When they pumped my tank as I paid the worker said my drainfield isn't working. I hired a plumbing contractor to do the drainfield. When the plumber uncovered my tank aproximately a wk. after Brownies pumped it a bunch of dirt fell in the tank because a lid was broken and a piece of it fell had fallen in the tank. I was angry I had not been told the condition of my tank and called them. When they came out to ck. it was a different worker, not a supervisor. They made many excuses and never apologized for such unethical behavior.

Response from Brownie's Septic and Plumbing
Ms. [Member Name Removed], My name is Marc and I am President of Brownie's. We have emailed and called you multiple times to address you poor review of the company. I am sorry you will not get back with us. I do need to clarify one thing. We never put a broken lid back after pumping septic without telling the owner. Why do I know this? Because we make money replacing lids. WE have a vested interest in making sure you know. One because it is the great customer service we have offered for 68 years. No company in Orlando does more septic pump outs each year than Brownie's and no company has done it longer. Secondly we would hope that you would hire us to replace your lid. If a lid breaks it usually happens when the tank is initially opened not when it is closed. How do you know that the other company you had out did not break it when they opened it and then blamed us? I have checked with my technician who has been with us for 16 years and he is absolutely certain the lid was fine when he closed the tank and sealed the lid. Sorry we are having to discuss this over an Angie's list review board instead of over the phone but I hope you will consider the points I have made and even consider changing the review you gave us since it is not based on your own personal experience of the situation but on the word of one of our competitors. Sincerely, MARC

Called Brownie's on 12/16 and spoke with Tina to schedule the inspection. She was great, full of information and very helpful. She suggested a schedule between 8-11am on Sat, 12/19. I asked for a time between 9-12 because the sellers still reside in my future property and didn't want anyone there before 9. That was no problem. She sent some agreement papers which I signed and returned. Today, 12/19, I got a call from the technician at 10am saying that he was on the way. This was great because I was also in the middle of the home inspection. This meant I didn't have to incovenience the seller again. At 11:19am, I called that number to get an ETA because he was not there yet. No answer. At 11:45 I call the number again and still no answer. I call the office at 12:02 explain the situation. I was told they would page the technician and have them call me immediately. After 5 minutes of no call, I called the office again and while on hold, got a call from another person with the company. He explained that the technician that had called me earlier was NOT the technician that was coming because they had to move around some work. He was going to have the technician that was scheduled to come call me and give me an ETA. This was 12:03. At 12:08 the technician called me, said he was coming from Oviedo and would be at the property around 1:05. I cancelled my service with him at that point because I could not wait around for another hour AND I was totally convinced he would actually be there at that time based on the prior experience. I saw great reviews of this company and also got some recommendations from friends who use them to pump their septic tanks. There was no communication about rescheduling my appointment or the challenges that time would present. I would expect a company to work with me if they couldn't meet their timeline. Had that happened, I could have worked around it. But, unfortunately, the only communication about this was what I initiated. I am quite disappointed and will not be trying to reschedule with this company.
Description of Work: I scheduled them for inspection of a septic tank on a home I had just purchased.

Response from Brownie's Septic and Plumbing
Mrs. [Member Name Removed] My name is Marc and I am the President of Brownie’s. I have reviewed your issue with the person in charge of dispatching technicians on Saturday and the two technicians involved to better understand how this could happen. We take a lot of pride in offering the best customer service in Orlando. We have been doing so since 1948. While we offer our services 24 hours a day 7 days a week, Saturday’s and Sunday’s can be harder for us to handle because we have a reduced staff on the weekends. You were set up correctly and the technician was on his way and on time. And emergency came up while in route and the technician had to be re-routed to another job that required his truck and equipment. A new technician who was already in the field was given your job and would have been there by 1:00 (about an hour late). The real issue and where we dropped the ball is communication. The dispatcher should have called you himself and explained what was happening and not rely on the drivers (while driving) to try to get back to you. The first technician was not trying to avoid your call but he was on a job when you called him additional times and unable to answer the call. The dispatch knows this and should have communicated better with you. I am very sorry for your experience. We pump out between 20 and 30 septic tanks a day and we are the oldest and most experience service in Orlando but we did drop the ball on proper communication. I have used your input to have a technicians meeting and go over the situation so it does not happen again. Thanks for your feedback, MARC

