I moved from New York to Florida and decided to use PODS instead of a moving company. I rented an 8 foot wide by 16 foot long pod and took about a week to load my personal belongings that I intended to keep. Everything else in my home was sold by me. The delivery of my pod was right on time and the pick-up after I loaded it was also on time. After arriving in Florida the day before the scheduled closing on my newly purchased home, I discovered that due to bank errors, my closing was delayed by a month. With PODS, this was not a problem as they placed my POD into storage upon receipt of a telephone call from me. Upon getting a definite closing date on the home, I scheduled my POD delivery for the following day. It arrived exactly on time and I proceeded to unload the POD (which took about another week). This is a wonderful idea and saved me a considerable amount of money, instead of using a moving company. Everything arrived just as I packed it with no damage at all. I would definitely use them again in the future.

They delivered a storage unit to the house where my friends and I loaded it. They sent someone to supervise to ensure we loaded and packed everything correctly. They delivered promptly when I needed it and they placed it exactly where we needed it. It was breeze to work with them.

They were great. They delivered on time and did everything they said they would do.

Never Again. Worst move ever. I am sure they might be ok if you were moving across town and/or just needed to store stuff in your driveway for a while, but not for moving long distance. First, you can only keep the pod for 5 days before they pick it up otherwise you get charged extra. Then if they store it for you, the charges are astronomical. They also charge lots of little extras, like a fee if the pick up or delivery is out of the local affiliate zip. Don't be fooled into thinking this is anything like the commercials, it is not. We got our stuff into a local self storage as soon as we could just to be rid of them. Do yourself a favor - hire a real mover next time - I know I will.

I called PODS after reading a favorable report on Angie's List. The agent I spoke to was very courteous and professional and answered all of my questions. Unfortunately the answers I was given were not accurate. I set up to get a POD delivered to my house and the agent asked how long I would need it before they would come pick it up and I told him I wasn't sure, probably at least a month. He said that was no problem and I could always change it if needed. He led me to believe that the POD would not be picked up until I called. This was a big move for us- from Orlando,FL to Virginia's Eastern Shore. We were 3/4's of the way through having the POD packed and we had to run out to the store and came home to find the POD gone. We were given no notice of any kind. I immediately called and was told that this was the date I had told the agent to have it picked up when I made the reservation. Apparently the agent decided to chose a date for me when I said I wasn't sure. I explained this to the agent I was now talking to and when I told him we needed it brought back he informed me there would be a re-delivery charge of $65. I then asked to speak to a manager and was transferred to another department. I requested that that $65 fee be waived since this was a mistake by their agent, not us. They were again very polite and said they would look into it and most likely the fee would be waived but they "couldn't make any guaranties". The fee was never waived. They had no proof that their agent was at fault so we had to eat that charge. The next issue was that we were told the pod would be dropped off at our new residence so we could unload it. Once again I was given the wrong information by the initial agent. Because we were moving to a rural location they could not deliver it to us and we would have to come to the nearest PODS facility to unload it. The nearest facility was in Salisbury,MD which is 1 1/2 hours away from us but we were told that we could have access to it 6 days a week between 10am and 5pm. We make our move and when I call PODS to set up a day to go to our pod and I'm told our pod is NOT in Salisbury,MD but in Dover,DE. It took me 4 days to get the pod over to Salisbury, the place it was always supposed to be delivered. They said that the Dover facility included the Salisbury storage facility but if we wanted to have it taken to Salisbury they could do that for us. Dover is an extra 1/2 hour away from us. Oh,and they wanted to charge us another delivery fee for changing locations! Dover was never mentioned to us until we were told that was where our pod was parked. I was not a happy camper. That fee was at least waived. Now the real fun begins. The pod is in Salisbury. I call to set up our 1st pick up date, a Saturday, and I'm told the Salisbury and Dover facilities are not open on Saturdays. my husband is only off on weekends and now I discover we can't get to our pod on weekends! So my husband makes arrangements to take a Wednesday off and I call to set a date and I'm then told that the Salisbury facility is not open on Wednesdays either. This is beyond belief! I complained to PODS and was told that the original agent must have just "assumed" that the facility was open on those days without actually checking on it because "most of our facilities ARE open on Saturdays". What should have taken us no more than 2 or 3 months to completely empty has taken well over 12 months instead. The bottom line: PODS agents are extremely polite and professional over the phone but DO NOT TRUST THAT YOU ARE BEING GIVEN ACCURATE INFORMATION. We are done with them now and will never use this company again.

during a 3 month remodel of our house, we used a pod parked in our driveway to store our furniture until the work was completed. They dropped off the pod on time and exactly where we wanted it, and picked it up on time when we were through. The only disappointment was that the finish on one table was damaged by the heat-next time I'll pay for the storage.

I had no problems whatsoever. The customer service representatives were very helpful, and everything went exactly according to plan. I consider POD to be a viable alternative to hiring movers because we can pack and move at our own pace and maintain total control over how our items are handled.

I called them and they brought out the storage unit and put it in front of the house. I packed up everything and packed the unit. When we were ready to move, they came and picked it up and moved it to our new location. They will store the unit at the warehouse until your ready to move and for approximately 60 days there is no storage charge. You can also go to the unit about 3 times with no charge to retrieve things needed. The service was very good.
