+ -1 moreI have used Rick several times over the past ten years and I am continually impressed by his professionalism. He's prompt and honest and his price is very reasonable. Rick always tries to find the least costly fix, then work up from there, if necessary. In fact, I had an issue earlier in the Spring with my thermostat. He came and tested the components and narrowed the issue down to my thermostat, which was still under warranty (I had installed it a couple of years ago). So, I repaired it myself and Rick wasn't going to charge me. I insisted on giving him money for the service call. That's just the kind of guy Rick is. He's awesome. Also, Rick is very detail oriented. Years ago we had him install a new a/c and heat in a house which was being remodeled. The quality of his work is very impressive. I keep Rick in my phone as my a/c guy and have shared his information with many friends. They are also impressed too. I've had an Angie's list account for a couple of years now, and just realized North Star HVAC is listed. I just had to leave a review. I will continue to leave reviews as I need services during the years to come.

Description of Work: I found Rick in my current Angies List book and asked him to come over to my home for an estimate for a complete duct replacement.....little to my thoughts, rick was very thorough and at the end of the time informed me that my ducts were perfectly good and suggested I not change them out. I was shocked and surprised again when I found another "Honest" craftsman in angies book.. Thank you for your being there Angie, So glad I joined.

Description of Work: Both air handler coils needed to be replaced. A/C units needed to be cleaned and serviced. We had a vent added and the filter system was updated. All was completed on time and with zero negative issues. Skip Honeywell and call this company!

+ -1 moreRick is a man of integrity. He is honest and runs a great business. He knows A/C cold (pardon the pun). I use Rick for all my A/C repairs and when the time comes, compressor, air handler, and duct replacement.
Description of Work: We've used Rick before to service our Rheem A/C unit so when our compressor stopped working we knew exactly who to call. It was after 5 pm and our house was 85 degrees and getting warmer. Rick not only answered the phone, but immediately jumped in his truck and drove across town to help us. The interesting thing is when I called and explained what happened, Rick anticipated what might be wrong and brought a few replacement parts (capacitor) that he thought might be the solution. This smart anticipation on his part, helped ensure his trip to our house wasn't in vain. Rick had us up and running again in about an hour.

+ 0 moreRick is prompt and diligent, showing up when he says he will and working until the job is done. I've seen him work until 7pm to get a job done. He'll show you how to do things (like installing a programmable thermostat or basic maintenance), instead of trying to rack up a bigger bill. He is patient with questions and explains how your system works, so that you can make educated decisions. I never understood what it meant to have a 2-stage heat pump, but once he explained, I was able to run my system more efficiently. Overall, one of the best service providers I've found in Orlando, and I can't recommend him highly enough.
Description of Work: Rick at North Star is my go-to person for everything HVAC. He's kept old A/Cs alive much longer than I'd ever thought possible, replaced units that have bitten the dust, repaired ductwork and replaced thermostats. Most recently, he was out to do the yearly maintenance, and caught a faulty part that would have been a major repair had it not been replaced.