On June 22, 2015 of this year I called Brownie?s Septic & Plumbing out to one of my rental houses to clear a stopped up drain, as I?ve done many times in the past. They came quickly and ATTEMPTED to clear the drain without much luck, at a cost of approx. $122. It was clear that one of the branches of my drainage system was going to need to be replaced. So Brandon Lepper, Brownie?s Estimator, came out to the property to inspect the job and he quoted $2,350. He told me he would e-mail the contract by the next day. My corporate e-mail address is similar to another company in my business, so I was VERY EXPLICIT when giving him the address. I heard nothing from him and when the tenant called Brownie?s to inquire about the commencement of the job, Ashley Pardo told him that they were waiting on me to send the contract back. This made the tenant belligerent as they felt I was ?dragging my feet? over spending $2,350. A quick call to Ashley (where she denied talking to the tenant, but then how did he know I hadn?t signed the contract?) revealed that Keith, the plumbing manager, had gotten my e-mail address incorrect. So she finally sent it to me 6/25/15 1:28pm. I returned it signed moments later at 1:28pm, also requesting that she send me a copy of the invoice for the call on 6/22/15 (I had gotten a faded pink carbonless). Ashley Pardo responded that she would send a copy of the invoice that day. At this point I was quite cognizant that the tenant had been without a working drain for several days, so on 6/25/15 7:46pm I emailed Ashley Pardo again asking if we could at least pump the dirty water out of the drain in order to make it more sanitary. I even offered to pay them for another housecall for the extra work. Tina Borden responded the next morning at approx. 8:30am via e-mail saying that ?I was advised by Keith (plumbing mgr) until the job is complete you signed proposal on we won?t be able to resolve the issue of the standing water?. So I was pretty much stuck with waiting until Monday or Tuesday, being the dates they promised the work to be done. At this point I hadn?t given them a deposit and so I called Tina at 8:00am on Monday 6/29/15 (they had promised either Monday or Tuesday as a start date) and offered to meet her plumbers at the property anytime that day or the next with a 50% cash deposit (per contract). Hearing nothing by the end of the day on Tuesday (6/30/15) in the late afternoon I called their office again and one of the ladies (Ashley or Tina) said that they had delays on other jobs and would get to it shortly. I reiterated that I?d bring the workers a cash deposit the second that they arrived at the property. For the next few days I continued to call getting the same excuse until Friday 7/3/15 where my tenant was facing the July 4th weekend without a working drain. I called Ashely who got in touch with Keith and the following answer came back. Keith says you haven?t paid your deposit and we can?t come out until you do. At this point I was extremely angry, and as an aside I still didn?t have a copy of my invoice. At this point I told them where to go (and it wasn?t to heaven). The next week I called Modern Plumbing who had given me a price of $2,650 for the job. I engaged them. To be fair they did have a small delay of a few days in coordinating the job, but they did it without complaint. Upon completion (they didn?t require a deposit), I rushed over and gave them the entire amount (within 18 hours). I came too several opinions with regard to Brownies. First I think they?re really quick at coming out to clear drains, but anything further should be looked for ELSEWHERE. It?s my opinion that the girls in the office are quite stressed and do/say pretty much anything (including lying?) to get to the next call or e-mail with little responsibility and/or follow-up. Thus they come off like complete ?Air-Heads?, in my opinion. It?s my opinion that Keith, the plumbing manager, gives them little if any management and appears to have a ?MAJOR CHIP? on his shoulder most of the time. My opinion is that he?s got a real attitude problem. I called today (9/9/15 in the morning), some two months later, still attempting to get a copy of my original invoice (The one I had was the faded illegible pink carbonless form). Tina said she?d find it and get it over to me. Once again I felt like she was doing whatever she could to get to the next caller/issue. Later I received a call from Keith, in a very rude tone, asking me whatI wanted and stating that they never did the drain replacement. After mentioning that I was aware of that, I pointed out that they did charge me for attempting to clear the drain ($122). He then told me to call him with the invoice number (mine was faded, thus the need for the copy) and they would send it. I called back a little while later and Tina answered. Keith had given her instructions and she said she?d send it right over. That was over 3 hours ago on 9/9/15 and I?m still waiting??. It?s now 9/15/2015 and I?m still waiting for a copy of my invoice.

