I was very favorably impressed with this company. Steve, the owner, came to my house to help me decide on the best type of shutters for my windows. Then the two installers were extremely professional and careful. They made sure that I understood how to operate the shutters before they left. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to have hurricane shutters installed.

Steve was prompt, very knowledgeable/professional during our meeting and provided us with a written estimate/shutter layout plan the very next working day via email providing his recommendations and costs for hurricane shutters (ahead of the other four companies I?ve already met with). The installation team Tim, Mike and Clayton's attention to detail and commitment to excellence in workmanship is "Outstanding" and we sincerely appreciate their "hard work" principles where at times they worked through light rain and on to early evening to get the job done, cleaning-up after each workday. The owner himself came to meet us and brought samples of the materials used to make the shutters and colors available so we could decide what was right for us. His price was about half of the previous company we had give us an estimate for the exact same material. He ordered the shutters made and was always receptive to any calls we made which he answered himself. His men came and installed the shutters all but one that was back-ordered. When they returned with the final shutter the owner came as well to make sure all was ok with us and more than one man showed both myself and then my Mother how to open, shut and lock them. They look great and installing them saved us a huge amount on of money on our homeowners insurance bill. We passed the insurance company's inspection with an A rating which saves the most money. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to purchase hurricane shutters.

Steve was very professional and responsive in answering all my questions and giving me a detailed estimate, explaining all the work and warranties to my satisfaction. When it came time for the installation the crew was very courteous and did a great job. Everything was left clean and they explained the shutter operation fully. Highly recommended!

It went well. The owner Steve LoPresti came to our home to find out what my wife and I wanted in hurricane shutters. He was very professional, courteous and spent a couple hours explaining how the shutters would work on our home. Tim and Mike installed our shutters. They did a professional job and showed me how the shutters go on over the windows. They were missing about half of the shutters when they came out to our home. Tim got right on the phone with their office in Ormond Beach to relay this information. The owner called me right away and apologized to me and ordered the missing shutters that the factory had not sent to his business. Bill of Customer Storm Shutter Direct delivered the missing shutters to our home. Bill was very pleasant and helpful and stacked all the shutters for me. Every time I called Customer Storm Shutters Direct in Ormond I talked to Rose who was always pleasant and helpful. I would recommend this business because they are very "customer centered" from the owner to the workers. The owner did a good job training his employees to "treat others as they would like to be treated". I'm sure this has a lot to do why this is so successful. The owner takes care of his employees who in turn take care of his customers so it is a win win situation. This company could be a "model" for other companies on how to run a business.

Bill actually arrived early for our appointment, which was fine with me. After detaching the 2 ten-foot long shutters' hoods, he showed me how the slats had become jammed and explained how he would fix them. He also noted and showed me that the hoods themselves had not been attached securely and then stabilized the hood mounts, adding screws to secure them to the fascia. Realigned the slats, reattached the hoods and finished by hosing down the patio underneath the work area! Bill was efficient and very pleasant. I'm calling them again when the next shutters fail.

I'm not sure there is enough space or time to write the good report here. I found Custom Storm Shutters Direct on Angies's list. Steve was the second vendor I had come give us an estimate. His relaxed attitude was a big plus but it was his portfolio that sold us. His price was competitive with all other estimates. Steve came up with a design that made the shutters look like they were built in. Even the electrical inspector thought we were just fixing previously installed shutters. He was surprised to hear that the walls covering the motors were new. Once we began enjoying the privacy, protection and fun of the shutters, we realized that our front door was very vulnerable. There have been a rash of home robberies in southwest Orlando. We didn't want the house to look like a barred fortress, so we came up with the idea of putting the shutters on the inside of the doors. Steve and his crew worked diligently to make the shutters look like an original part of the entryway. Even my friend asked if the shelf under the window had always been there. She has been in and out that door for over 15 years! My neighbors love the look of seeing our doors with what looks like just louvers on the inside. EVERYONE is totally impressed! Steve and his crew are artisans and you will be very happy with their work and their attitude.

