Southern Green of Tampa

If you hire this company, you put your lawn's health at risk. I unfortunately was with them for a number of years and my lawn constantly suffered. Finally after my entire front lawn was devastated by web worm damage I called to complain. The tech who responded said the company didn't treat for all risks on each visit and said other companies normally did. That was all I needed to hear. FIRED THEM.

Bald spots are still there and I have more weeds than grass.

What a joke! This company tried to solicit business from me, even though I live in a gated community and soliciting is strictly prohibited. A sales rep and his supervisor- sidekick informed me that both my neighbors had just signed up to have their lawns serviced. That was the first LIE as both neighbors work and both confirmed later they did NOT sign anything with Southern Green. The sales rep then said a neighbor six houses down from me was a happy customer who has been with Southern Green for over a year. Another LIE! I talked to this person also and she said she had never heard of Southern Green. Wow! Wilfred, the sales rep then tried to explain that I have chinch bugs when actually I have a fungus that is being treated by my lawn service provider. He explained that he could miraculously solve the problem and suggested a six month trial along with my debit card. Really? I tried not to laugh and explained that I never make a decision without thoroughly checking all available sources: Google, Yelp, Social media, BBB, et..... This is when the conversation went a different direction with the supervisor flinging snarky comments and being totally unprofessional. Alas, I have NEVER had the experience where a business sales philosophy is to dissemble with morally questionable tactics and follow up blatant lies!... Well, I wasn't surprised when I referenced social media and found myriad NEGATIVE reviews about your unsavory business practices and unscrupulous employees! Southern Green and these two employees are a DISGRACE!

Great My lawn is the best.

Company sold us on a $60/mo treatment package for Lawn and Bushes. Lawn didn't respond to treatment and only some weeds were killed in the process. After 6 months of service they have yet to treat the shrubs or bushes and we had to replace the lawn with new sod. Now they are refusing to refund the months where no treatment was applied and are only offering to service the lawn again. It was a mistake going with this company.

Very poor service, My yard is worse after applying their products. Too many bugs, weeds and yellow patches. Also, they don't follow client instructions. I do not recommend this company.

After talking me into canceling my provider, they failed to service my lawn. Telephone calls and email failed to get any response from them Happily my original provider was able too service my lawn again. Very poor customer service.

Not well. Matt, the technician left me a bill for $85.00 for doing absolutely nothing to my property. I called the office to complain and they did not seem to care. I asked for an adjusted bill, but they keep mailing a bill for $85.00. I am going to call eight on my side to see if they can resolve this issue.

No noticable benefit of service, Yes, its the winter months and slow growth comes with winter. Problem is where weed applications should have benefited, weeds still grow not allowing the St Augustine to grow out. Plugs would help but I'd have to remove weeds where this service should have benefited.

I called the office and got a voice message. I left a message and about a hour later I received a call from the office. The guy was told what I signed up for and what I received. I told him my wife was sitting in the back and never saw the technician go in the back. I told him that there was nothing on the shrubs and plants. He got argumentative with me on the phone. He was trying to push me off to the technician who did the service. I told him I did not need to talk to the service technician that he was responsible for what his technicians do or don't do. I cancelled service on the phone with him and told him I would not be paying the 65 dollars for a service that was not completed.

They do good service. I like them. They are regular and pleasant. Their cost appears to be average as opposed to others. If I wasn't satisfied, I wouldn't continue to use them but that is not the case.

We happened to be looking for a new lawn treatment company when their sales guy Kelly knocked on my door. He was very pushy from the beginning in that he wanted a sales contract signed right away even before allowing me talk to my wife. The salesman was also a little misleading in saying he was going to start treating our neighbors yard the following week. On pressing him on the details later in the conversation he back tracked and he said he was confident he would get our neighbor to change companies. Despite the red flags I agreed to try them. I fell for the local, small business talk. They promptly came to provide service the following week. We have a larger than average yard and the technician completed his service in 4 minutes and 15 seconds. He then sat in his truck the next 15 minutes. I called the sales guy to complain and was treated very unprofessionally. Kelly told me "that I wasn't the same person he meet" for being upset over this and I was being unreasonable for thinking about canceling. He then proceeded to lecture me on my attitude as opposed to listening to my concerns. I promptly called the main number and canceled. I would not recommend this company at least in regards to their crew in the Brandon/Valrico area. Their sales team and operations team failed to meet any expectations.

