First the design-The design process was just excellent, Mick took us through the process with patience and skill, listening to our wants, the confines of our budget while steering the design with his expertise. The build process-Really a mixed bag here primarily due to communication that at times was poor, from crews showing up unannounced at 6:30 in the morning to late or not showing up at all. Probably the low point was when the crew from Pebble Pros urinated on the side of our house. They may need to consider removing the "Pros" from their name as this was very unprofessional. The build was completed on schedule with the only issue being a leak due to one of Freestyles employees not installing the seal on the pool light cord. This could have been addressed better by the company as it cost us, the homeowner's money to keep filling the pool as well as a lot of frustration but it seemed to be made light of as one of those things that just happens. Freestyle uses quite a bit of subcontract work in their build process which can be of concern but we would have to say the subs are held to a high standard with their work, other than the urinating bit which was simply ridiculous...Overall the quality of materials and workmanship with Freestyle was very good and along with the design we have a beautiful pool which we have been enjoying all summer. We would choose this company again but hopefully not for a very long time as we're in no hurry to go through something like this again!

An appointment was made to have their designer Mike come to my house on 5/9/2018 to go over what I am looking for, which is the installation of a swimming pool and spa. Mike arrived on time and we talked about what I was looking for, he provided some pamphlets and other information on their company and products. He stayed a few minutes and took measurements and pictures, and before leaving told me to give him "a week or so" and he would have something back to me. Two weeks later, after not hearing back, I called the office and asked politely when I may hear back from Mike. The woman who answered the phone told me she saw no notes in the system for my address, but would get in touch with Mike and either him or her would call me back with an update. After two days of no reply, which was just an update I was looking for, I emailed them stating I don't want to do business with them due to their lack of responsiveness to a potential customer. For the record, I know they don't need to, but there still hasn't been any response from them, from either the designer, or from company officials in response to my email.

Freestyle is the best contractor experience I have had. They performed all the work ahead of time and in excellent condition. I am a civil engineer so I am very picky about work performed on my home. Upon completion also gave me the tools and test kit I need to maintain the pool as well as pool school to teach me how to perform the maintenance and answer any questions I had. They were very price competitive and did not skimp on anything. All the equipment supplied was top notch Hayward. Bottom line is you don't even get what you pay for these days, with Freestyle I got more!!!

This company completely redid my pool area about 2 years ago. It still looks like the day it was installed and, as promised, has required very little maintenance on my part. There have been a couple of minor issues since then that were promptly repaired. Most recently a pump motor had to be replaced. What continues to impress me is that even these minor issues are handled as promptly and competently as the original installation (despite the relatively minimal financial benefit to the company). I continue to give them my highest recommendation.

No service performed...not that that was the desired end result.

Mike Gann the supervisor, saw to it that all employees were friendly, w/honest & professional & He went above & beyond the call of duty!

We started to get quotes on Oct 2015. Freestyle was not the cheapest quote within three companies but was right there with the rest and because of many good reviews and the sales person Virgil's response, we choose Freestyle. The other companies never even went in back yard just sat down with their computers and tried to design a pool. Virgil went out with tape measure looking at where windows were, design of house etc... Virgil is very responsible, a great designer and always responded to our calls and questions. Even during the build, if we had a question or were concerned about something Virgil was always willing to help. Our backyard is not so big and we have 10 feet easement but Virgil designed perfect pool for our backyard space. Cameron gave us a Pool School and taught us how to maintain our pool. He is very knowledgeable and kind. Janet at office was very responsible and always a pleasure to talk to. She never made you feel like you were complaining and made sure any problem you had was taken care of stat! Our pool construction started on Mar 21 2015. Our project manager Martin was new to freestyle and I was not fully satisfied with him mainly due to lack of communication. Many times we did not know what was going on and did not get responses from phone calls or texts. But, with a great team behind him, I am sure he will be a great asset to the company. The screen guys are so professional also. All contractors working with Freestyle are professional and work hard. We wanted to have our family together for Memorial weekend. Janet promised us she will let us to have our first pool party on Memorial Day weekend and as she promised, we could have a nice Memorial Day pool party. We feel confident that we made the right choice. We love our pool and have received so many compliments. Thank you, Virgil, Janet, Cameron and team for all your hard work for our pool. We highly recommend Freestyle.

