far from professional. I would definately use this company again and will refer them to anyone I know.

The technician did a first class job. We have been using American Air and Heat for more than 20 years and have always been pleased with the quality of the work, customer service and purchased equipment.

They're very good and honest. They ususally go above and beyond without charging. They are very nice, and if you have a problem you can call and talk to the service people. They'll answer your questions. There have been a couple of times that the issue was something I could handle myself, they let me know how to do it so they wouldn't have to charge me to send someone out.

Rather than an honest quote, what I got was an award-worthy performance about how my existing gas furnace closet wasn?t up to code and bringing it up to code would require a huge effort that included cutting a hole in the roof, etc. He used the line ?I can?t believe the other guys didn?t catch this,? and went on (and on) about how I should believe him over my competitors because he is so much more educated ? they are all installers and he is so much more. I knew my existing set-up wasn?t up to code, but I had also been provided several other quotes that included easy ways to bring it into compliance. The solution John offered was to replace my gas furnace with electric and hire an electrician in to re-wire everything, which I made it clear I did not want to do. He then tried to tell me my duct work was too small. When I walked away from that conversation, he re-calculated and, surprise!, my existing ductwork would be just fine. After verifying the "rediculous-ness" of his story with my colleagues in the construction industry, I chose a more honest contractor.

They do good work and they have good service people. They cleaned up and they were prompt.

I had used American Air and Heat for years for service on our AC unit. One day I was in the garage when I saw a flash and the breaker tripped on the AC. This happened a couple of times then I called American Air for service. The Tech could not find anything wrong so he left. The next morning the unit did the same thing so I called American Air to check it out again. The Tech found the problem, it was a direct short from the power supply coming into the air handler with no grommet. It was installed by American Air and they failed to put a grommet where the power entered the handler. This is not to code and took about 6 years to rub through the wire insulation and then started shorting out. The Tech said whoever installed the unit did not do it correctly. I told him to look at the sticker, because his company did the installation. He called his boss and told him the problem and hiss boss said it would cost 400.00 dollars to fix this problem. I was livid. I told him I was not going to pay him anything because he should own this problem. He then told his Tech he would lower the price to 200.00. The Tech said he did not blame me for being upset. I told him to take his tools and leave. I then called an electrician friend of mine and he replaced the wire in about 30 minutes and only charged me the cost of the wire....30.00 Stay away from these rip off artists!

Everything went very well. Installment crew came in Saturday morning, on time and worked very hard and It took only 3.5-4 hours for me to get a new Air/Heat unit. Thank you very much!

I felt it was a good price, they were excellent. They were very professional, followed up and did all the things they said they would do. I'd recommend them to others.

I have used this company for over a decade, but I will no longer use them! I called to have an annual A/C tune-up for about $65. They said they had an opening in a few days (on a Monday or Tuesday). When I picked Tuesday, they gave me the choice between 8:00, 9:00 to 12:00 or 12:00-3:00. I chose 8:00. The person put me on hold and came back. The person said that if I paid $80, they could have a person out tomorrow to do the tune-up. I said, no, I will wait until next Tuesday. Then the person said that they were all booked up for the next two-and-a-half weeks (including Monday and Tuesday) and it would be September 3 before they could do the tune-up. I challenged them on their inconsistency in price and availability and that it appeared to be a rip-off and a scam to make more money, however, there was no further comment from this company. I said that I would go elsewhere for a tune-up. I don't deal with scam artists.

This was the first time I used this company. I had issues with my old company and I went to Angie's List and found American Air which had great overall scores. I called, spoke with someone immediately, she took down my information and told me someone will be out to my house within the next few hours, which they were. The service tech spent quality time looking over my system and found out that the Freon was low. I now have a new AC team going forward, thanks!

We were not there, but we were told it went well and unit works well.

The next morning, I checked online for the part and found it for $85 online. I was thinking WOW, what a difference. I then found someone reputable to install it for an hour's worth of labor. Oh did I mention that the tech did not reconnect my wires at the blower. My thermostat was dead! This was just my experience with this company and wanted to tell you to do your homework before making any decision!

They were prompt. The tech seemed fine. Told him my issue and he went out to check. Came back and said I have a freon leak and need to replace my evaporator coil. Since my unit is only 3 years old he said the part would be covered but the labor would be about $800. I asked if the leak was big and he said he was not sure...he didn't actually find the leak, but that since it was low on freon there was a leak. I opted to just get it filled with freon for now because we were going out of town and I did not want to commit to the $800 without talking to my spouse. The bill for this was about $225. I tried to use a $20 coupon that they have on this site and was told that since they did not actually "repair" my unit he would not take it. While I realize this may just be a temporary fix the fact that they would not honor a $20 coupon on a $200+ bill a little annoying. Add that to the fact that he could not find the leak, but recommended replacing the coils (not cheap) and I really feel I need to get a second opinion. I realize this might be exactly what needs to be done, but overall with them not willing to honer their own coupon and their willingness to replace something without actually finding the leak, makes me want to try a different company.