A Service Manager knocked on my door and pointed out our sad looking palm trees (which was true) and we started to talk about what they could do for our lawn, scrubs and ESPECIALLY palm trees. They were convincing and I signed up for it. What a mistake! After they came out for the first time I realized that they did nothing to my palm trees. When I called they said that they don't treat anything that is higher than 8 feet. This was NEVER mentioned before. In fact, my palm trees (slightly over 8 ft) were the reason I signed up and the Service Manger was well aware of that. Well, some of my palm trees are higher, but some are definitely within the range. I wanted to let them make things right. They said they will send a technician out to correct the issue and that I would receive a call to make an appointment. I also asked for the Service Manager to call me to sort out the misunderstanding we'd obviously had. I never received a call back nor did the technician show up or call with an appointment. I tried to call again and left a message, but nobody called back for two days. When I finally got a hold of them they said they had other important things to do. I canceled my service immediately. All the lady on the phone was worried about was that I would to pay the bill (which I already had). This company is VERY unprofessional and not worth your hard earned money. I was supposed to get every 4th service free. Now that I don't continue with this service I obviously paid way(!) too much. The price for the service was definitely too high either way as they did not treat all my palm trees.

They did come out on a regular basis - and would always leave a note of what work was performed and what chemicals were added to the lawn. I did have to call them back a few times as there was just not improvement to the lawn. The lawn would green up as the summer progressed, but this was mainly due to the regular growth of St Augustine grass. I also would add more fertilizer to the lawn (Scotts) ... The weed treatments they applied were not worth the money. I don't think the number of weeds diminished in my lawn at all during the time of service. One of the biggest issues is I had them set up on an automatic payment each month on the online banking. Unfortuneatle, I did not cancel the payment when i cancelled service. So I have a $280 credit to my name. I simple called and they saw the balance and said they would refund the money. All is good right? That was back at the end of March 2014 - This is nearing the end of June and still waiting on the refund. I have called a few other times and the company says they will contact accounting and see if they can speed it along. To date nothing has helped and seem to be getting a run around. simply put - lawn care companies are a dime a dozen. I would look elsewhere if you are in need of service.

I would definitely not recommend this company. One of the lawns was a new Saint Augustine lawn. It ended up with weeds and pest patches. Not what I would expect starting new service on a clean lawn! My other property was an established lawn, honestly fraught with issues. After 8 months of service, the yard looked even worse with weeds. On this property we had them do fungus treatment on the bushes/landscape. Again, no satisfactory results. I know that our neighbor used them for approximately the same amount of time and they hired someone else because their lawn was not satisfactory as well. As far as billing, I was told treatments would be every 6 - 8 weeks. Next thing I know they are "treating" my yard every 4 weeks. When I finally called to cancel service I asked for a final total. I issued a check for the total due. Only to continue receiving a bill for a balance due. I cannot for the life of me figure out how I could have a balance when I had "PAID MY ACCOUNT" in full. In addition, the times when I had called on my account I always received an answering machine. Of the 4 calls I made to the machine only 3 were returned. Several neighbors were using their service. The interesting thing about the service is, on the early mornings, 8:30 AM, that they supposedly serviced our yards (evidenced by the yard plaque), in 8 months, I NEVER saw a Southern Green truck in our community.

The company approached us with an offer for buy 3 months, get a 4th free. We have been pleased with the service and have continued monthly treatments beyond the original 4 months. They come when scheduled and treat the lawn. We have seen an improvement in the thickness and quality of grass in our lawn.

Horrendous! We had brand new St. Augustine sod planted last year in backyard and now after monthly treatments sod is taken over by cinch bugs. Also last week we had a sales person from this company come by the house trying to sell us this service (which we're already paying from by the way) stating that "our lawn looks really bad and could fix it" What a joke !

They seem to be good.

We used this company for about a year. Although initially, the lawn looked good, over time the lawn started to decline. Apparently, a cinch bug infestation was not treated and the bugs destroyed about 25% of the lawn. The company did not alert me to the problem, nor did they take responsibility. When I called a new company out to take over the care of the lawn, they were stunned that I was currently using a service, saying that they have never seen a lawn that was under a company's care look this terrible. I only wish I had been a member of Angie's list before I hired this company. I would have never hired them. Now I am facing spending thousands of dollars to replace the sod in the areas that have been destroyed by the cinch bugs.

I would never recommend them to anyone.

I was visited in my home unannounced to solicit signing up for a quarterly fertilizer and weed killer service. It was agreed to pay for 3 treatments and the 4th would be free. I stated I wanted to be present for the first service. They showed up? while I wasn't there, then sent me a bill for service. I sent them a check, which hasn't been cashed, now they are sending more bills with finance charges. On top of this, they called to say they don't service our area (Ruskin) and wouldn't be back. Overall, I would avoid them

After one year, our lawn has more weeds than ever. We have lost entire front lawn to sod web worms and need to re-sod. When calling the office to report problem I was told a supervisor would come "right out" to see if lawn could be salvaged. They told me they do not spray any weed control in the summer that would "stress the lawn" (explains the weeds). There was a note in our file that the service member had seen cinch bugs in the backyard (no mention of sod worms in the front). After one week with no contact we cancelled the service. They sent the regular service person out anyway about a week after canceling. Awful experience with entire company.
