I have to agree with the reviews stated here. Last year we engaged with this contractor to pour a new driveway. They took the $1000 deposit and never did any work whatsoever beyond measurements. We had a hard deadline (sale of the property) so, after missing all deadlines and doing zero work, we terminated the agreement. Do not, under any circumstances, give this man any money upfront if you choose to do business with them. Additionally, do not use his agreement documentation. Draw up your own with FIRM deadlines, etc.

We hired John to tear out and replace our driveway. We signed the contract January 12, 2021 and made a first payment of $1000. He always said he would show up on a certain day and would never come. It took weeks for him to come and tear out the existing concrete. Up until today (Feb 24, 2021) that’s all he has done and we ended our agreement today and will find someone else.

Horrible experience. This company no-shows when they say they will be there. Every timeline and promise made was missed. Took downpayment and keeps missing promises of return. If you are looking into work needed, take time to look at reviews. Clearly I am one of many this has happened to. Save yourself time on attorney, paperwork filing, and reviews - find someone else.

I have some good things to say about John DiSpirito, and bad things. We started out hiring him to retile a sunken bathtub in July 2016, took longer than we thought, but he did a excellent job and fixed a problem. With that in mind, we continued to hire him for a re-do of an outside fire pit/cool deck area, which started in October 2016. Was to take a week, 10 days, included some demo work, and new concrete pour and tiling a area for the moveable firepit. I purchased the tile, but everything else was to be contractor supplied, gave him a down payment and he started work. The demo was completed and he formed up the area, just awaiting a concrete pour, that is where it stopped. I had even loaned him some money so he could get insurance, paid deposit, and another payment. He had transportation issues, his truck broke down, then a rental truck he said that was recalled(??), so had no transportation to get here and complete his job. But, all the time was telling me he would complete, and promise to show up so many times and never did. Even asked if I would rent him a truck to complete everything(NOT). I even tried to work with him where I would pick him up and bring him here, but NO. So after many many many promises, and a deadline, I decided to fire him, and asked for a $900 refund(½ of what I had paid him, since he still did the demo work). Promises upon promises, nothing happened. Promises of paying back the $900, but that was to be by January 1, 2017, and now it is almost March. He does good work, and a personable person, even took him and his family fishing on my boat 3 times, so surprised he would do this to me. If he was honest and upheld his part of the contract (Of which we both were required to agree/sign on before work started) it might be OK, but I think his personal life and personal problems may ruin his business. This caused me probably an additional $1,000 plus a lot of extra work getting it finished, even myself laying the tile after I had someone else do concrete work. Beware.
Description of Work: Two jobs, one a sunken bathtub, and next was a outdoor fire pit.

John Di Spirito came for an estimate on May 12th, 2015 to retile a 74 sq. ft. bathroom floor . He told me it would be a 2 day job. He gave me a price of $900.00 to retile the floor. He charged me $500 up front. For this I got the old tile removed, floor mudded twice and new tile brought to the residence and stacked in the garage. Within a 10 day time frame, he showed up 3 times. First day he was there 40 minutes, left for 3 hours to get supplies, came back with the new tile and 2 bags of cement and left for the day. He worked approximately 3 hours total and apparently walked off the job without a word. He mudded the floor twice, as there had been a slab leak and the plumbers had to jackhammer 8 holes in the floor. He did not even out the mud or skim it and there were globs of high places in it and under baseboards. One day after that, his son called to say his dad's truck would not start. I threatened to fire him if he did not show the next day. He came and took out the old tile, mudded the floor the first time and left. The next time he came, he only mudded the floor and left a mess of it with globs of mud and high places and left again. He left 2 large piles of the old, broken tile in my garage that I have no way to haul off and that the City will not take due to it being considered construction debris. I have not seen nor heard from him again. I will not have him back to work for me. He is an LLC and has a web site which makes him look good, but reviews of him on the internet (which I did NOT find until later) are not good at all. He's done the same thing to many other people here in Jacksonville. I know Tile tradesmen do not have to be licensed in Florida, but they do have to be an LLC. He is, and there was no reason not to trust that he would do the job. But he flat just walked away from the mess he made with no word whatsoever. I submitted my payment to him via Paypal. Paypal does NOT reimburse for Services. It was paid via credit card which I can dispute.
Description of Work: *Removed 2 layers of old tile from a bathroom floor *Mudded the floor twice *Brought new tile to the residence

We then hired him to do our driveway. We gave him $2,000.00 to start the job. He took out 1 1/2 sections and stated he needed money to order concrete. We gave him another $2000.00 and never saw him again. We had to hire another company. He says he is licensed, - he is not! He states he does a lot of jobs - he does not. He stated he moved from Connecticut because of the economy - he did not. There are 19 other folks out there who have filed complaints! Sure there are more people with the same experience. He is not a man of his word. We have a useless contract on very fancy letterhead. We have filed complaints with the Attorney Generals Office and the county where we live. This company also uses another address 1302 Independence Dr., Orange Park, Fl. 32065 and two other phone numbers- 904-458-4265 and 904-579-1314. Complaints also in Ocala, Fl. and Connecticut, Ponte Vedra, Fl.

We hired him to do some work for us in our yard. He gave us an estimate, then asked for half of the money up front for materials cost. After we had given him the money, he never performed the requested task. Currently, he will not even take our calls. Do not do business with this man!
Description of Work: He was hired to build a patio and firepit, as well as some flower beds. He gave us an estimate of $6000.