While examining the room and taking measurements for a new return air vent to improve air flow, Clayton noticed that the AC vent in the room was blocked. It would seem that when the house was constructed, the builder just cut a small slit in the opening which allowed only for a minimum amount of air to come through. Clayton cut open the duct to allow maximum airflow which immediately cooled the room. The room may still need a return air duct once the heat of summer sets in, but for now, Clayton's quick fix made an immediate impact on the temperature in the room.

They are good. They do what they have to do and explain what they are about to do and how much it will it cost. They also clean up after themselves.

Glen immediately diagnosed the problem as a clogged drain line and went to work clearing it. I was very impressed that he was so courteous and polite as his pager kept going off with additional calls and it was very hot to be working outside, as well. He got the problem taken care of and gave me advice for maintaining the line to avoid future emergencies. This was my first experience working with American Air & Heat. If all their technicians are like Glen, I can see why they're so successful. They'll be my first call in the future.

The sales consultant John Walker was very on time, knowledgeable and very professional. His evaluation of my current system was very detailed and complete. He took many measurements, looked at the electrical supply and the duct system. John recommended a new system based on the limitations of my home and my needs. Everything about the new system was explained to me and all of my questions were answered. I selected another company for this job because they offered the brand of equipment I wanted for the best price. The installation of the new equipment by Mike and Matt went flawlessly. They were on time, polite and very considerate of my home. They were both very neat and cleaned up well when the job was finished. They did a good job of explaining how to operate the new equipment and the functionality of the thermostat. However, I have to give Kyle in the permit/inspection department a low score. The installation needed to be inspected by the city and no one informed me of the inspection date. The new unit was installed on Wednesday, 12/23/09 and I called American Air and Heat on Tuesday, 12/29/09 to find out when the inspection would happen. I spoke with Kyle who scheduled the inspection for the following week. As it turns out the inspector from the city arrived the next day, Wednesday, 12/30/09 to do the inspection. Luckily, I just happened to be at home when the inspector arrived. When I spoke to Kyle on Tuesday, 12/29/09 why didn?t he tell me the inspection was scheduled for the next day? Why did he make an appointment for an inspection for the following week if an inspection was already scheduled for Wednesday? In any event, the inspection failed and a technician from American Air and Heat came back to my house on 1/6/10 to do some work on the electrical system to clear up the code violation. The installation needed to be re-inspected and the technician told me I would be receiving a call to schedule the re-inspection. A week went by and I didn?t receive a call so I made the call myself and scheduled the re-inspection with Kyle. So, I was never informed of the first inspection date and no one ever called me to schedule the re-inspection. I consider this to be poor communication on the part of the permit/inspection department. By the way the re-inspection did pass. All in all this was a good experience and I would have given American Air and Heat a perfect score except for the poor communication demonstrated by the permit/inspection department.

It went exactly as you'd want it to go. I called at 9:10 AM - the receptionist was friendly and helpful with the scheduling, and was able to get me an appointment that day with a narrower window than normal. (They usually do 1-5, but she was able to get me 3-5.) I got a call at 3:20 to let me know the technician was on his way. He (Clayton) arrived at 3:40, was friendly and professional and got right to work. He was able to find the problem quickly, explained everything to me in clear detail, and made helpful (but not pushy) recommendations about things to think about down the road. (Replacing the thermostat, how much life the system has left, etc.) The cost was $80 for a half hour service call, which seemed a little expensive, but I'm a new homeowner so I'm not sure how that compares. Will definitely call them for any heating or cooling problems in the future.

They were very prompt and courteous. They were also responsive and came out within a very short period of time. Their pricing was very reasonable and the quality of their work was good.

Called at 9am on Friday after Thanksgiving. Tech called back within 5 minutes - had one other call to make then he'd be over. Arrived around noon. Took 30-40 minutes or so to find and fix the problem. Very professional, very amiable. Had good support from his office when he called in for backup on locating the problem. I've had problems with other HVAC companies - these guys are good. No reason to call anyone else.

Excellent service from the get-go. Contacted in August because unit had been losing freon most of year. Had it charged by company earlier in year and that company had suggested we replace parts piece by piece. We wanted another opinion due to the age of the equipment - 21 years, the age of the house - and we didn't want to put good money after bad. They charged the system in August. They returned in September to search for the leak which they found in the unit. We then researched new systems. We selected American Air and Heat because of their knowledge, professionalism, and expertise. Plus we just plain liked these guys!

I also got a warranty so that if I have any problems within the year they would come back out without any trip charges. I thought the price was pretty good and they were punctual for the job.

The last job worked out great. I was pleased that the leak repair was covered by the service contract and I only had to pay for the labor. I purchased a thermostat through them and the Saturday that we received the thermostat the book was missing. Bright and early Monday morning they called to ask when they could bring the book by and they had it out to my home very quickly. I was impressed that they had noticed, before I even had an opportunity to call them. I will continue using them in the future.

The crew showed up when they said they would and finished the job the same day even though it turned out to be a very long day due to the extensive duct work they did. They cleaned up after the job and the system works fine. Mike, Matt and Morris did a great job and I would recommend them to anybody! After the job was completed the tech, Dale, who came to check the system was very knowledgeable of gas systems and made me feel assured that all is well with my new system.
