Crum's Climate Control

They answered my questions very completely and carefully. The estimators that bid on the job were very friendly. The service techs arrived on time and did a complete installation (which included removing old equip and adding equipment and a new concrete slab). They worked with the electrical lines and cabinets and installed everything in 6.5 hours. They were very clean, reasonable and efficient. The house is 1800 square feet. This system is a Trane 3 Ton System.

They called me to ask if I would want the a/c they had installed the previous year cleaned & maintained. I made an appointment for 9 am, two weeks in advance, explaining that I would take time off work to meet them at my house. At 8:45 am they called to say they would be to my home at 11:00, at 10:45, they called to say it would be between 1-3:00, they later called to change the appointment to between 5-6:00. No apology, only "we're short handed today", with an attitude. They did service the a/c, telling me that it needed a "switch" replaced, which he didn't have on the truck. I rescheduled them to come back out saying I needed an early appointment for ANY day, but it had to be first thing in the morning. They scheduled it for 9 am , two days hence. At 8:45, I got a call to say they would be here between 11-2:00 --deja vu all over again! I canceled the appointment and my maintenance agreement. They have too many customers--I think we need to help them out with this problem.

This company doesn't know what they are doing. The person that came was a zombie. He didn't check the ducts, didn't seal the air ducts properly so air was just seeping into the attic. They are horrible.

This company tried to change my contract 8 months into the original contract. I obviously didn't sign! I've never gotten in touch with someone from the actual company and have never seen them in their own trucks. They are a bad outfit, I felt deceived.

They came out right on time and the work was done well except for the heat strips that were not functioning. It took them a while to get back with me and fix it, around 3 weeks. Other than that I got a good deal and I haven t had any problems ever since.

THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND THEY DID EVERYTHING WELL.

Crums climate control started off strong appearing friendly and competent to do this project. The technicians were very skilled and worked very hard, however, they were not provided with the proper supplies for the job. Communication was lost somewhere between the salesman, office staff, and techs. Some of the measurements were taken incorrectly and took several visits by several different techs and were never corrected. The air conditioning cools pretty well, but the experience was frustrating and time consuming. One year later I called to schedule my preventative maintenance done and they could not schedule me for over two months. The office staff was also unfriendly. I called and had another company order the replacement parts I needed and do the preventative maintenance about a week later.

They were very conscientious, friendly and professional. They kept me informed the whole way through and cleaned up well after themselves. I'd use them again and recommend them to others!

Crum's has had some personnel issues, because a different technician would come to my house each time. He usually forgot the special filter that is changed annually, even when I would request it on the phone while scheduling the appointment. The last time I used Crum's (Nov. 2005), they either didn't show or rescheduled my appointment 4 times, even though I was paying extra for the ''preferred customer'' plan.

The workmen were diligent and polite. However, they did not arrive until 2PM and didn't leave until past midnight! Obviously, they should have been scheduled for first thing in the morning. The workmen replaced a functioning programmable thermostat with a non-programmable variety. I am going to have to purchase a programmable version. I haven't yet contacted them about paying for this.

We were not at all satisfied with the work Crums did. They failed the first inspection by the county, because they did not install braces to hold the ducts. Even though they were supposed to totally replace a duct, they simply cut a piece out and said they'd replaced it. When we went into the attic we discovered they had not done what they were supposed to do. It took several more trips out to complete this aspect of the job. They have very poor customer service skills. We got absolutely nowhere with our technician and finally had to resort to contacting the owner. Many appointments were set and they would fail to show up.

OUR INTERACTION WITH THE COMPANY HAS BEEN GOOD, HOWEVER, OUR TRANE AC HAS GIVEN US TROUBLE SINCE IT WAS FIRST INSTALLED. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE OUTSIDE UNIT BEING NOISY AND NOW THE INSIDE UNIT IS EMITTING A CHEMICAL SMELL. THEY HAVE NOT HEARD THE NOISE SO DIAGNOSTIC HAS BEEN DIFFICULT. WE HAVE NOT RESOLVED THESE ISSUES YET.