It went great! The project moved along just as we were told. Everyone working for Freestyle was courteous, helpful and kept us informed. We love our new pool!

You can not do better than Freestyle Pools and Spas. From the salesman to the job supervisor to the daily workers, to the billing, we had excellent communications, excellent response. When we had a problem or a question, they responded quickly and took care of things. The work was done carefully and has held up for almost a year and counting. We have our spa and our lights back (didn't work for years before that) and the pool looks great. We have no problem recommending this company to anyone.

Freestyle installed our pool about 11 years ago. They did a beautiful job. We have been very satisfied with every aspect of our pool construction. It is beautiful and easy to maintain. Have enjoyed many hours of swimming and cookouts with family and friends. After 11 years, Pebbletec needed professional cleaning. Jeremy came out and did an outstanding job by doing a no drain acid wash. My 11 yr. old pool looks new--Pebbletec is immaculate, fixtures are sparkling, water is crystal clear. He even repaired a loose brick for us. Without any hesitation whatsoever, we highly recommend Freestyle and Jeremy is the best "pool doctor" ever.

Jeremy arrived when scheduled and had the parts on hand and replaced the old motor with a new one. Up and running in no time.

This was our third experience building or remodeling a pool and by far the very best experience. The entire staff was very professional ... quick to reply to inquiries, focused on quality, and committed to communicating all details in an efficient and effective manner. We're trilled with the results, and would recommend them without hesitation.

VERY EFFICIENT AND PROFESSIONAL

We had several pool companies come out to give us a quote for our new pool. We chose Freestyle because of their great reviews on Angie's List and because their planning and design rep was so knowledgeable. It made us feel confidant that we had made the right choice. Their salesman, Virgil Siegle, came out to take a look at our narrow yard and proposed several ways that we could put a pool in. One of the things that we appreciated was that he checked with the town building department to make sure of the setback regulations before we did the design on the pool. It saved us a lot of trouble and although we couldn't put the pool as close to the house as we wanted to, the final design worked out better than we expected. Throughout the process, the staff at Freestyle kept us informed about the installation schedule. From the initial layout of the pool/hot tub to the final touches and "Pool School" with Cameron, we were always informed on who would be here and what time to expect them. We went to the show room in Oldsmar to pick out the pavers, tile and interior for the pool. They have a large variety of colors and styles to choose from and we appreciated the professional guidance we received to coordinate all the details for our new pool. It is a beautiful pool and we have been enjoying it every weekend.

I'm still happy with their service. Everything is pretty much the same. I have great service. It is a great company. I would recommend them to anybody. It turned out fine. I'm really happy with how the pool turned out. It was one of those deals when you spend a lot of money in the pool and you never know what's going to happen. We had some special features put up on it. It actually turned out better than I expected. I think in situations like building a pool, that's extraordinary. You get what you pay for. I would absolutely use them in the future.

Started this project in June, got 5 bids, picked freestyle because of the details the salesman gave me and drawing of pool within 24 hrs. and explained my options and codes very thoroughly. Very attentive to my needs. Then in July after receiving all approvals, as NO luck would have it, it rained 24 days straight here. So project was dragged out due to the weather, but once they got going, it was non-stop crews here and finished 2 weeks ago. I was most happy with Mark, the owner. He always answered his cell and was always available to me with my concerns and questions, which was a blessing. They have the best crews that work so hard, especially in this Florida heat. All in all, I was very happy I picked this company out of the 5 I interviewed.

