This is very disappointing, because I have used them a few times previously (and paid them immediately upon completion of service) and they have provided good customer service in the past. I guess they are now very busy and do not feel the need to be responsive to Angie's List customers.
but is caused by the voltage coming into the house Duke energy's responsibility to correct & should cost us nothing.
Follow up - Duke energy came out to the house & checked the voltage. The said the voltage coming into the house
& said the voltage coming into the house was right - so nothing is any different than it was.
They promised a free estimate. Their technician arrived and advised us as to what needed to be done and the cost. I told him I would consider his offer and get back to him if I wanted to proceed. He then tried to charge us for the visit. When reminded it was supposed to be a free estimate, he made a call and then apologized and told us he wasn't aware the estimate was free. Fine. Apology accepted. No problem. I then called him a couple of days later and accepted his offer. He set the date and time of the service and I agreed. On the day the service was to be performed he called and asked to reschedule. Ok. No problem. The reschedule was set for five days later. On the next day service was to be done he didn't show up nor did he call. Calls to him were not returned. Ok. No problem. I contacted another electrician who agreed to do the job and, incidentally, for significantly less. I'll be referring my friends and family to that electrician in the future. No thanks to Angie's List for wasting my time with this dud.
"Dear customer, I spoke with our technician and he informed that the reason he attempted to charge you was because we repaired your issue. He informed me that he repaired 3 items and was there a total of 1.5 hours. This leads me to bring up an important issue that we all to often get stuck in the middle of and that is FREE ESTIMATES. In good faith we do offer Free Estimates. If you think of this we are driving out to your home or business in hopes of earning your business. In the process we realize that the FREE ESTIMATE is actually more of I can fix this issue now. This becomes an issue. I have stated on the website that we cannot estimate a troubleshooting issue no more than you can. Say an outlet is not working or a light is flickering off and on. Usually this is a loose connection in the wiring which was the case with this visit. We repair the issue and attempt to get paid for the repair but are told that the visit was for a free estimate. In my personal opinion this is not fair. In this case and with numerous others we walk away empty handed. As for not returning your call or answering your call or showing up for the return trip. Again I spoke to the technician and with our service director Brian and neither of them have received a call or a message requesting our return so I am not sure if there was a mix up here. It does happen in rare occasions that we fail to reschedule but I can assure you it does not happen often. I do apologize for any inconvenience but in speaking with our guys I do not feel that this review is fair when considering that we fixed your problem for free.
