These people bait you into a annual contract and then stop after 9 months to say you owe you more money. They mislead people that its annual contract and only 9 month. They are making away like bandits. This happened to several people I know including myself. They are evil and dishonest. But if you want to thin k they are doing something special, thats fine.

What started out as great service turned into a nightmare. I hired TruGreen in the summer of 2020, because my previous lawn service/pest control company allowed my lawn to turn into a weed apocalypse then gave me a hard time about it. So I got someone else. And for the remainder of 2020 and for the most part in 2021, TruGreen managed to rehabilitate my very sad lawn. They were responsive, came out to re-treat when asked. They were friendly and answered questions. Life was good. Well, except that unlike 2020, TruGreen did not use TopChoice for the yearly fireant service in July 2021. They used Advion then ignored my question as to why. Mistakes happen, I know, but ignoring the question, and then not making it right? Hm. That really should have been my first clue. In the fall of 2021, my normally reliable single point of contact said they'd call me with a price for 2022 in mid December 2021. Mid December came and went...and my followup texts and voicemails to them went unanswered. TruGreen was MIA. The call center was perpetual holdfest, notes sent to Customer Service from the web portal were unanswered. This should have been my second hint to GET OUT. When I finally managed to get someone to respond, I got several different prices, a promise of a call back...then more silence. I eventually just pre-paid for my 3 services via my online account because I figured they'd make it right. Silly me. Hope is just another word for denial... Service didn't actually start until 1/17 and that was my first TruHealth lawn service for 2022. The second was on 3/8. My third TruHealth lawn service was on 4/11. [it's 5/26 as I write this...] And aside from the free re-services for weeds (3/30, 4/18, and 5/9), and the re-treatment for fireants (that shouldn't have been necessary) (4/18 and 4/25) -- they haven't been back. My lawn, despite supplemental irrigation and a decent amount of rain, isn't growing. It is sickly and yellowish. The only thing that IS growing are the weeds. I don't like phone calls because I prefer having a written record of interactions with vendors -- it keeps things straight. And without a single point of contact this year, I use the online account portal or email to contact CS. And every time I'd send an email to Customer Service I'd eventually get 2 different responses -- sometimes with conflicting or incorrect info. It's also important to note that their response time is at least 3-4 days IF at all. And God help you if you send more than one email. You may get multiple responses that will all contradict each other. By last weekend I'd complained about weeds (AGAIN) and questioned why they hadn't been out to do the regular service since early April and...no response. The service manager, who gave me his contact info when he came out personally to take care of fireants on 4/25, was also non-responsive though he was copied on the email. Yesterday was the point I decided I'd spent enough time trying to get them to perform as agreed. And I emailed that I wanted to cancel my account and have the remaining portion of my prepay ($650.67) returned to me. I got no response. So I texted the service manager and...he told me to go through the call center. Wow. So I called and managed to get to speak to someone who promised me a refund, but who didn't want to cancel my account before the refund. Oookay. She also said TruGreen would "make it right" first and get the techs out to take care of the fertilizer and the weeds and the fireants at no charge. Okay. She even emailed me to tell me that the refund was "in process". Cool. Then I logged in to my account and saw that a TruHealth service was scheduled for 6/1. So I emailed her and asked about it. And about details of my refund. And haven't heard back since. I followed up today. Silence. In January 2022 I pre-paid $1000.62 through 31 December 2022 for 3 services -- TruHealth Lawn Service, Quarterly Perimeter Pest, and Annual Fireant treatment. To date I have chargeable invoices totalling $349.95 which has been debited from that prepayment. TruHealth Lawn -- $53.35 x3 -- $160.05 Perimeter Pest -- 94.95 x2 -- $189.90 That leaves a balance of $650.67 in my account that TruGreen owes me. Runaround and stalling is probably what you can expect from TruGreen. When it comes right down to it -- TruGreen doesn't give a **** about me, my lawn, or doing the right thing. And if they do it to me, they'll probably do it to you too. I need my $650.67 refunded. ASAP. I really don't want to have to litigate this.