He double checked with us about our happiness of his products and then didn't have to ask any more questions. We just raved about everything and everyone associated with his company. The crew was enormously talented and courteous. The electrician was top of the line. Another competitor who is high on Angie's List was his main competition. Custom Storm Shutter was priced higher but the reason we chose them was that they provided their own top notch electrician who knew exactly what to do and was intimately familiar with the products (and did a great clean up job from the approx. 3' of insulation in our attic--didn't leave a spec of insulation on any of my husband's clothing from that location where he accessed the roof for part of his work); and also Steve's roll downs were so far along in technology that he his crew actually uses stucco so you that can't even see the line of the roll downs. They asked for our paint and made a stucco panel to hide the roll ups and their motors. We were absolutely amazed with how great it looks. The crew was limited to 2 people who installed all types of (mostly accordion shutters) (only 3 minor, small windows had plexiglas) in just 2 days. The had full access to the pool bathroom and the patio table and never left a work scrap or even a gum wrapper on our property. At the final payment we told Steve that we would tell Angie's List customers how very, very happy we were with anyone in his company. Even the receptionist was cordial and competent. He said that he picks people especially for their ability and the way they treat his customers -- they way that he would want to be treated himself. We couldn't give higher praise to Custom Storm Shutters from the owner to everyone in the company, and that is saying a lot! An added benefit that the roll downs give me as an then unknown bonus is that when down they create mostly darkness inside our bedroom and that really helps when I get my migraine headaches and I want a dark, cool quiet room! I contacted 4 Storm Shutter companies in February 2013, all received from Angie's List (one advertising in the Solivita Monthly Community Magazine). Although Custom Storm Shutters Direct was not the lowest bid, theirs was the most innovative providing a system that can be installed within 5 minutes on most windows. Our consultant's name was Bob Burnside. He arrived the first day on time. He measured our windows and gave us a quote. We were impressed with his concern about our project and the fact that this was an expensive decision. He provided us with several alternatives that would fit our budget. In short, he worked with us. We notified Custom Storm Shutters we wanted them to do the job, and provided a small down payment. They ordered our shutters in May 2013, and started the installation in mid June 2013. The installation took 3 days. Our installation professionals were and Jay and I think Brian. Although there was a slight measurement problem, I want to say that Custom Storm Shutters were on the phone with us, came to the house two more times the smooth out any problem we thought we were having. Every moment they told us their policy was to make sure we were 100% satisfied with the result. My spouse put a shutter in place the other day in less than 5 minutes and was ecstatic. The shutter will protect the window and ensure no pressure change will occur in our home. Just as importantly, you can't see the shutter tracks when looking at the house, because they were painted to match the home's trim. After the installation was certified by the Polk County Building Inspector, I gave Bob another small order. I would recommend Custom Storm Shutters Direct to anyone who wants affordable protection, installed by some really good people.

I first emailed them and was called back within a couple of days. MIKE was polite and very knowledgable. We agreed to set up a time in a week and a half, arrived on time, had great examples with him. Took the time to explain our options. We only had 3 weeks to get the job done. We were given a complete quote and 90% guarantee they could manufacture them and install on time, but he would of course cancel the oder if they couldn't make it. Paid a 10% deposit. 10 or so days later, they called to fix the date to install. We were told it would take two guys about 4 hours to install. They arrived promptly on the agreed date, 3 and a half hours later. Done! Our two surprises were the permit and inspection. We did fill out the forms for the permit, but had no idea what that would mean. CSS did all the paperwork and fees to the city (included in quote) but since we were a rush job, the permit came afterwards and the inspection the following day. All went fine, it would have been nice to be informed how this would work. All in all, great proffessional company, will use them again to do our doors and garage door windows.

In home presentation excellent. Price best found. Installation earlier than expected. Excellent job. Good cleanup. They arranged city permit and inspection. Will use them again.

We were very pleased. We found Steve to be very easy to work with. He explained all our options and helped us choose was best for our application. He arrived on time, with all necessary materials available and was able to answer any concerns we had. The installers were all professional. They would introduce themselves when they came to the door. They always removed their shoes when they came in the house and they answered every question I had. They didn't leave until they explained what they did and made sure we understood how the rolling door worked. We would not hesitate to refer them to our friends and family. A wonderful experience!