I called at 4:30pm as two toilets were overflowing. A very pleasant lady scheduled us for the first thing next day!! Rene called on the way over to confirm arrival time, found our Tank in 1 minute, pumped it out in 1/2 hour and solved our problem. Very courteous crew, priced a bit high, but now I feel it was worth it.

In June 2014 I called Brownie's for a bid on a job of adding the plumbing for a new bathroom and hooking up to my existing septic system. Apparently, at this time Brownies was going through some growing pains or personnel changes as it took a few months to determine what I wanted could not be done. After Eric stepped in, he apologized and explained that what I wanted could just not be done. I have used Brownies in the past and hope they resolved the issues as I would like to use them in the future with the confidence I had with them in the past. .

After my deposit it was done in five days, due to inspection on the weekend, that was performed on the following Monday. They left my yard in excellent condition-like they had never been there! I would recommend them to anyone. I am very pleased!!

I called Brownie's to have someone come and inspect and pump my septic tank. The woman on the phone was courteous and took my information and scheduled an appointment a few days later sometime between 1-5. I noticed she didn't ask for my phone number so I offered it and made sure she had it (trust me this will be important later). She told me they would call when they were on their way. The day of the appointment I took half a day off work so I could be home when they came. At about 4pm, I called them to make sure someone was coming. The receptionist told me that someone had come by earlier but that they didn't have a phone number on file to contact me so they didn't stop. Apparently its their policy to not stop at a house unless they contact the customer by phone first. She offered to schedule an appointment for the following day but I had already taken a half day off work and that wasn't possible. She put me on hold for ten minutes to see what she could do, after my hold she offered me a $15 discount. I said "no thanks".

Monday I called Brownie's to have my septic tank pumped. It had been 4 years since the last time so I was performing preventive maintenance. I was not having any problems. We set an appointment time of Friday morning between 8 and 12. I was told that they would call when they were on their way and I would have about a 30 minute window. At 11:45 on Friday, I had not yet heard from anyone so I called their office. They said that I was next because they ran into something that would take longer than the 45 minutes normally allowed for this type of service. I told them that while I understood that sometimes things happen, I would have expected a call alerting me to that fact, thus giving me the option of either rescheduling or just waiting it out. Finally, after about 10 minutes they asked if I would like them to call the technician to get an estimated time of arrival. I say, of course. Not sure why it took them 10 minutes to find that option. When they called him, they said he was on his way and it would be about 15 minutes. They said the reason he didn't call, was because they can't call when driving. That didn't make a lot of sense since I would think the normal procedure would be to call as he was leaving the last call before he started driving. She said they would be there in 15 minutes (about 12:15 p.m.). When they arrived, there were two people in the truck (so it made even less sense that they couldn't call). When they arrived, they found the septic tank and pumped it. They checked the tank and made sure water was running through it properly. All was done quickly and efficiently. The technicians were friendly and explained what they were doing. They said everything was operating as it should and no further work was suggested or required. I had been quoted $275, but the technician said that did not include the $10 coupon for Angie's List members, so he reduced it to $265. Even the originally quoted price was excellent compared with other companies I knew about. I was pleased with the end result.