We have been a customer with Tru Green since 2010. the first two years went well. Green grass and shrubs. No sod web worms or fungus and the lawn looked great, alot of comments from the neighbors. Now the lawn is getting fungus again in several spots, especially the back yard. You can tell it is fungus by the bright orange ring around the edge as the grass dies then you get semi circles that just keeps spreading. Tru Green has been out since Sept of this year spraying and responding but the grass is still getting more fungus in the back yard and now moving to the front. Th shrubs also started getting fungus and the leaves fell off. They have sprayed them several times and they are still dying. This happened in 2012, 2013 and in 2014. Not sure I will renew for 2015. Cannot get a Manager to come to the house and see the problem. So I took some pictures, which they said they got. but all I got was another treatment, which did no good.
Description of Work: Lawn service for sod web worms, fertilize the lawn, application for potassium & potash. Applied fungus killer. Fertilizer the trees and shrubs and trees. spray for bugs and fungus.

Wow. Didn't think a company could be so brazenly dishonest! Wish I had checked Angie's List before signing a year contract with these guys. Front lawn treatment was fine (backyard could have been better.) But don't even get me started on the tree/shrub service. Those guys literally didn't do anything. This morning I watched them drive up the street, pull into my driveway, walk up to my door to hang the service note of what they "did" that day, and drive off. They didn't even do anything! And this was a special service call I put in because I've been noticing bugs eating some of my shrubs. They're note said they spent 8 minutes at my house (which was actually 1 minute). Even if they had gotten out of the car, there is no way they could have treated the extensive shrubs and trees on my acre lot in 8 minutes. Who do they think they're fooling?! I paid for the year in advance, and they started billing me for services 2 months before the year was up, and without informing me. Grr. But today's "service call" was the last straw. I fired Trugreen, got recommendations from neighbors, checked the new company on Angie's List, and hired the new company within a few hours of this morning's farce. Call me crazy, but when I pay for a service, I expect them to actually do it--not lie to me about it. And when I pay for a year of service, I expect 12 months without a bill...not 10 months.

Good salesmanship but very poor delivery. I am about to cancel my contract after many multiple phone calls and attempts for someone to actually do what I am paying for. 1. The $200 air-ration treatment I paid for was almost not noticable and when I called them to redo it, it took them 3 months to get back. The machine broke 5 minutes into the treatment and they still told me that they did the whole yard. Not worth the service at all. 2. Weed control was good at the beginning and then they started missing portions of my lawn like the whole left side of the house. When I called to schedule a trip back, they would come back and not do it and still say they did it. I have cameras on my house so I was able to watch them not do what they said they did so I have proof. I am going to switch for sure. I gave them many chances, but I hate when people lie about service I am paying for. I would not recommend them.

There isn't enough time to go into all the details, but it is clear this company doesn't care about its residential customers. Poor service, ignorance of yard challenges, multiple missed appointments, and repeated telemarketing calls to upsell services despite our requests to be removed from such lists.... It was finally too much to handle. When we finally cancelled our services due to another missed appointment, the manager simply said, "OK." They just don't care.

When we first started the service, we were satisfied, and the lawn looked good. Over the years the quality of the service got worse, and the lawn now looks like the owners don't care at all. The arrival and departure times are printed on the receipt, and the average total time at our home lately has been approximately 6 minutes which includes unrolling and rolling up the hose and printing out a receipt. The technician just walks down the center of the yard and sprays back and forth and misses the majority of the lawn. This year our lawn looks the worst that it ever has with many weeds and a severe sod webworm problem which the technician has never even mentioned or treated. I have lost almost half of my back yard to the webworms. I take great pride in my lawn, and manually pull weeds as I see them and bag all of the clippings. Today was the last straw. The technician came for the usual 6 minutes and applied fertilizer with no mention or treatment for the webworms. I will be canceling my service in the morning. The sales people are very pushy, and I am sure that they will try to keep me as a customer by offering additional services at a reduced price, but I have had it. I am searching Angie's List now for a new company. My neighbor has an off brand service provider, and their technician sprays the WHOLE yard and spends about 30 minutes per service.
Description of Work: We have had a regular service contract with TruGreen for many years which includes fertilization, weed control, and insect control for the lawn areas only. The lawn is large with 20,000 square feet of surface.

They were awful. I ended my contract with them. They were put on chemicals that were supposed to get rid of red ants. They didn't. They came and treated it in January and killed over half my lawn. They said they had treated the weeds, but they put the wrong stuff on it. I had two other lawn companies come out and they said they had ended up killing all the roots. I should have had the most immaculate lawn and I spend all that money having a dead lawn. I gave the new company two years to fix Trugreen's work.