This is going to be a difficult review to write as, quite frankly, I don't know where to start. The problem is that there is so much to compliment this company about, it will be a challenge to keep this shorter than a novel and not so flattering as to lead the reader to suspect that I am the owner?s mother. Let me begin by saying that this is the most backwards company I have ever dealt with. I say that because in most situations the company is very prompt and responsive when it comes to making the sale but not so responsive once they have your money. On the contrary, this company took weeks to complete the sale and get a final contract/deposit. However, once the sale was completed, the responsiveness we received throughout the entire job was unlike anything I have ever experienced. Starting with the design and pricing process, even the delay mentioned above was handled in a professional fashion as we were told to expect the delay because of their current volume of business. That said, Mark Ouverson was extraordinarily competent, honest and forthright in making recommendations in a remodel job that was not without its challenges. Once the job got underway, it progressed without delay (despite the almost daily deluge of rain). One of our biggest concerns was having so many subcontractors on the job without supervision (a common complaint we read about online). However, I must say that it didn?t take long to realize how extraordinarily competent these subs were. Yet, despite the fact that these people obviously needed little supervision, the job was watched over on a regular basis by Mark Osborne with visits too frequent to count. At the risk of overusing superlatives, suffice it to say that Mark?s attention to this project went way above and beyond the call of duty (this included helping us with a number of difficult issues that had nothing to do with our contract like sealing the deck and fencing in the property). That said, I would be lying if I didn't say that a few mistakes were made. However, in my opinion they are not worth describing as all would readily be considered inherent to any remodel job of this magnitude. What is worth describing, though, is the way these issues were handled. Just as in every interaction with this company, whenever we raised an issue Mark was out here promptly and the issue was resolved to our total satisfaction. This review would not be complete without making a comment on the attention to detail that was evident throughout this project. There were so many things that could have easily been covered up with tile, pavers, Pebble Tec, etc.-things that would have never been noticed by the customer for years when they would become costly to repair. However, it speaks to the professionalism and responsibility of this company that shortcuts were simply out of the question. In other words, it was quite obvious that quality of workmanship always trumped profits with this company. The job concluded with the typical competence we had come to expect. Cameron came out to our house and patiently walked us through everything we needed to know about maintaining the pool. And again, there was that ?above and beyond the call of duty? moment that occurred when it was time for us to take responsibility for the maintenance. When we told him we were going out of town, Cameron was kind enough to agree to continue maintaining it for the two weeks we would be gone. Needless to say, this company?s pricing is not the lowest but rather is in the range of the higher-end companies we evaluated. That said, I must say that I have never felt so good about spending so much more money than I expected to spend! In the end we were left with a comforting level of confidence that, not only was the job done right, but that Freestyle would be there in the years to come for any problems that might arise.

Great experience overall. Eliane was great in helping choose and setup our pool. I'm from out the country and was completely unfamiliar with local pool building vernacular. From the project commencent, it was a little bumpy at the start as my expectation was to get better clarity on commencement dates, and all i got was broad, non committal estimates. That could be better. But, when the day came to discuss the installation, the foreman came through (Jim C) and things went like clockwork. As with all activities, i expected some bumps, breakages etc., which i thought i was going to have to deal with. It was a tight installation. They broke the hose fitting, and thats the sum total of the culpable damage. There was a plumbing link issue, not their problem, but they went out of their way to sort it out temporarily. Project was completed early. Super clean job and more than met my expectations. Area was cleaned nicely. Follow up service is where it kicks up a gear. Cameron has been awesome! So 5 months after completion, he's all over the service. Just a brilliant guy, super interested to help and get things done right for us. I'm generally a tough consumer with little to no tolerance for poor service. Ive read some of the negative reviews and i would be surprised at how accurate they are, perhaps a little cynical a view...In this day and age, so few examples exist of where honour and integrity rank above profit.