We are new to Daytona Beach and in our first condo. Steve was great! Polite and very knowlegable. The estimate was 500 less than another company we had out for an estimate. The work was done as scheduled and the 2 men that did the work were polite and professional. I am extremely happy with the experience. As a new condo owner the men that did the work followed the HOA rules and there wer no issues. VERY HAPPY!

Steve was very professional. There were no hidden charges. His team showed up on time and cleaned up afterward. He provides a superior product and I would definitely use them again.

Having moved to the beach area in April of this year, my husband and I wanted to get some kind of hurricane shutters for the house.I found Mike on Angie's list and gave him a call. He was prompt in responding and came out shortlyafterwards to our house to show us the various choices. There was no pressure one way or the other. MIke simply explained the pros and cons and the prices. He answered all our questions in detail. We chose the galvanized shutters as they were less expensive than the louvered and pull downs. The shutters were made to order and we are very pleased with the results. We have yet to use them, but feel confident as to the installation when the time comes. We were told to feel free to call at any time with questions or concerns. I would definately recommend this company to anyone seeking to install the hurricane shutters.

Steve Lopresti and crew made this truly a pleasurable experience all around. They came in early and right on budget. I had thoughts of doing this job myself and boy am I happy I let the professionals take care of it for me! There are so many important details I had no idea of that only years of experience can offer. Custom Storm Shutters Direct has that experience and know-how. For instance...the tops of the shutters eg. valance is sloped so water doesn't accumulate, weep holes are strategically placed throughout the system etc. I couldn't be happier with my shutters and the knowledge that the job is done right and that the company has promised they are only a phone call away should I need them. Oh, and I highly reccomend the Somfy electric motors; talk about WOW factor! And we use them daily to help keep the house cooler [cha ching]. You can shut them half way down or wherever you like, no problem! I didn't want to spend all my budget on shutters so I only did half for now but you can rest assured that I'll call Custom Storm Shutters Direct as soon as I've built the budget back up to do the rest! I am a bit late writing this review, but have been meaning to so for quite sometime now. It is important to let people know if there are good people out there that you can trust. For me I have had nothing but trouble from your typical run of the mill contractors and unprofessional people. When Mike picked up the phone himself, answered my call well after hours and was at my house the next day to give me a free estimate, I was pleased to say the least. He took the time to explain to me every detail and gave me time to make my decision without any pushy salesman type or con type of delivery. I had several quotes that were lower, but the professionalism and friendliness I got from Mike was much more important to me. He delivered the product he said he would and the shutters look great. His crew were on time, professional and worked really hard, even doing some "fixing up" that another horrible contractor never would fix himself. They took pride in their work and did a fantastic job, working from sun up and not leaving until the job was done after sundown. It was hot and humid, but they were still smiling at the end of the job. Mike even came back the next day to fix a small glitch for me that I had caused. He drove out of his way to do this without even a second thought. To me there is nothing more important than someone who cares about their work and takes pride in what they do. Steve was courteous, prompt and efficient.

Technicians arrived on time. Diagnosed problem quickly. Repaired motor with available parts. Tested motor, reinstalled covers and removed debris from work area.

One the screens finally arrived, installation time was about 2.5 hours. We are very pleased with the results and the installer could not have been nicer. He thoroughly explained everything, checked out the fit and helped us put it all away tidily.

Since living in Florida my wife and I have seen many hurricanes strike various parts of the state with disastrous results and always felt a sense of relief when near misses passed by Jacksonville Beach. Since the installation has been completed my wife and I feel more secure against any type of wind borne damage resulting from a hurricane or storm in the Jacksonville Beach area, and we highly recommend Mike O'Connell and his team to anyone considering hurricane shutter installation.

I am from Connecticut and had no knowledge of hurricane protection. Mike did a great job of educating me concerning the different types of shutters as well as the cost and ease of operation associated with each, he did not attempt to sell me any particular type but instead enabled me to make an informed decision as to what was best for me. In the end I decided to purchase roll down shutters. I am glad I did too! Mike applied a stucco finish to the shutters which matches my home and makes them blend in very well. The extra money spent for the stucco was well worth it! When the installation team arrived they were neat and methodical and thier work was impeccable.