Approximately two years ago we had requested 4 treatments a year. However, after a few months they increased it to 6 treatments yearly without advising us. Earlier this year, we treceived a letter from a collection agency that we owed the company for an overdue invoice. When we called them, we mentioned that we had been paying for their service over the past 2 years by direct deposit regularly, and we did not recall ever seeing a statement for this unpaid invoice. We were not able to verify if this invoice was for one of the additional services they provided, so we gave them our credit card number to process payment. We were then told that our service had been terminated, and a sales representative would contact us to restart service. After two weeks without hearing anything, we requested service, and that is when they advised us that the price had increased and they could no longer provide service at the rate we had been paying.

Total incompetence! I should have got rid of them back in January 2012, but the smooth talker from the Trugreen corporate office talked me into giving them another chance. For whatever reason in 2011, my lawn treatment stopped in September 2011 and my shrub service continued on schedule for the rest of the year. You can just imagine what the lawn would look like with a 3-4 month of no treatment. Obviously, during that timeframe, my lawn looked like crap (weeds, browning, etc.). I went from the "best on the block" and even was awarded the community Yard of the Month to having one of the worst looking lawns on my block. That's when I contacted the Trugreen Corporate Office in January 2012 to cancel my service with them, however, I was "sweet talked" into retaining Trugreen with "freebie" treatments for a couple of months. In conversation I had with the Corporate Rep, he would try to resolve the issue with the local Trugreen office and put me on a schedule that would make the lawn green again. Having a green yard is very important to me. Anyway, the service again for whatever reason stopped in September (2012). I contacted them to come out and treat the yard. It wasn't until the first week in January they came back out to treat the yard, but instead of treating the yard, they treated the shrubs and ornamental trees, etc. I can't believe the technician seeing the lawn in the condition did not even report the condition of the lawn and recommend the local office to come out and treat the lawn. It wasn't until I contacted them that they would come out and treat it right away. Anyway, by that time, I had had it with Trugreen and service. The yard looks like crap and now full of weeds. I would never use Trugreen ever again and I certainly would never recommend their company. DON'T HIRE THEM! YOU'LL BE SORRY YOU DID!!

Called me back within 5 minutes of requesting a quote online. They were very helpful about getting services setup. Paid upfront for all services. Came out as promised for first service to treat shrubs and trees. The returned as promised the next week to treat yard. This is where it went down hill. I started receiving multiple calls per week to setup home inspection for energy savings, pay to have another treatment for trees and shrubs (although I was told initially this only needed to be performed once per year), have yard aerated at additional expense, etc... I did ask to have the yard aerated and I was told that I should expect them to call me back that day to setup a date. Failed to call me back regarding this service. I received another call asking about setting up a home inspection, I told them I was not interested, but I was still waiting to hear back about aeration and they said someone would call me back that day. Again no call back. I called the next day to setup aeration and after being on hold for 20 minutes finally was told again someone would call me back to have service setup. I received a call two days later asking to schedule another home inspection. I finally was able to get a promise that my lawn would be aerated that week. That week came and went. Received another call the next week asking once again to setup for a home inspection. Again told them I was not interested and I wanted to know what happened regarding law aeration. They apologized and I was told they put a message in the computer that my yard must be aerated no matter what the following week. Again a week came and went. I called back and was told they didn't know what happened, but they would have some one out to aerate the lawn. At this point I canceled the service as they failed to follow up on services requested and only were concerned about calling to setup additional services not requested. When I called to cancel they again tried to ask me to schedule a new shrub and tree treatment for additional expense and they could discount the next yard treatment. This company was very difficult to talk to someone on the phone and hold times of greater than 15 minutes were not unusual. Easiest way to talk to someone was wait for someone to call asking me if I wanted to pay for an additional unrequested service or home energy inspection, which was offered to me at no additional cost.

They were fine for the first month. I think they actually used chemicals then. After that the condition of the lawn and shrubs declined so badly I fired them. I think they were using a very weak solution after that first application. I hired a new company and within 30 days the lawn looked great. This is the second company I have had that did essentially the same thing. Started out good but quickly fell into providing minimal service for the money. I am on my third company who is doing a much better job on a consistent basis. Tru Green also got into a constant selling mode telling me I need other applications. I didn't bite on those and got so fed up with the constant calling that I took it into account when I fired them and told them that was one reason. The other of course was the lack of results past their first month.