Before we started our the contruction of our home in May, 2015 I contacted Freestyle Pools and a few other pool companies for estimates on getting a new pool. I spoke to Mark Ouverson and on May 20, 2015 met with Mark at our property and went over all that we wanted to accomplish. We spoke for about 30 to 45 minutes, he took measurements and said he would call/email me with estimate. Throughout the following weeks I either called or email Mark and he continued to inform me he was working on our plans. Finally over a month later he sends me a plan layout that have nothing to do with what we had discussed. So, of course I was a little worried and told him we would probably not be using Freestyle because we didn't feel comfortable with him not paying attention to detail, let alone taking so long to get back to us. Not long after we were contemplating hiring another pool company and received estimates about 10k to 15k less than Freestyle, our builder mentions Freestyle Pools and how he dealt with someone else in their company and has always had excellent results. So we thought we trust our builder and after speaking with Mark Ouverson again (which by the way he is very nice and professional but sometimes does not cross all his t's & dots his i's and giving him the benefit of the doubt, we are back to going with Freestyle. Once we received Freestyle estimate and compared to other bids, freestyle was about was way higher priced than everyone else? We again spoke with Mark and voiced our concern for huge price difference and he told us he would be able to match competitor's quote, but of course added a few items here and there and it was still much higher than other bids. We settled with Freestyle Pools because we were told over and over again by Mark that Freestyle was the best in the area and we were now family and made us believe we would have a beautiful pool with no worries/concerns and EXCELLENT workmanship. I went into their office once again to sign all the paperwork and changes to reflect price adjustment. Throughout the project we felt as we were being nickeled and dimed to death as we were told by project manager Jim we needed this that and the other added to project. Those items should have been addressed from the beginning because it seemed as if they were being hidden to show the estimate being closer to what our other bids were and than added back on increments at a time. Now we get into the building part of the pool and when weeks go by and we see no production, we contact freestyle only to be told "we can be finished in no time we just don't want to get ahead and make the house builder look bad". Once we are about to move in the pool project is still a mess and we are told day in and day out tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. We have tons of pictures to prove the nightmare we endured and the finish product. Keep in mind we had made it very clear to Freestyle Pools when we first started that we wanted the pooltotally completed by move in date because we had lots of family coming in town that week. We were very embarrassed when our guest saw as they started to arrive. We are not at all satisfied with our pool and especially with the fact that we feel violated and robbed. We are very fair people and we do not practice cheating anyone from what they are owed but your finished product does not merit the high dollar sticker your company has charged us!I Freestyle is not a company that we feel has worked nor produced what we were promised. I would hate for any family to not only go through what we had to but to be robbed of thousands of dollars without knowledge. We plan on seeking legal advise for the 10k we feel we overpaid and the fact that our pool was rushed at the end and finish product looks awful. Keep in mind we paid $50,752 for JUST POOL AND PAVERS & we paid another 10k for screen enclosure. We would be totally satisfied if we had, had a good experience and a beautiful pool but JUST A SIMPLE/PLAIN POOL WITH DECK PAVERS (NOTHING FANCY). I am sick to my stomach when I think about how people can do this and get away with it. VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

This company is fantastic. They met all my expectations with this project. Everyone we worked with was professional and courteous including owner, sales rep, office personnel, supervisor, and contractors. I would highly recommend this company and would use them again without hesitation.

I think this is an example of getting what you pay for. I cringed at the price when I heard it, but went ahead with it because I knew there would be no surprises and the job would be done right. Now that it is completed , I know without reservation that hiring Freestyle was the right decision. The job had several design complexities and Freestyle stepped up to the plate on every one of them. Every individual who did work on the project was highly skilled and hard-working. We are blown away by the quality and workmanship, as is every one of our family and friends who has seen it. Excellent experience.

From the first contact to the last, our experience with Freestyle pools was the best. Mark Osborn, co-owner met with us at our home to review the project. After he submitted a detailed proposal, we scheduled an appointment to meet with him at the Freestyle location to discuss the project in detail, choose pool surface options, tile, lamp options and pavers. The Freestyle staff researched the paver manufacturer to match the old pavers we had on the original pool decking. Mark explained the work process in detail, and the cost, billing, etc. He assured us that he would personally supervise the job, which was critical, as we would be back at our home in Rochester while Freestyle was doing the work at our Florida home. Freestyle took special care to protect our landscaping and lawn by laying plywood planks down. The work proceeded exactly as scheduled. After Mark personally inspected the job at the end of the project, he had his service manager maintain the pool and monitor the water conditions to insure all was going well as the new surface cured. After a week or so, Mark then inspected the job site to be sure the clean-up was done properly and all was well with our pool and property. It was very easy to stay in touch with Mark as he returned phone calls and emails immediately. We would highly recommend Freestyle pools to anyone. By the way, Freestyle also resurfaced my son's pool and paved the decking at his home in Westchase, Tampa. It was an easy decision to choose Freestyle Pools after seeing what a great job they did for my son's pool.

They came when they said they would. Workers were all professional. Explained everything as they went. I am very happy with my pool.
